Pooping Buffalo I have a few PhD Architecture professors. They went to college, got their master's and their doctorate. But most have up to a master's. It's not that hard to continue education here in Brazil. It's common.
@poopingbuffalo2095

Catarina Queiroz That's super interesting. I had no idea. I'm in the United States. From what I remember in college only one university in Hawaii offers a doctorate. I was actually calling my teacher in arch studio1 professor until he told me otherwise
@CatarinaQuei
@CatarinaQuei 7 лет назад
Pooping Buffalo It is! The Federal University is free! Actually we pay high taxes. But the basics of a developed country should be good education, right? I hope we get there someday. And if you score high enough in your Master's or Doctor's application test you can receive a scholarship and get paid to study! I don't know if foreign students can too. My husband is studying for his doctor's on a full scholarship. He can focus more on the research if he doesn't have to worry so much about how to pay the bills. :)

I am a sixty year old architect and I am still learning and evolving in my profession and my understanding of architecture and life. Studying and working in architecture is a challenge but it is also an immense joy and satisfaction and I never regret it. Your videos are essential to understanding and improving one's approach to improving ones skills and building a mindframe of an architect. I know that each of us embarks on this fantastic voyage alone and it is essential to have access to lessons that teach us the realities and skills to progress and succeed in architecture. Your videos are elegant, professional, and demonstrate the high standards and satisfactions each of us must achieve.

Two things: Interesting use of red text. Normally I reserve red text for when I'm red lining a drawing, but admittedly I find the red text pleasing to the eye. I may adjust a drawing to see how it turns out. Second point. While I now use Chief Architect for my drawings, I used LT for years and still have it on my computer because I just love controlling my drawings to that point. I could have dumped LT, but the control freak in me keeps it around for special projects. CA is so automated it sometimes takes the fun out of the whole creative process, rather than add to it. Good video serious. Keep up the great work.

This may sound absolutely ridiculous, but when I was in architecture school, I could not "think" on canary yellow trace. It was required at our school at Drexel University. I would design on white trace, and then present my drawings on canary. The teachers never knew I did this. I had SUCH a mind block looking at yellow, but with white, my ideas would just flow. Back when I was in school, the internet didn't even exist. There is SUCH a wealth of information out there. I'm teaching middle schoolers Intro to Architectural now, and your videos are inspiring. Keep them up!

after 47 years of drawing, i very rarely sketch, i scribble. I scribble good enough to get my idea where I can go right to cad. There are two of us and we did 250 projects last year. One thing I have learned, buildings today do not last forever. Another local architect designed 3 buildings for a new start up bank. He spent a lot of time with the design and was meticulous with all of the details and selected a beautiful brick. The bank was sold and the first thing the new bank did was add these stupid decals with different sized dots. The bank was sold again and the new bank painted the brick tan and brown, and added awnings. There you have it.

I am not an architect, but rather I am an artist. Nevertheless, I find your channel of great value. Something that has puzzled me for some time is the math behind foreshortening. I know for instance if a beam points mostly straight at the viewer, the end facing the viewer will appear out of perspectively large. I also understand that because this is something that occurs in a photograph, it must have a mathematical formula that explains it. I think that this would be of great help not only to me as an artist, but to architects as well. Anyone striving for a realistic representation of a concept drawing could benefit from this. Therefore, I respectfully request that you make a show on the algorithms of foreshortening.

You explained it in such great details, I really can't wait to get the items needed to start drawing😍😍😍😍. I've always been interested in drawing houses and interested in making my own floor plans,but I never take any architecture class at all so I didn't know how to draw properly, everything looks the same, because I only use 1 pensil/ pen with the same intensity when pulling it( drawing) so everything looks 2D only😥😥. Now that I've watched your video,it gives me a much better understanding on how to create 3 D design by differentiating the intensity of the pencil used. Thank you so much for sharing this video,I really appreciate what you've done,you have no idea how much this means to me 😇😇😇

Good Video. Even though I haven't done any real sketching for years it was great to watch you do it. These tips are timeless.

Eric another Great Video, I have a very similar style and process to you but of late found it hard to translate this to the young members of staff in my small practice, they only like to draw in one line weight. (White 0 DRIVES ME NUTS and i send it back to them to change) because like you say "what is important" and what are you trying to describe to your client without you being there. I'm going to share this with them and set a challenge to see how close they can get to this type of style its never been about time as i still see it as art however they see it as a job which worries me for the future of architecture.

Couldn't agree more +Barry Stott-Brookes...this one is kind of a personal crusade of mine, glad to have you on board! So tired of seeing single line weight drawings. This is a craft, right? Cheers...

Thanks for making a video including lineweight. I heard it somewhere before but was confused what it meant.

Oh God I have the exact same pentel pencil like, same, same. I broke that bottom part too. Wishing I cold be as good as you, though. Anywayy thank you for your videos! Finally someone on the internet could help me with everything related with architecture. I'm currently on a project to design an Urban Villa (this semester's final studio project in uni) and in three weeks I'll do the dispaly for my design but I still got a lot to do (I'm still working on the floor plan). Good luck to you!
