Awesome! I especially like the top, as I hate threading string through a little hole. I like to make my own strap for a few reasons: it’s more economical and like to sew the two ends together leaving a finished strap. I've been making lined bags, but I have some canvas fabric and thought it would be best not to use lining since the fabric is so heavyweight. Thank you very much for this tutorial.

thanks for this. I will use a wider strap (adjusting size of casing) as the narrow cord will bother my shoulders.

This is a wonderful technique. I made a lined drawstring bag that has lasted about three years (the top casing is fraying). I am going to take it apart, cut it down, and use your technique to remake two bags. Win!

I’m thinking I can do the quilting about 1 in smaller so the batting is not right to the edge to decrease bulk in the seams. What are your thoughts? ❤❤

I like the way you did the top. I will have to try it on my next bag. I made draw string bags for my grandkid to use on our vacation. I used yardage and folded it so I didn’t have to sew the bottom and did French seams on the sides. I also used grommets on the bottom to put the strings through.

I used your idea of 1/2 yard instead of 2 fat quarters and it works perfectly and faster too. My local fabric store sells rolls of 1/2 yard materials so I have lots to choose from.😁

@@yokeiseasy they were all preschoolers then. I did tie a knot to shorten the strings which they can let out as they get bigger. Today they are 6, 5 and 4. The bags work great but it take them some time to sort out how to use them. At first we had to help them put them on.
