This really feels like a nostalgic, yet melancholic look back at Drakengard 1. It was dark, twisted, and immensely depressing, but after being away from the monotonous gameplay/music, just remembering the good parts and listening to this song really just gives you an almost nice version of what could've been. I know Drakengard's point was that the cast were so thoroughly awful people that they don't deserve a happy ending, but this rendition really makes me sit down and think about what things could've been like if the world of Drakengard wasn't so horrible, what it would be like if the characters learned to peacefully coexist, laugh, and smile with one another. Maybe them around a campfire and having friendly conversation, Caim just silently listening and smiling occasionally, also imagining Caim and Angelus just being able to exist with one another again, maybe Furiae having a normal life with Inuart and Caim being a good brother (though it is hard to overlook the inc3st...) I just recently replayed Drakengard after almost a decade of playing it when it came out years ago, and this hits harder than ever. I imagine an ending where the cast, even with how bad they are, all get some happy ending in some way. And yes, I know that the game is thematically against that due to Yoko Taro shenanigans, but I just can't help but want Caim and crew (maybe not Leonard, and even though her brain was broken with the loss of her family, Arioche is also not on that list of deserving to be redeemed lol) to finally catch a damn break and live life.
This is such a beautiful arrangement. I've been listening to this for years but it never stops moving me! You made such a chaotic piece so delicate and depressing I LOVE IT SO MUCH
I love the original version, it's haunting. But hearing it like this makes me kinda happy. All of the OST from Drakengard 1 was chaotic, it made it seem like it'll always end bad, so the fact that such a chaotic song can sound so pleasant kinda makes me think Drakengard 1 can have a happy end? It's a stretch but hey, it's nice to think about :D
Zero: I'm so fucking tired of these garbage responsibility Caim: *Tired of being angry and want to smash dragon instead* Nier: Yay finally defeated all the shades! can rest now *doesnt realize he just fucking ended humanity* 2B 9S: realizes they literally fought for nothing
This... i can't even describe it, Is just pure musical poetry. Really magical. I don't know how you did it, but after just one listening i'm in love with this! Really, really, REALLY, a fantastic job!
You have better luck doing by ear. Or maybe you can rewrite it on a music program by ear, then convert that into sheets. I used to do something similar a while back. But nice to see that there are still people around to hear this. It's fitting this was the last song
Instant subscribe! Amazing work! I hope to see much more from you guys. I've been deprived of Drakengard fan covers. I need more!!! Also, do you guys plan to make a piano arrange for "This Silence is Mine"? Would love to hear that.
Thanks for the upload. If you don't mind if I could transcribe and arrange it to the classical sonata, then let me know if I have grant permission to use this as reference.
