Inna, DragonForce are a British power metal band from London, England. The band was formed in 1999 by guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman, and are known for their long and fast guitar solos, fantasy-themed lyrics and retro video game-influenced sound. Other than Herman and and Sane the band has gone through quite a few member changes.
2:26 the bassist usually has a whole bottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey on his mic stand 😂 3:27 this is Power Metal. It’s typically fast, with guitar harmonies, high vocals, harmonised chorus vocals, and the lyrics are usually battles or fantasy themed. I also say it’s the easiest sub-genre of metal for non-metal fans to get into.
to me it is more speed metal as power metal does n t have to be that fast necessarily. Dragonforce seems to be mainly fast. Try Helloween who are the inventors of power metal. Keeper of the seven keys at pumpkins united live is a good one.
@@swabia1554DragonForce is pure power metal. Speed metal is like Judas Priest or Accept in some songs, like Metal meltdown (Judas Priest) or Fast as a shark (Accept).
@@KingSpooky89 Who is better is kinda subjective, but i do wish that totman got a bit more recognition. On the other hand, i get the feeling he likes being in the periphery, while herman gets along with his shenanigans XD
Some tidbits, Herman Li and Sam Totman, guitarists, wrote the guitar lines for Babymetal's song "Road of Resistance" and played them on the recording. Babymetal has also performed with Dragon Force at the Download Festival in England. Some of the best Dragon Force covers on guitar are performed by Sakura Yoshida when she was in her teens. They're on her YT channel. Herman Li has a Twitch channel where he has interviewed an number Japanese Rock/Metal Idols.
@@InnaSoloMusic +1 for Awakening! There are two "power metal" tracks I love equally and that's the other one. Unleash The Archers has a cool lady lead singer too.
Love your reaction, Dragonforce is my absolute favorite band!! Please do some more dragonforce reactions, some of their songs that you must listen to are: Three Hammers Ashes of the Dawn Cry Thunder Astral Empire Fury of the Storm.
I suggest watching a video about a 16 year old female guitarist who played this song. And mastered. The video is titled "Dragon Force - Through the Fire and Flames - Tina S Cover"
now you have to watch Tina S covering this song when she was only 15 yrs old. Even Herman Li (the guitar player in the white shirt) had to say "Holy sh*t" when he reacted to her video haha
It helps if she really understands the complexity and difficulty in playing the guitar on this song. But yes... I hope she reacts to Tina S. version of this... and a bunch of her other stuff as well!
If you liked that style you have to listen to japanese all-female band Lovebites, whose did support Dragonforce some years ago on tour… Judgement Day & Stand And Deliver are their newest MVs.
@@InnaSoloMusic Guess than I have to sub to not miss it ;) You won’t regret, they are much more versatile than dragonforce, not only doing high speed power metal but also kind-of classical or thrash metal… (guitarist/composer miyako is classically trained playin piano twice as long as guitar… watch live version of SwanSong, where she opens with Chopin inspired piano pice)… BTW, congrats for the 10000th subscriber! :)
The genre of Dragonforce is called 'power metal'... it is usually associated w/ high range vocals and lyrics about fantasy and medieval battles (often futuristic fantasy)... fast & melodic lead guitars and harmonies... and rapid fire double-bass drumming. The fantasy aspect came from (the late) Ronnie James Dio, who was a singer in Rainbow, then Black Sabbath... and then his own band Dio in 1983... Manowar is a band from New York that also introduced high vocals and songs about medieval battles from 1982. Around 1984 to 1988, a guitar legend from Sweden named Yngwie J. Malmsteen introduced his lightning-fast guitar solos and songs w/ high range metal vocals from his band Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force. He set the stage for bands to come. Helloween was the band that established themselves in (West) Germany and they perfected the dual lead attack that was more frantic than Iron Maiden and Judas Priest... They were groundbreaking in making the 'power metal' genre w/ the albums 'The walls of Jericho' (1985)... "Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. 1" (1987) and "Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. 2" (1988). In 1990, ex- Helloween guitarist Kai Hansen formed his own band Gamma Ray and made a mark in the power metal genre in the 90's... and there were a whole new crop of bands in Europe (and America) that emulated Helloween - Blind Guardian ... Kamelot ... Hammerfall ... Primal Fear ... Rhapsody (later Rhapsody of Fire)... Stratovarius ... Symphony X ... Iron Savior ... Angra ... etc. Dragonforce were formed in the late 90's and debuted in 2003 w/ the album 'Valley of the damned'... They were characterized by lighting-fast lead guitars of Herman Li and Sam Totman, and video game themes ... Z.P. Theart (vocals) was the original singer, but he was replaced in 2012 by this current singer Marc Hudson. Their 3rd album ('Inhuman rampage') in 2006 became a commercial success as the single "Through the fire and the flames' became huge on the internet. The band did not replace their keyboardist Vadim Pruzhanov when he left Dragonforce around 2015 (keyboard parts are programmed during live concerts now) ... They now have a female bassist Alicia Vigil (who replaced longtime bassist Frederic Leclerq) and Gee Anzalone (drums)... Dragonforce's last album was 'Extreme power metal' in 2019.
What I love about this besides, this is Herminie looks Asian lead singer is blonde sexy guitarist number two who is freaking awesome is English. The faces is from France and the drummer is from Italy. Come on how cool is that? I’m sorry if I’m forgetting games.
Honestly, not a fan of the current vocalist, but Herman Li is one of the best musicians in the business, mainly just because he is a down-to-earth cool guy.
It's funny I feel the same way only about his voice. I appreciate the fact that Marc carries on the legacy of DragonForce and sings live because that's important. But zp will always be the voice of DragonForce for me. And ZP sounds better in my opinion. I don't know about live because I never listened to live back then when he was still in the band. I don't really listen to the new stuff. Every once in awhile I'll listen to highway to Oblivion cuz that one's okay, but the old stuff is still where it's at
Try talking a look at some of the covers of this like "Junna" (as aflory2000 sez) or "Tina S" as others say. Its a must. DragonForce's studio version is also good.
Vrey good reaction, my request: Golden Earring ;'Radar love ,life performence 2015, the number is originally from 1973 and the band is from the Netherlands(The Hague),i think you would enjoy this as wel ,seeing the older guys perform and enyoing themselves on stage and give the audiance what they came for.
i've watched your reaction video for babymetal road of resistance and gimme chocolate... herman li the lead guitar of this band is actually the man who play for the babymetal's songs road of resistance and gimme chocolate specific for the studio version...
Hey Inna! You need to hear the whole 7m30s of this song. Sadly, the music video cuts out about a full minute from the original song. Edit: Inna, where most people know this song is as a "secret song" from the game Guitar Hero III, way back in the day. Literally, people have bled and/or destroyed guitar controllers trying to get 100% on this song in the game. And to answer your question, this is straight speed metal! It is different than power metal as the speed of the song is fast, which doesn't allow the chords and notes to "hang."
Hey Inna, I see you listen to metal and recently Pink FLoyd too. So I have something for you : Have you ever heard about "metal supergroup" ? I will let you see what it is about.... 😉😛 And if you interested you should listen to Sons Of Apollo - Comfortably Numb Live with The Plovdiv Psychotic Symphony 🤘🤘
@@InnaSoloMusic That was the point haha. A supergroup is a band made of members of different other bands. Take the best of all and made a band with them 🤘 I cited "Sons of Apollo" but you can be interested too in another one called "Bad Wolves" who makes a cover of Zombie by The Cranberries (I'm sure you know the original) a few years ago (exceptional but bring tissues with you)
