Just a quick video on how I replaced a kinked drain snake cable in a BrassCraft BC400 Drain Cleaning Drum Style Machine. The original cable was kinked making it very difficult to use and not very effective for cleaning clogged drains.
**WARNING** Please make sure you do not plug in the machine before replacing the cable.

Nice video Dan. My problem is a little different in that (I loaned my snake to a friend - first mistake) the cable has become a bird's nest inside the drum. It comes out about 6 ft before getting stuck. I cannot find anything on-line that shows me how to remedy this. Reach in and cut it up then pull it out? I don't see a way to pull the drum apart. No good deed goes unpunished. Thanks.

I’m sorry to hear about the tangled snake issue, and you are correct in that many of the drums don’t come apart. I think you can probably still untangle it, but it takes a lot of patience and time. Make sure the machine is unplugged and you might try manually pulling it out, and/or pushing it back in and rotating the drum as needed manually until you get the old snake out. If it’s not too kinked, you can keep using it, but if it’s in bad shape, probably best to replace it. Best of luck to you! Take care, Dan
