ChrisJElias24 Thanks for pointing that out, but I what I meant was more videos of his own songs, not a bunch of covers. Now that he has the fan base, he should focus on his own songs. Not only will he put his self more out there, but he'll be paid to do so.

Wesley Embry Technically he can make a profit off of this, considering it's not an official instrumental and RU-vid does checks in the first 30 seconds of a song, if it isn't the same as the original posted then this is technically your song. The fact that he just covered the words, still makes it his version, meaning there only is an infringement on the songwriter's artistic rights, which apparently no one on RU-vid gives a shit about. So trust me he's good, also the covers expand his fanbase with every cover he makes, cause every artist/group/band has it's own fanbase, increasing the spectators at his live shows, where by the way, the real money is. Own songs are usually a waste of time, since way too little people buy them and he can achieve the same with a cover like this. On a side note: Don't take this as an attack, i'm just giving advice.

De Enige Doza. Copyrights include lyrics, so no; he can't call this his song or make money/profit with RU-vid from this video without seeing a lawsuit. You can't get paid for something someone else has already made, especially when after they make it, they go by the books and handle everything to be legally protected against someone trying to steal what they have made (copyrights). RU-vid would allow the video and audio to play since it isn't the same tone or pitch and a different instrumental, but since the lyrics are from someone else's (Drake) song that has copyrights, within the first 30 seconds of the song, RU-vid would already know they cannot pay for the views or even ad clicks because it would also go against RU-vid's own disclosure on top of the fact that they can't because of the copyrights. I do, however, agree that the covers do help expand his fan base, I never thought it didn't. I just feel that he should take advantage of the current fan base he has now and start putting more of his own songs out there, so that he can be even more known! =) (I didn't take anything you wrote as an attack).

You're absolutely correct on everything you've said about the copyright claims and such, but as you yourself stated. RU-vid allows the video and audio to play, but it also means that the function to use adsense is also triggered, so if he would please he would be able to turn it on. You're right about the lawsuits being possible, yet i doubt they would go and do all that effort for a RU-vid video, promoting their original song aswell. I never said he could call this song his, i just said he could use RU-vid to get an income on it, cause the only thing that's actually still from the original is the lyrics. But since the automated system doesn't take care of this, it is still possible to use the profit system to get paid through RU-vid. Well, at least it is on my channel, but i haven't uploaded in a while so maybe it has changed.. And true he could do that, but it's a whole another level to make your own songs when it comes down to the effort you have to put in them!
