Fantastic video. Such amazing vistas. Water people, with skill and comfortable with the sea. My people. But, again I see Nederlandders using an oar to steer, not a rudder. Is that a cultural preference. Does it have some advantage? I am curious. Thank you for sharing this joyful time.
Hi Kevin. I'm not a Drascombe owner... yet. I have a Hunter but plan to buy a Coaster this year or next. They use an oar to steer only in the shallows as the rudder lifts rather than pivots so can cause damage if they hit something underwater. As I understand it a lot of the Drascombe sailing in the Netherlands is around the IJsselmeer and Frisian islands where there a lot of shallows and shoals. Fair winds. Jeff
