I love how engaging and epic this soundtrack becomes whenever Caim turns away from his bloodlust in order to rescue someone.

@@novustalks7525 the music is lots of classical samples together. I thought a composer had got his orchestra to play this entire track straight, but of course that didn't happen

@@troywright359 as a producer myself, been working in the industry for 8 years now and even though these are samples, it's still very impressive for what it is to me. It's not that easy to "puzzle" everything together to make it work. Drakengard 1 OST is genius, it makes you feel the exact way Sano and Aihara want you to feel. I would even argue that it's actually even MORE impressive to not have gone the full midi orchestra way that lots of other composers have taken back then (Nobuo Uematsu and Koji Kondo for example, Wind Waker and FF10 PS2 version are not fully orchestrated, most of their composition is VST based). It takes some actual BALLS to try something like this back in 2003. 2 composers that come to my mind that did something similar is Yamaoka from the Silent Hill series and Takada on the "The Silver Case" game by Suda51. A bit in the same vibe but less sample based too, both in their own style. Something with Drakengard 1 just clicks and it wouldnt be the same with a real orchestra, I'm glad they did this. It's unique and I don't know anything that sounds like it, in video games ofc. One of the most popular artist that pretty much sounds like this today with very heavy usage of samples is The Caretaker with his "Everywhere at the End of Time" collection and even this doesnt sound that close to Sano's work. But yeah, Drake 1 is pretty much some vaporwave before it was even a thing. Classical orchestra vaporwave music. Damn that sounds silly lol. I love it.

@cyn1stre yes, Drakengard 2 and Drakengard 3 unfortunately aren't as good with their music. There are additional pieces of music from Drakengard 1 with different sample variations, I just wish we had clean access to them all. I agree that this is better than using midi like in FFX. It still remains one of my top 5 videogame osts ever

This track represents Caim's will to actually care enough for someone he's capable of helping them. Sounds heroic but still broken at the same time.
@cybertruckeralpha

In this chapter, Caim sets his lust for battle aside, turning it into a legitimate rescue effort. The music is less broken, more focused, even heroic. Caim is still mad--nothing can change this--but this is a tempered madness; madness dabbling with morality.

Fitting how the only song in the game that sounds like music belongs to the only character who isn't insane or dead inside.

Sample in the first 10 seconds is Dvorak's "Carnival" overture, op. 92 (around after 1m mark) The string sample at 20s mark is probably "From the New World" symphony (3rd movement), but I'm not sure.

At least in this timeline. In "1.3", he's more selfish and spoiled, not enjoying how his mother suddenly decided to love her two children just because the Cult got to them, convincing the woman Manah was special. He took some pleasure in his mother's death and Manah's heart breaking.

This track somehow sounds a lot like Dvorak's New World Symphony to me. A lot of the tracks I've heard so far sound heavily inspired by it, alongside some Stravinsky, what with all the odd rhythms they'll have in the more "chaotic" tracks earlier on

Why do you think pedophilia happens ? They were children too, and some of them have to have studied what acting on it does. Plus, we're litterally the only animals capable of developing it. But why ? How ?

@@I.HEAR.A.SOUND.which one don't you understand ? The first one asks you, as someone who relates ti Leonard, why you think pedophilia exists at all, and why humans are the only species capable of grasping such concept ? The second one asks you, as a human, how do you think humanity would realistically react if the stuff that happens in fantasy games happened in real life ? Would we react like people in the "Soulsborne" saga universe/"Drakengard", or like in sagas such as "Final Fantasy" ? Or do you think both dark and light fantasy are valid interpretations of human behavior towards magical threats ?

@@JabamiLain for the first question I think it's because of hormonal imbalances at birth that causes irregularity in the brain, and I think humans are the only ones capable of 'grasping' said concept because we're the only species that don't begin to breed as soon as fertility sets in because we no longer need to For the second one, I think they'd probably have a militaristic reaction and just try to bomb the shit out of everything to solve their problems, and then if that doesn't work they'd give up hope. Realistically we have no chance against something like the watchers and so I imagine the vast majority, if not everyone, would die
