@@Noirlore All the same it makes something much better than the song its sampled from. I say this as someone who thinks this album or "playlist" is garbage
The main thing to note with this album is that he didn’t actually call it an album, it’s a ‘playlist’ explaining the different sounds throughout the record.
That was just an excuse to make up for the lack of cohesion, it doesn’t make sense to call it a playlist and still have songs transition into each other
Florenzicles think sometimes drake fans dont like change and the uk artists some people just wouldnt rate🤷🏻♂️i just think personally for me drake is so so listenable like i honestly dont think he can bring out many poor songs😂 this album is defo upper mid which is a big credit comparing to the general opinion on this playlist
Do Not Disturb is one of those tracks where I can go months w/o hearing a single Drake song & hear that after a while & be just as amazed as the first time I heard it
@@Sadvillainy indeed , lose you , do not disturb , free smoke , passion fruit , portland , sacrifices , kmt , glow , skepta interlude I don't know , i guess it was the playlist title
More Life as a whole is criminally underrated, this project is great. As well as the outro song Do Not Disturb, literally one of if not the best Drake song of all time.
Just realised this a couple days ago, nana rogues produced the mellow Passionfruit but he also produced the skepta interlude which is mad tbh 10:28 this was quavo’s golden period, anything he hopped on he killed
@@lovestory20148 imagine saying that when objectively people who like this album are considered wrong lmfao. Drake's last 3 projects now have been just collections of music instead of actual albums that have a linear theme. Drake has been missing since views lmfao
As someone who hardly listens to UK Rap I think Skepta is insane 🔥 I actually started listening to him a lot after this project came out, no wonder he's huge there...
@@McGovernn I liked his features on More Life but I havent listened to much of his music to be honest. Seems pretty nice though a lot grimier than Skepta
Nate Copp yeh i respect that i thought skepta would appeal alot more to the us scene i dont wanna list alot of music for u to listen to but id listen to jme and giggs - man dont care
@@McGovernn haha I’m a bit late to the convo but big facts. All of JMEs songs are great. The whole UK grime scene is goated. Especially Skep, JME and Giggs.
More Life is so over hated and I’m guessing it’s because of the length or the UK influence. One of my favourite Drake Projects in recent times for sure.
More life it's my favorite drake's album. As a producer it's the one that hits so hard for me...people putting a lotta senseless shit in front of actually aprecciate the songs.
I'll always hold this album in a special place, it dropped right before my last summer in high school so songs like Blem, Madiba Riddim, and Ice Melts all remind me of that summer. I was bumping that whole album my senior year of high school as well so all these songs just bring back great memories so I can never really be subjective about this album. I appreciate the reaction.
@@MichaelGL_ ya looking back at this comment rn it's crazy how that introduction influenced my music taste considering UK rap was my 5th most listened genre last year
I’m gonna sum up the most recent recommendations you’ve been getting. Future - The WIZRD, Travis Scott - Owl Pharaoh and definitely Offset 21 savage and metro - Without Warning
I've been a lurker since you and Simon reacted to Logic's Under Pressure and your evolution in views of hiphop is super interesting! While you are discovering hiphop still you put into words what I love the most about the genre better than I could ever do. Awesome stuff!
There are 2 versions of more life... the version with do not disturb and the version without. Do not disturb is an amazing track and it really ties the whole album together
All time favorite drake album and I’ve been listening to drake consecutively every day for 5 years now. Broke the repeat button on lose you and do not disturb. Love when drake digs deep to find the most meaningful lyrics and delivers them with expert flow.
From March to August of 2017, a lot of big artist dropped albums. More Life came out in March, then a month later Kendrick and Playboi Carti Dropped, in July Tyler dropped Flower Boy, then August Uzi and X dropped as well. All really good project in my opinion. Summer and fall 2017 was the one of the best moments of my life and these albums were a huge part of it. Thanks for bringing back these memories for me!
For me it was a solid album from drake and am surprised by the feedback on this record because there are a lot of good songs and some that have substance in them as well like jorja interlude, lose you, do not disturb.
U should really check out 88Glam's music, the duo is part of the XO label but they're still underrated af... Their first self titled album "88Glam" is their best project till this day in my opinion! 🔥
i like this guy, but question. does he live under a rock or something? how is more life (and many other mainstream albums) his first listen? like how is he soooooo late to everything?
fake love came out before in a two song drop along with sneakin with 21 savage. i forget that fake love is on this and not everyone has already heard it bc it was huge when it came out. definitely give sneakin a listen
Thug actually spits mad bars on Sacrifices. It sounds like nonsense but when you analyze it you’d be surprised the slick lines he throws in. Definitely give that track another listen with genius pulled up
I remember the day this “playlist” dropped fondly. It was the beginning of the 2nd round of March Madness, and it was a tough day for me, as my Northwestern Wildcats had a chance to upset the number 1 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs, but lost after a blown goaltend call by the ref. At least I had More Life to help me get through the day
Drake got more in touch with his Toronto style when he started collaborating heavily with London/UK artists. Including the accent and slang. Dancehall and Afrobeats are heavily infused in contemporary UK music... More Life is Drake exploring those lanes.
Anyone know that low background music near the start and end of the video with the instrumental? sounds familiar. Appreciate it if anyone could help out.
"I don't take naps" lmao. Best song was 4422 (because when does Sampha ever miss?), best rap was Can't Have Everything because of the flow and it was fun! KMT had that dark vibe to it that was tight too though. Do Not Disturb is one of those Drake classics.
