I learned that shit the hard way. When I was married, My ex-wife and I made improvements on a home with a verbal rent to own agreement. We moved-in in February of 2011 and by December the landlord came to the house and my ex-wife showed are the improvements we made. A month later instead drawing up a purchase agreement, she sign a rental agreement and decided not to sale the house to us anymore.
