Ironically, the Ted Arcidi figure is superior to some of the figures of top card names that were produced later on. At 48 years old, i am the proud and first time owner of two, well preserved figures. Saludos, Jason! ☕️😎👍
That metal trash can with Hulk on it behind you in the video really took me back. I had that exact trash can in my room as a kid, I remember there was a Warrior one as well. I was a huge Warrior fan, and truth be told, I still am!
I always thought this figure was Billy Jack Haynes before you had access to all the information in the world on Google in seconds. I got a milk crate full of LJNs from a family friend in New Brunswick one summer. How was I to know they’d make a figure for Ted Arcidi. It was only when I googled his matches 30 years later that I learned he was a baby face bodybuilder from Boston. That’s all I know.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming, thanks. Looking forward the an up all night its been awhile. Its interesting to me what other GenXers do during weekends since a handful of us don't party, club, hang at bars, or just do the "normal" people whatever stuff. BTW I don't know if you knew but Sika Anoa’i passed away this week.
When I got the Ted Arcidi figure a few years ago, I showed him to my sister. She said he looked like one of her ex-boyfriends. I took a second look and saw that he did..:at least from the neck up.
I'm not sure if the hardcore LJN collectors would hate this idea, but it might have been cool to see a real quick comparison to the Dr. Death XOX figure when you were talking about how you used to play with the Ted Arcidi figure.
That custom stand is fantastic. Sometimes it's hard to believe Arcidi got a figure and Butch Reed, Danny Davis, Dino Bravo, Moondogs, etc. didn't get one. They must have had big plans for him at one point. Cool video.
Two of my wrestling magazines from January, 1990 have different ads for the LJN figures sold through The Wrestling Ring. The first has the 1989 figures for $16.99 each. The second ad has a bunch of 1986-1988 figures for $11.99. I initially thought it was kinda weird that they were selling figures based on characters who weren't in the WWF anymore, like Ted Arcidi and Ken Patera. But after watching a lot of the LJN reviews you've done and hearing your stories about growing up with these figures, i've come to understand that kids back in the day didn't necessarily care if they knew the character or not.
He really was an awful wrestler. Figure is great. I didn't have that one as a kid, never even saw it in person. I woud've loved it. I probably would also have used him as Doc Death. I'd would've put him in many matches against Hogan, since even the Hulkster would have trouble overcoming his power! You know.
