We use our portable pumping unit to pump out arrox 20 gallons of grease out of the grease interceptor in a small wash room. After pumping down the trap we use a 5/16" General drain machine to break down all grease throughout the inlet and outlet drain pipes. We then refill the trap with water to test the trap and make sure it is working at optimal efficiency.

Thanks Pete 👍... We definitely have invested in some equipment through the years to make the job easier, back in the day we would use shop vacs to clean the traps! Man did that suck and cover you in grease

Thankfully for you, this would probably be one of the last times you’d probably have to clean it in 2020 before the theatre shut down due to COVID-19, a break you hopefully got.

Condolences for getting grease on you. I used to work at a McD's as a teenager and I once got grease all over my jacket sleeve when I was dumping the grease bucket in the tank out back. Not fun. I rinsed it off with water from the hose tap, in the middle of Winter no less, and went back inside. Couldn't wait until I got home and threw that jacket into the wash.

Yeah unfortunately they are not doing a preventative maintenance frequent enough, do the grease gets super thick. At some point that will probably come back to bite them. Thanks for watching Mizz 👍

Could you use a socket on the grease trap lid instead of channel locks?

Dallas Hunt Yeah definitely, most of the time it’s the same size bolt on the top of the tank. I need to make up a grease trap tool kit that way it’s all ready to go! 👍

Ahhhh. Having just watched the first few videos, are you the company who comes round and empties these traps, as well as fix them, and then you either sell, refine into fuel, burn or dump at the sewage farm the Gunky Guzzler or GG as he’s known in the U.K. A vacuum bigger than some horses deserves a great name 😂😷 And, of course, one bets on the GG’s 🐎

Kurtis McKemmie We dump at the sewer treatment plant approx 300 gallons! Unfortunately in our area we are not allow to refine the grease! I would most indoor kitchen grease traps are 20-30 gallons so we dump every 10 pumps! Thanks for asking Kurtis 👍

We typically cable out about 20 feet through the outlet on most just or till we hit the main sewer line 👍. On a typical job like this we would probably be around $300 for pumping and cabling.
