Drawing Arcane: VI & Jinx | drawholic 

Its realistic but they enhance human traits like bigger eyes and smaller faces long legs and extreme bodys like how slender jinx is how long vi legs are. Also tjeir hair isn’t realistic bc its not detailed enough and the volume makes no sense like how older jinx’s side hair piece is puffy and full of volume, that cant be done with normal hair lol (unless you use a shit ton of hair gel or spray but her hair is soft and silky u see it move) so its not realistic.Also u can’t be born with pink or blue hair but that’s obvious to everyone. Thanks for coming to my ted talk Edit : that may seem like i dont like the art but i actually love that its not completely realistic i think tjats what makes it different from just watching a movie with real humans. The art is unique and i really love how you can see brush stokes sometimes it has that feel. Its really beautiful i love how they mixed cartoon traits and photo realism. Thats the kinda art i LOVE. I think if you’re gonna make animated movies lr shows u should take advantage of making the people look different from real humans like making the traits exaggerated thats the benefit of art its that u can create a world that is totally different from ours. Its so cool and for those who dont like "cartoons" they are missing some great stuff.

its called semi realism if your curious :) its that in between cartoon and realism, tends to have mostly realistic proportions but colouring can vary greatly from completely flat to completely rendered like the video :)

the reason you see it this way is because they employ the realistic light and majority of bone structure. Yet they still maintain the anime-ish style around the eyes and skin texture. also the animators did a great job at adjusting the character's facial expression as well as subconscious micro movement: body twitching, lips shaking, eyes tremoring...etc. However they purposefully make the effects and highlights 2D with harsh lines, that's how they achieve this desired outcome. I think they either have someone from the studio that worked on Spiderman: Multiverse, or they are highly inspired by that animation style and study really hard at it. Cause they are very similar in terms of style.

Yeah man Arcane's storyline hit me like a ton of bricks. Had more serious tones than a lot of non-animated films, including the way Powder/Jinx's mental illness is handled. I've no interest in League, but even I thought it was an A+ series.

Why do you think this is something new? Animes like cowboy bebop or neon genesis evangelion did it almost 30 years ago

@@farah9902 He seems to have had extensive amount of private studies and probably made a fraction as many works, I'd imagine one would make very little to no mistakes.

@@thrownaway6020 actually, the sketch is there, but faint graphite is difficult for a camera to pick up. So you only really notice when he outlines it with color

Everyone makes mistakes but obviously he only posts the stuff he is proud of. Even him isnt always perfect. Unperfect art is not bad art so dont think that way. Everyone starts somewhere and everyone has bad days for the 10 drawings you do there might only be one that is good and its okay. Dont try to be perfect just try to learn and always get better but not in a harsh way, otherwise you will get discouraged when a drawing has flaws.

as an artist myself, id guess something of this caliber takes 10-15hrs. But if the work rate is particularly low it couldve taken as long as 30

I often take for granted how non artist think it’s so cool. It turns out, the better you get at it, the more you see the world as shapes in perspective instead of appreciating the whole picture :(
