No joke, I had tof downloaded but I hadn’t opened it in a long while. After watching a couple minutes of this I was like “oh tof exists I’m gonna try it out and see if it’s good or not”. I spent some time on it, decided it was still a trash game and deleted it. Then whale guy comes over saying that this guy is stopping people from playing the game. what's funny about all of this, is that when the drama started, I thought "oh right, ToF exists, I think i'll check it out, maybe they have some rewards for returning players" and then the whale boy convinced me not to come back, because that's the community i would never want to deal with. Ironically he thinks he's preserving an oasis of a community when in reality, if they are as sensitive as him, they are closer to a cespool
I dunno what server that guy's on, but the one I still play on is mostly just a normal MMO general chat any time I see if there's someone calling out a world boss or not? None of these games have good communities when you look at the entire community, the general chats are always cesspools. The community you should look for in any online game remains the friends list and guild mates sort of stuff. A smaller group of people that have been filtered down a bit can actually get along with each other, sometimes even when they disagree about things. But a huge mob of random anonymous strangers, might as well just go browse 4chan boards or something.

If they're small enough that most haven't heard about them, a game community will probably shit on them for not being relevant. If they're big enough, then they get what I saw in BDO the other day before Asmon even got out of the character creation. A bunch of weirdoes claiming he was going to make the game more toxic by being there. The reality is, if they'd just not even brought him up or responded to anyone that did, no toxicity would have even occurred beyond the usual stuff they always had. It's like they set troll bait out for themselves to let people from the Twitch chat troll them, and then happily took the bait.
Again you shouldn't judge the community on this alone. New era server is busy and full of nice and helpful players. I've had zero issue since I played it.
I still play TOF till to this day im on 50 50 with each persons, some things i agree with and some i don't but homie really didn't have to do all of this for attention. He just gotta face the fact that TOF is just in a chill spot right now

Yeah it has become a community teccy. They did a few server merges fusing smaller servers together and now theres discords of different crews linking up with each other and intelinking via meals chat to link up with others on other servers. Its developing onto something nice and many servers are being close nice and nice to each other

Tony took this drama in a completely different direction, the main issue the TOF community has with Mr. Stix is just the fact that he had been making the same "TOF is dead" video every few weeks for 10 months straight without even changing the script too much the whole time. It's not called "being constructive" if all you're doing is looking at the revenue charts and player counts btw. It's mostly a problem because it fills RU-vid feed about the game with garbage and because Asmongold is very eager to react to that garbage (Asmon is generally more constructive and less negative about the game, only his video titles are Stix style).

I love tof and never stopped playing it since day 1. Yea it had its growing pains, but just like any game, it comes down to how the devs listen and improve. they did and it's a lot better and characters are great. World's are beautiful although innars gave me motion sickness, but overall, I still find myself grinding and looking forward to their next move. I recommend trying it for a while during a patch release and especially in the next 2 weeks for the 1 year anniversary. I spent less than 100 bux on this game in a year so it's not too bad and does not make me want to overly spend so I think it's very f2p friendly

Wow, except for the part when Stix bitched about the vtuber and the tof community thing, these 2 videos are really the definition of Drama. Especially at the end, when the dude was pissed of from the Drama-video-are-ludicrous, but then his drama video got the 3000% of his usually numbers. Kinda sad how this logic works everytime, not gonna lie, but it works.
I mean I can sympathize with that little whale. To him TOF may be a very important aspect of his life, no joke. He may have bonded with people, found an audience and generally had a good time while playing and streaming the game. I understand that he may feel anxious and hurt when people from the outside are pointing out that this game isn't doing very good, criticize it and all that. But you just have to deal with it or ignore it and keep doing your thing. Instead this whole drama made you look very detached from reality. Also, thanks for the laughts, Teccy! Frustrating thing is that when creators focus on a certain gacha for content, you immediately start to see them diss their past gacha in the guise of "offering" constructive criticisms, there is almost never any harmony in the four kingdoms. Also them being a rich Chinese company suddenly makes it not okay for people to defend the game they have built a community in. When can people like Tectone understand that all big corporations want money and are abhorrently greedy by nature especially so the gacha genre. He knows this fact clearly with his past frivolous money dumping habits(improved). The playerbase and content creators don't primarily defend the game just to wank a chinese empire off. They love the game and honestly a person of Stix calibre (bigger content channel by nature so he gets pushed more by YT algorithm) should at least play the game more before offering "credible" constructive criticism. Remember the game journalist who got stuck on the tutorial stage of cuphead? It's similar scenario. The only way a creator can truly "claim" a game is dying or needs fixing is when they are actually playing the game. You don't just hop into a nba court with your high school athletics, get demolished, then offer the other team drills to improve. Rexlent another content creator who focuses on PGR but also offers strict criticisms for some other games he played, difference is he grinded the hell out it despite not being a long time veteran of certain games, investing time and money.

Online games depend A LOT on a good community and showing how absolutely toxic it can be isn't a good look. I still enjoy and play ToF myself and this is just an embarrassment. This is way more damaging than a content creator giving a game a bad review! And even then, who cares? A content creator is entitled to their opinions about a game. Besides, let's be real; ToF isn't an amazing game anyway. Yes I enjoy it and it's gotten a lot better since the last updates. I actually enjoy fighting and exploring a lot more than I do Genshin because it feels faster paced. But someone else might not like it. And that's fine. Each to their own! Why go up in arms about it if someone doesn't like it? Who cares if MMOByte didn't check out the newest content when they made the negative videos about ToF? The game still starts off at the start for new players, meaning it's still content that IS relevant, as this is the make or break period that's either gonna hook a player or deter them. Hardly anyone is gonna wade through hours of content they don't enjoy with the possibility it might get good and they'll enjoy it. This is also why it is even possible to review ANY game after playing for only an hour. You either like it from the get go, or it's game over. Though, I am lost. Thanks to the drama and publicity...we have old players coming back to ToF...some of us still enjoy this game and are happy when we hear returning players say they miss the gameplay
i will agree that gacha games can be predatory but tower of fantasy feels special due to how generous it is to F2P and those that just want to enjoy the story. The community is very friendly and me joining my first crew in the first few weeks were welcoming. I really wish this game had more coverage.
our community is not toxic its just a handful of weirdos but its still a fact that stix is just shhting on tof while having no knowledge of the game and the mechanics etc which is fine but making a tof dies video every 2 weeks is just annoying
are they toxic, cause at this point nobody is literally making mention of it. I know Genshin players when before the game came out, were planning to head on there and cause trouble on their twitter feed. So be nice to have some confirmation if the community is or is not toxic instead of the whole "He said, she said" debacle with no straight answers or providing proof.
@@Megamanexe It's (more or less) an MMO, the community is what you'd expect. Interact with randoms, and you get whatever you get on a day by day basis. On the server I play on, I basically just have five particularly annoying people blocked and the game chat is able to exist in an acceptable state somewhere between LFG and Barrens chat from WoW.

I watched LazyPeons videos. Because he actually "plays through" like he reached end game in tower of fantasy, got all the rewards and everything. He always does these updates like "is this game still playable in 2023". Then proceeds to play for a thousand hours to record content for his videos.
