To all those asking about my mum. She is still an alcoholic (she has been for over 15 years now) and she shows no signs of recovery. She still has her good days and her bad days. Last year she had a "mini stroke" which damaged her brain and she's very bad at remembering things now.

I watched this 7 years ago not understanding what Lizzie went through. Seven years later I realize she went through a lot and she truly made sure all of our childhoods were great with her uplifting and positive videos We love you so much Lizzie!!

As a 10-ish year old I didn’t realise how sad this was because it was my normal. Lizzie gave me the strength to speak out about my own childhood, it gave me the childhood I missed out on her beautiful personality and videos would always helped me leave the world I used to live in and I will always be forever grateful ❤️❤️💗

coming back to this 7 years later when i can fully grasp the intensity of these situations is really hard. lizzie is such a resilient, kind person and im just so proud of her and all of the work she's put into herself and her life to get where she is. role model then and role model now

i grew up in a pretty similar situation to hers. i won’t bore you with details but my dad was an alcoholic in and out of rehab and my mom passed away when i was young. when i watched this video at the time, i felt so seen and so inspired. thank you for being someone amazing i can look up to, lizzie

So we really ignoring the fact that Lizzie had such a struggle with her life with the alcoholic mom and she lost her only cat yet she still stayed happy and independent and did the things she love and got the guy IN THE END. i never realised how sad her home life was until i grew up, wow.

its so sad looking back at the fact that lizzie gave all of us the childhood she never had. lizzie is like a second mom to me, and i honestly think she was more in my childhood than my actual mom was thinking back. although her videos don't have the same appeal that it did to my younger self, i still watch all of her and her friend's uploads because it gives me that sense of security that i don't necessarily get outside of the internet. you are so strong lizzie!!

i love lizzie so much, i've been watching her for years since i was a little kid. she was my childhood and i still like to watch her now. she is such a positive and kind person, she's creative with her contents and nice to her fans, im so happy that she's having a happy life now married to joel. back then watching this i didnt really understand what happened but now i do and it is so touching too see despite every horrible thing that's happened to her in the past, she still managed to became a great person now. bless you lizzie 💝 lysm!!

i cant believe as a child i didn’t even realize how hard her life was

When I first found Lizzie’s channel I never thought this video was sad because I related to some of the things like my parents shouting, being about a year younger than one of my sisters and my parents getting divorced. You are very strong Lizzie and I absolutely love you for that.. A reason why I fell in love with your channel around 6 years ago was because I related to you so much. Thank you Lizzie for being a comfort in my life and something I watched for a while now! I remember every series you’ve been in, I remember you and Joel getting engaged and later on married! You also made me find out about other channels that made me feel happy. I love you so much Lizzie and I will forever remember you in the future!

this video has helped me so much for years. she had very similar experiences as a child that I had at the time I first watched this. As a young child watching someone I admire understand what it's like was very comforting. As I'm getting older I relate to her teenage life now and I'm so happy she made this video.

Came back here after 6 years and realized how sad her childhood was, she gave us the childhood she didn't have and I am so happy for that, thank you Lizzie for making us happy throughout the years, and I hope you continue living the beautiful life that you have right now!

I didn't realise how much I relate to Lizzie's childhood so intensely, it gives me hope.

My mom has asthma and she is now 52 yet she had me when she was 40 and it is kinda late to have a child she is getting very sick and I'm afraid she might die before I get through middle school watching your videos gives me hope everyday so thank you for being a youtuber and making wonderful videos

I feel like most people on RU-vid have a rough life, and that's why we come to watch youtubers like you, that's what brings us all together, when I first started watching youtubers I thought "their lives are perfect" I was wrong. All of us have been through rough times, I haven't seen my mom in 2 years, but I work through it and stand up for what I believe, I don't let people walk over me, and I can think my mom for that.When she left I was weak...but I'm a stronger person thanks to her and the RU-vid community even though I don't know many of you please, please never doubt yourself.

That was really inspiring. Usually in draw my Life you hear those perfect little stories and people who don't have those perfect stories shy away. But it is good to have some representation and relatability of the less perfect stories. Thank you for being brave and sharing your story. I had to care for my ill and disabled mom and my disabled brother throughout my childhood and on top of that deal with an father who was overworked and turned abusive. Taking care of my brother and the bond I had with him really pulled me trough though. Know you are not the only one out there. I am really glad you found your place in the world and I hope to find my place one day too.

I remember starting to watch your videos for the first time 5 years ago. I never really paid any attention to this video, thinking since it wouldn't be about minecraft, it would have been boring. The first time I watched this, I really thought nothing of it since I had no sound on, but watching again now, I realise that I owe you the biggest thank you I could ever say. This was very inspiring for me because My mum died from WAY too much alcohol and my dad was always drunk... and I was the only child... and I was overall and still sad and uncomfortable... but now I found my dream boy!

The fact I remember this exact day this was posted and still watch her till this day, she’s stayed longer than any of my friends..

I like to come back to this video every time i'm having a hard time in my life and while my struggles are very different it's just lovely to hear from someone iv'e admired since before this even was origionally posted that there is a way out and a way to push through and grow as a person and fulfill your dreams.

I only started watching you last year so I'm not nearly as familiar with your channel as many other people, but it is still fascinating to hear your backstory. Surprisingly, it is pretty similar to mine, which is comforting and encouraging. I appreciate your vulnerability, I think that's why I tend to not expect such backstories from big RU-vidrs, simply because most don't discuss the harder parts.

I have not watched this video since I first saw it in 2016 back then I didn't understand why Lizzy made her childhood sound bad because it was my childhood I thought it was 100% normal and that everyone went through those things. Now over 7 years later I understand that it was not normal and I think this video was the first time I ever questioned it. It's crazy to see how life has changed and how this video may have created an insane butterfly effect in my life. Lizzy, I know you'll never see this but thankyou

I know at some point I’d watch Lizzie as a kid, along with Joel, dantdm, smajor, Ollie, Joey and a lot of other people. They were an escape from home and practically raised me. Oh my god, this broke my heart. I never realized that the biggest part of my childhood barely had one. You’re really strong, and one of my biggest inspirations. My grandfather passed away almost four years ago, and it absolutely destroyed me. Watching your videos made me feel much happier. Thank you

Lizzie really saved me in my time of need. When I was nine years old, I lost my 21 year old sister due to s*cide a couple of weeks before Christmas. This really devastated my family, especially my mom. Since it was Christmas break, I would be home everyday listening to my mom sobbing in her room. My other sister who is older than me (12 at the time) was also super upset and never wanted to do anything with me. Sure I was sad, but since I was only 9 at the time I still wanted to continue on in life and have fun. So after my sisters death I was really lonely and depressed myself. But that’s when I discovered RU-vid, and more specifically LDShadowlady. Watching her everyday laughing and having fun and making me laugh really helped me get through this tough time of my life. Lizzie, you were and still are my hero. Thank you ❤️

I can relate to her story so much. My parents are also fighting. At night I lay in bed, and I hear them screaming at each other, cursing, and I just cry. I really have been so sad just because of all the fighting that has been happening, but this story helped me realize that life will give you bad things, but in the end it will do you some good.
