We used to go in there as kids right to the end with bike torches, its not changed much in 40 years , just the added roadways for the coal, the collapse at the far end looks just the same as 40 years ago. It was such a cool place to explore, not far from the entrance is a water treatment plant which used to be a colliery, they used one of the shafts to store water.

What i find worrying is, if that tunnel does collapse, whats been built above it that’ll ultimately sink!

At 19:24. That's a "Slusher", A bucket that is drawn on a cable along a stope to the adit end and emptied, then hauled back again by the cable on its back end which goes to a pulley on the other side of where the spoil is to be removed. It uses a double drum winch that pays out cable to the pulley end as it draws the bucket towards it.

9:58 The recess in the wall was for safety. If people were in the tunnel while a train was passing, they could duck into the recess to avoid getting hit!

The roller is a rope pully they would be set about every 10mtrs along the trackbed. They would help prevent friction of the rope dragging along the floor. The large electric boxes are gate end boxes or switch gear.

That tunnel is sketchy, at best. On the raised part almost at the end of the video, several colapses canbe seen, where bricks have fallen or are about to. Looking forward to the next chapter. Have a great weekend, mates.

Scary! a coal mine in a railway tunnel, could be either Nottinghamshire, or South Yorkshire. Queensbury tunnel was once home to some coal mining activity too!

some great finds in unexplored areas looking for signs of the old world. have you guys ever research the worlds fairs locations? these hightech fairs were all over the world and then partly demoloished for some strange reason.

if this is the place if found after a quick search then there are tons of articles and photos of this place. quite far from unexplored. probably the one of the most easy ones to figure out tbh

That coal mine could be reopen in a few months with a good crew. With the war going on with Russia , local coal is away a good opinion. 😊

OH I have something creey there. At 0:57 until 0:59 far in the distance of the dark tunnel a light can be seen far in the background very little one. Make the screen on maximum, then you can see it -they were not shining the flashlight there.Did any of you see it too ?? They were not alone there..?? :O
