Stumble on this during my own.. adventures.. in drawing. Been drawing for years, but if anything I feel I've gotten worse. Anxieties. I also keep treating it like learning math; just figuring out a tool. I think my biggest hurdle is learning to enjoy it. Kinda curious about that book though; I've tried plenty, but you mentioned addressing a few more hurdles than Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain.. which I should probably start using again..
Note that you have said "we all see the same things but we all see differently because of our perception" but that we all 'see' the same thing. But we don't because what frames our perception is what we know, we see things we know more clearly than things we don't, we see nothing without having an idea or a name for the subject
I don't think there is a question about what the subject matter is in the art work, but rather how to reproduce said subject. The purpose of this exercise is to stop using what you know and focus on what's in front of you. If asked to draw a balloon, most people will draw what they have encountered in the past accessing their schema, but when you're tasked to draw that specific balloon in front of you in particular, it becomes a tug of war between what you perceive with your eyes and what you've perceived in the past. So, as long as your eyes work you should be seeing the same thing everyone else is looking at thus representational drawing requires you to observe and report those details accurately onto your canvas using this artists methods.
@@klemhopper that’s also why there’s an art form called Photography, and in the same vein it’s like saying you can get a maid to keep your house clean rather than doing it yourself. If drawing something representationally is not your cup of tea there’s nothing wrong with expression or abstract. Many artists love those art forms, but don’t discount individuals that pride themselves in honing their skills at representational art.
@@RPO808My comment, that you've taken exception to ,is "we all see the same thing" I said that is incorrect. I didn't say anything about representational art or whether it's worth doing
Me encanto , hace años empece con Betty y seguí con Bridgman , loomis, harold speed, vilppu, y muchos más todo lo que decís es imprescindible , saludos desde uruguay abrazos
