i remember seeing the closed captions of Kami and Nail and only hearing Nail and thinking they messed up when making or uploading it and commenting on it but then my friend later said the audio was fine and found out my sound system only plays one side of the audio
I feel like that wouldn't happen. If you think about it the other z Warriors were revived on the spot because their bodies were in condition to not be revived (there is even a joke with yamcha) so i don't think you would get revived in a situation were you would die immediately otherwise the wish would be worthless. Its kinda even seen in super.
@@alessandroreyes3827 Which is funny, considering the existence of the theory that King Kai didn't wish for everybody who was killed by Frieza to come back because if he did, they would all die in space.
love the kit-kat bar line because, as ridiculous as it is, it's still terrifying because when you're CRUSHING A MAN'S HAND IN YOUR GRIP, literally anything you say becomes intimidating
The KitKat bar is honestly just so perfect. It's a great way to transition Goku back to not raging off of SSJ energy by giving him a food line but still sound pretty harsh and badass.
Oh, that line sends _chills_ down my spine. It doesn't matter that it's a food reference, it doesn't matter that it's the goofy character. Or maybe it's _because_ Goku's so goofy that it hits harder.
My theory as to why Krillin comes back from the Afterlife screaming, is because on his way to King Kai's planet he fell off of Snake Way and went to HIFL. He was just being tortured by Goz and Mez.
Ok, so for context: in 2014 I had just gotten back in country and I was flush with time off. Needless to say during that time I was binge-watching since I had been out of the country for about a year. When I saw Episode 30 and it's constituent parts I laughed so hard I accidentally threw myself through a window and out onto the back porch where I broke my leg. That was some explaining to the EMTs.
For me the reason why Frieza was so confused when Goku said he was going to break him like a Kit-Kat Bar is because he have no idea what a Kit-Kat Bar is. If Goku said Space Kit-Kat Bar then Freezer would have get the reference.
My personal head cannon is that Frieza knew what a Kit Kat bar was, but was confused as to why goku said “break you like a lot kat bar” because Frieza has never had friends to “break off a piece of that Kit Kat bar” with.
I love that a decent amount of these videos are just "LittleKuriboh is amazing", "Masako is fantastic", "Take is just great" - just them being supportive and positive about their friends and collaborators
@@christopherbronson3275 didn't they mention at one point that HBI2K did a great nail? I swear I remember hearing that at the start of the namek commentaries
I'm jealous because I'd love to meet and shake all of their hands. They all just seem rad and like people you could just kick it with during several rounds of beer.
One of the lines that always gets me to laugh loud is Goku angrily saying "I don't HAVE to use the bathroom" in response to Freeza's "Will you piss off already!"
the "king kai reacting" joke being a dig at kaiserneko is really funny because I just assumed this was making fun of those very specific anime reaction noises
"I'm gonna break you...." "What?" "...like a Kit Kat bar!" "What?!" One of my favorites in the series. That and actually have someone walk into "stop saying musk" and follow with "stop eating my food" was glorious.
@@multiverse_media2023 To be fair, at least Yamcha can say that at some point in his life he has actually beaten Goku...something that Vegeta still can't say.
I quote King Kai way to often when people ask me questions, probably one of my favorite lines "I don't have to tell you everything... I don't have to tell you anything!"
For a very long time the "I think I peed a little" joke was my absolute favourite joke in DBZA and it always made me laugh the way Kaiser did here. Still makes me smile every time. In the anime, Goku just slapping the crap out of Freeza is oddly funny anyway, and TFS worked their magic on it. It's a joke Mr Perfect Cell would thoroughly approve of.
Also, I love the fact that Frieza's big play - blowing up the entirety of planet Namek and killing every person on it - wound up killing literally NOBODY.
@@RetepAdam Actually, you know what? I hadn't considered that, and based on the wording of the wish to Shenron... technically, they all WOULD have come back, having been killed by Frieza. And then when Namek blew up, they would have died again. So, good point, excellent catch, and I stand corrected! 😁👍🏻
The one issue with Dende deciding to make the wish on his own is that it kinda no longer makes sense why Goku gets left behind, but that smile on Dende's face and the little musical tag on it is just priceless.
@@fragile4408 I always thought it was like: "Bring everyone whos life is threatened by Freeza to earth". And at that point, the dragon didn't consider Freeza big enough of a threat to Goku
While Dende wouldn’t know who Goku is (he showed up after he died) Goku staying behind is actually worse for Frieza than him going to Earth, and Dende’s plan was to screw over Frieza as much as possible If Goku went to Earth, nothing would stop Frieza from getting to a ship (or just flying into space on his own) and tracking them down Granted, this is kind of what happens anyway, but without Goku, Frieza would have recovered completely instead of becoming a cyborg
I always though Dende wished "I want everyone in Namek tô be teleported to Earth, with the exeption of Freeza and the idiot that came from Earth". The idiot he was refering to was Krilin, but the dragon ends up thinking of Goku.
"OG Abridged fans you know what it's like to wait..." Oh yeah, I know. Anyone else remember the episode completion meter? Also happy Holidays to all Team Four Star!
After they finish all of the creator commentary Lani: Congratulations Kaiser, you completed the series Kaiser: Oh thank god Lani: But I have some bad news Kaiser: What? Lani: You're going back Kaiser:w-what? Lani: To season 1. Byeeeee. Kaiser: NOOOOOO!
That whole sequence was perfect, and it had the absolute coldest line from Cell. Probably my favorite single line and delivery from the entire series. I know it's cliche but, _chills_
The dragon can’t wish back large sums of people who’ve been dead for that long And even if it could, I’d wager the explosion meant that none of them had their bodies to begin with
Yeah, no, I don't think the Sayians got wished back. The only reason Nappa came back was because his death was still recent. The Sayians were dead for like, 30 years by this point, so the Dragon wouldn't have been able to bring them back.
The countermeasure to this: You cannot wish someone back without a planet to return too. The reason they had to wait to resurrect Kirillin was because he needed Namek back. So they had to wish New Namek into existence first, and then the body would have a location to return to and then he can just be teleported back. But when the dragon brings someone back, their body is where it died. So all of the planets that did get destroyed - like Planet Vegeta - there was no where for those souls to return.
@@SlickTactics Which is fair. Been a long time. But that is kind of the statement Shenron and Porunga I think work on. One of em I believe said it. But meh, memory could be wrong.
I love the idea that Nappa bringing up his "idea" to Vegeta was just a way of Nappa trolling him by revealing that Ghost Nappa wasn't actually just a figment of Vegeta's imagination. Like "Remember all that mental suffering I put you through, that's gonna make for a great blockbuster" And Vegeta, knowing that he fully deserves it, resigns with a "Good ole goddammit Nappa" that he can't even really muster the rage to actually be fully angry about
Man, I never knew that deleted scene existed till now. And my god. If I saw that the very first time I watched episode 30, I would have absolutely lost my mind laughing and crying about how damn good that was. Because damn that was good. These seem like the Directors Cut of the DBZA series.
There were two deleted scenes they showed here, that I now remember watching when seeing the episodes first-run on the old tfs site. But then never saw again when rewatching episodes, re-uploads or compilations on youtube. Needless to say, it's a bit of a mind blast.
@@sydneyduval7859 I think I might've seen this last one in a Portuguese subbed reupload around the time it was out... What the hell... Was it even real
Vegeta does actually address the super saiyan bit (at least in the dub) and is completely ecstatic that goku actually transformed. "Kakarot, you dog! You did it, you actually did it! You're a super saiyan!" it's probably the only part in the series that he seems to be genuinely proud of goku and happy for him except for his speech at the end of Buu.
@@SupaDanteX oh this was to goku's face, but yeah its probably the only exception to that. Every other compliment I remember him giving is always out of earshot or is an internal monologue.
@@johnnygutierrez7948 It refers to the fandom/fan action of "shipping" characters they think make a good couple. The term comes from relationSHIP and is debated in many ways, but hey, to each their own. Korin and Yajirobe for life.
@@LoveSasukeKai It also comes from the slang term that two people being in a romantic relationship makes them an "item", and items are what is shipped. It's a double pun.
The "strip poker" bit towards the end might have been a reference to To Kill A Mockingbird. I don't remember the scene exactly, but the one of the three kids lose a few articles of clothing and one of them spins a lie about having played strip poker so they wouldn't get in MORE trouble.
A brief breakdown of the golf part. "Putting": You ever play putt putt? it's that, and it occurs when you get onto the "green" which is the area around the hole which is designated by more mashed down grass. "A very difficult degree from this angle": Basically from where the ball is, the "green" has a slope to it that you have to account for, because if you hit it straight it'll follow that small slope and miss. "Greens have been running rather fast today": That means the "green" is having the balls go further than you'd expect. So you need to put less power into the put or else you'll over shoot the hole. Yes this can happen and your ball will just bounce off the other side and keep going past the hole even if you hit it head on. "Aiming to the right of the hole": This means that most likely there is a leftward slope, so to compensate he needs to aim to the right of the hole. "Good for Par": He made the expected number of hits to get it into the hole. This is usually X + 2 (X is the necessary number of hits to get the ball onto the green) and the +2 is the number of putts it should take you to get it into the hole.
God bless this series. This thing that you're doing has been the commentary track I always wished would be on a dvd release that I knew legally could never exist. Thank you for reigniting my love for anime and manga. Because of you guys, I always support the official release.
It's nice to be able to come back here and still see Scott and Nick having a good time. Merry Christmas to all of TeamFourStar, to everyone whos ever worked with you guys, and to all the fans out there still coming back to hang with the boys.
DBZA and Hellsing Abridged brought me here and helped me through some very dark and dismal times. Renegade For Life, Goku's Gonna Show You and DBCember were all a lot of fun too. Thank you so much for all your hard work on all of these projects.
@@DagothThorus "Don't mistake youthful selfishness for genuine malice. No one *isn't* kind of an asshole in their early 20s. And if they weren't, they're probably a sociopath."
What so many didn't get from the actual effing dream she had with Vegeta several episodes prior. I stayed out of that total mess because most took it, no pun intended, way too wrong.
I don't know why but the deleted scene of Martin getting to scream like Vader, and knowing he'd end up working on the audio description tracks for Rogue One feels really wholesome to me.
Vegeta playing Yandere Simulator gave me such joy when it launched. The characters playing video games was not only a great expansion on the personalities as they developed, but hilarious in their own rights in the peak Let's Play era.
When Shenron called Popo, my master and Lord Popo. It gave me hope for a short with Popo and Beerus meeting and Beerus treats Popo like Zeno and is terrified of him. 😂😂
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING US THE AFTER CREDITS SCENE! as someone who didn't get to watch the original episode 30 on your website, and has only been introduced to your abbriged series through youtube i thnak you guys for showing me this moment i previously didn't get to witness
To this day, my favorite Goku line is still “Stuffed crust King Kai! You can eat it in *reverse!*” Also I love how at 16:38, Freeza’s stuffed crust offer was so powerful that it blew part of Goku’s shirt off
I always assumed the "My ex is calling me" bit was because before he died, Yamcha had cheated on her, and they never interacted with each other after that point to make up.
18:00 Goku’s motives was a combination of that and him wanting to test himself against Frieza 100%, which is on par with his character, and Kai goes further to show that Goku simply wants to hurt Frieza in any way possible because of what he did to Krillin saying: “Before I’m done, he will BLEED”
I don't know why, but I love all these stories about reading Huck Finn in class lol. Reminds me of having to read To Kill A Mockingbird in grade 4. Those were some awkward classes...
For the lore, the Namek Dragon balls can bring back only one person at a time per wish with no limit on how many times that person can be brought back and the Earth Dragon balls at this time in the arc could bring back entire populations of people with no real restriction except that they cannot bring back someone who died once already. THIS is the reason why Krillin's death was tragic because the Namek Dragon balls were gone and it looked like he would never be able to come back again.
@1:00:45 "there's no shipping in this show, we don't ship Dende and Gohan together" bruh that ship didn't even EXIST until y'all spoke it into existence, check the dates on the fanfics 😅
If I can Hanlon’s Razor this… the teacher might have had the stupid idea that only black people can safely say the N-Word… and yet… I wouldn’t be surprised if I am 100% wrong…
I know that this video is almost a year old but i just felt like i should say how much i enjoyed the tfs gaming content back in the day. I know that lani might disagree but i loved the xenoverse games, and your playthrough increased my enjoyment of that series. I also loved the nuzlocks in fact the moon streams were the first streams of any content creators that i would regularly tune in to. I dont know if any of you will ever see this but if you do, I really want to stress how happy your gaming stuff made me.
Listening to you guys reciting goku's speech along with him gave me chills all over again! It's awesome how much passion you guys still have for your work!
32:30 That always bothered me so much. I just imagine the unlucky person who gets killed by King Piccolo, and then later absorbed by Cell. They wouldn't get wished back.
I never once begrudged you for taking all the time you needed to get it right. An essential part of Dragonball fandom is waiting for more Dragonball, so it made me feel like I was in elementary school again. You guys made something really special.
the renegade for life and krillin plays series were fucking amazing. gave more content kept yall in the algorithm and helped pay the bills. plus it gave a break from DBZA production which is important to any long term labor. much love for the whole of the stuff youve produced as a team, still entertaining.
Stuffed Crust? 3 days ago, and it was DELICIOUS. (Meatlovers to boot) In regard to the muffin button: That might also be why Goku were so insistent on it being a good thing to have a muffin button - because all the time he spent travelling to earth originally imprinted on him, THE MUFFIN BUTTON!
Something I've thoroughly enjoyed throughout this entire series of this thing that you are doing, is that you both quote the lines as they happen, just like all us fans do. It's just nice to see that level of joy in in a creator for their creation.
After Dende confesses his feelings and promptly wishes himself away, I always imagined the next line as Gohan saying "...I didn't say no." But the one sided crush is probably better. Additionally, I love the escalation through the Goku and Freeza fight, where Freeza slowly loses his pride and eloquence and becomes more angry and petulant, resorting to just shouting at Goku to piss off. But it really culminates in the moment he gets cut in half and has definitively lost, where he literally reverts back to being a child asking his daddy to pick him up. That's the perfect moment where his ego snaps, and rahter than exploding in anger or sorrow, he just defaults to, nope this game isn't fun anymore, daddy take me away from this, which perfectly illustrates what a spoiled little princess he is. It's such good writing.
This is very insightful! There whole fight has been a huge downward spiral for the space emperor, this one seemingly dumb as bricks fighter continuously surprising and one-upping him even before he became a literal prophecy-demon. He has no one to get upset for him, he has no one to fall to, Freeza's cool and calm personality is shattered like ice under constant, unrelenting pressure... And underneath, he's nothing but daddy's child.
I have said it before you guys are my favorite RU-vid channel, you guys kept me going through my darkest time. Because of you I actually started streaming and making my own content. So thank you Lani, Kaiser, Taka, Masako, ant fish and the rest of TeamFourStar. You guys are amazing and I love ya.
My 3 year old dog died last week from cancer and I needed a good laugh. You guys have been making me laugh for most of my life. I’m 27 and at least twice a year I go back and watch the series from start to finish. Thanks guys for the years of entertainment
Cant wait for the commentary for season 3. Absolute gold mine of funny lines and references. Always find myself rewatching it over and over again. Especially Vegeta & Cell 😂
Random thought that just busted into my brain. I remember that Gan headed up a really great mod called Moon and Star in Skyrim. Replaying it I heard a lot of very familiar voices when you listen to them. For some reason them mentioning Gan really gave me a brain blast back to that.
I feel so horrible. I never noticed megami33 played bulma till you mentioned her here. I’ve been listening to her covers for so long and never knew she worked on DBZA before.
I've watched this episode so many times for the past few years and it took them saying it for me to realize Goku's eyes gave stuffed crust in them. I love this show
What I really liked about that short interaction between gohan and bulma is that we are reminded that bulma is not stupid and she would actually be able to understand Gohan's... "NERDDDD!!" insults.
In return, thank you for making DBZA such an amazing show. I had a friend introduce me to it in college, when I knew nothing about Dragonball Z, and he explained the jokes and story so that I could still enjoy it fully. So now this is the only way I know the characters and story enough to have a small conversation about it.
Episode 27 was the point i started watching Yu gi oh Abridged and fell in love with Martin's voice and understood the role he had on the abridging origins, when the end of Season 2 of DBZA came along it really sadden me since we won't have Freezer anymore and when HFIL came along and Martin voiced Freezer once again made me so happy and every chapter when he appears fills me with so much joy ♥ Also i always thought on DBZA Kai Season 2 when Freezer trows the " Destructo disc " have Krilin with a halo screaming and saying " Dafuq? " and continue to scream but i guess it would drag a lot the scene Love you guys ♥
I wouldn't say Ghost Nappa was a "failed experiment" it just ran it's course. Having Nappa be alive though is great, glad you added that at the end. Also wondering if you were ever able to get that Nappa in a suit model from DB: Hero Mission
Also, guys, ngl; dude we’re all more than happy to support you guys. It’s been amazing. So genuinely. I loved watching the extra content to keep the channel, hell I bonded with friends over some of the gaming content because of the memes. And on the point of waiting…yea yea we’re used to it. _Breaths sigh in TTS, DBZA, Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, and Megaman Legends fan._ Very used to it.
I remember watching all your gaming content on repeat at night at the time. (Namely the L4D and the CAH content) just bc you guys said then ya'll needed the money and I was dying for more DBZA.
In the Jakko manga there is a bit of background info as why citizens are used to Capsule Corp being able to create disruptions as they hint to a big accident happening due to time travel testing. It makes sense as that manga is a prequel to Dragonball and it is where Bulma’s older sister and Goku’s mom shows up
Guys, once again, thank you not only for many hours of enjoyment (between DBZA, UHsA, Renegade for Life, etc...), but for these deep dive revisits as well. And while I'll keep poking and hoping about the rest of the movies and/or BuuTime (it's never gonna be BuuTime), its only because I(we)'ve loved what you do so much, that its hard to not want more... Enjoy time with yourselves and those other loved ones, and looking forward to seeing you back for this time that you're doing. (Also, that last bit on the HFIL FD special- *chef's kiss*)
