Showing how Draymond Green does a little bit of everything defensively for the Warriors #nba #basketball #goldenstatewarriors #losangeleslakers #draymondgreen
Another thing i like about this guy, he docent try to be your friend with all the "Thanks for clicking on this video" "Give this video a like" "Dont forget to subscribe". He just comes, yells his stuff and abruptly leaves 😂
@@jamesbatcho What does ‘22 have to do with anything? I just dislike cheaters and players that are dirty. Draymond doesn’t cheat, but he sure as hell is dirty. He’s not the only dirty player in the league, but he’s the topic of this video, so that’s why I commented.
The ONLY reason the Warriors put up with his overblown tantrums, technicals, and ejections, are because of this superior defense effort. They know the details (and the rest of the league does too) that he covers for them, and why nobody has been able to replace that. Now, imagine how good that was 6-7 years ago when he was younger, running faster, etc. No wonder when coupled with 2 of the greatest shooters in league history, the Warriors were champions. And let's not forget, they were champs only 2 seasons ago.
That’s why us Warriors fans try to CONVINCE other fans how important he is, the casual fan sees a player who’s always mad at refs and even his own teammates at times but what REAL fans see is a player who is the IDENTITY to a GREAT Warriors DEFENSE when they’re all defending at a high level which will ALWAYS led to wins!
Sure the effort is good.. Russell Westbrook gives high effort on defense, it doesnt make him a good defensive player (dude still gets caught on backdoor plays like he enjoys backdoor play).. it's his defensive IQ that separates Draymond from the rest.. He's like a Ronnie Lott or Palomalau, just playing centerfield and reading what the offense is doing.. The greatest defender of his generation.. Think KG, but in a shorter package (damn near the same wingspan though).. It's not sexy and unless you're a basketball nerd, people dont see the true value of Draymond.. They just see 'triple singles'... The earmark of a casual fan
@@dre32pitt Had the extreme privilege to see Mo Cheeks when he got started (went to his first two games in Philly). Only 6-1, but a fierce, defensive point guard that actually guarded George Gervin as a rookie. He had some great games offensively from time-to-time, but he was so valuable to the Sixers 'cause of that defense. Was the coach on the floor with Doc, Moses, Toney, Bobby Jones...playing winning basketball doing the things that really help you win, not just score. Teammates know their value so well.
@@pmneely63 exactly.. I'd argue GPII is another one of those 'unsung' heroes.. with his tenacious defense.. defensive IQ.. and freakish ups (dude got some long ass arms as well, lol).. The littlest dude to effectively play the dunker spot ever, lol..
Pre injury Klay's defense combined with Draymond's defense was the heart of their dynasty. It isn't Klays offense they miss the most, it's Klay being one of the best two way stars in the league that they miss.
Wiggins is playing that role now on defense what pre injury Klay did, that’s why when a lot of people were calling for the front office to trade Wiggins I was MAD and I would’ve been PISSED if they actually listened to the fans and media, thank god they didn’t and kept Wiggins because he’s a top 5 defensive POA defender in the ENTIRE Nba!!!!! Wiggins defense is also what allows Draymond to make some of the crazy plays he does because he TRUSTS Wiggs to hold down the perimeter and somether them so he doesn’t have to worry about being the one to do it! And I know Klay isn’t the defender he was pre injury but he can stillhold his own against slower guys or guys with the same footspeed as him! Klay actually does a pretty good job on WING players rather guards because on average a Guard is quicker than Klay than a Wing player
Remembering back when the Warriors had Bogut and Draymond defending the paint and were absolutely stifling opposing offenses at the rim. An often overlooked part of the Cavs 3-1 comeback in the 2016 finals was the injury to Bogut opened up the paint for Kyrie and Lebron to attack.
Thank GOD someone other than me who loves the game and values great defense can see the legendary intelligence and special ability in Draymond's defensive posture. Draymond's presence is denying several easy baskets for 2 to 3 Lakers every other play. It is accumulative and can often make the difference between winning or losing the game.
What I love about this, is that to the untrained eye, it looks like Draymond isn't doing all that much. Someone who doesn't understand NBA defense might look at him and go "but he's just standing there". But position and awareness is EVERYTHING on defense, and Draymond is always in the right place, and aware of the right things.
As a laker fan, he id extremely valuable.. people disrespect dray like he is garbage or something. Dude os a HOF’er and one of best defenders of this era.
@@newlife6265it really upsets me too bc people see his stats and think that’s all there is to a players game, when draymond does almost everything offensively and defensively that can’t be recorded on a sheet
You have established yourself as a legit badass with this video. The fact that you confess that drop coverage hurts you, but also admit he can do it anyway is just priceless. Huge fan. Would you like to be a guest on my podcast sometime?
Their personality might be not the most likeable but damn i love the defensive skills of draymond and gobert. Elite defensive specialists are an almost extinct creature in the nba
whenever I hear a "fan" of basketball say that Draymond is overrated because of his triple singles I immediately know they don't know the first thing about basketball. On both sides of the court he teaches a master class nightly.
Draymond key is his positioning. He’s never more than a couple steps away from contention and knows who’s on the floor (aka who’s a threat and where). Master class on why he’s such an important part of the warriors still!
It's insane how much you can overlook previous indiscretions when someone shows pride and willingness in defence or a desire not to be rolled over, I'm on board
He's been an upstanding citizen off the court. Dude is a crazy person on the court sometimes, but never to the level of a Kermit Washington or Ron Artest.
@@HKim0072 to be totally honest mate I rarely pay attention to off the court, I'm just not massively interested but fully take your point and Yea, you're right, in comparison he's pretty tame, but in regards to the on court stuff, he's a clown show of late, I get it, I do, I understand his roll and effect, but I've no time for it it's not why I watch basketball, this breakdown of his recent performance though, that, all of that, I'm here for it, Competitive aggression is what's lacking so I'm all for that and respect his game
his ability to recognize what is a threat and what isn't a threat is so high level. he knows the personnel of the other team well and bets on their decision making every time, combining that with his athleticism to string together amazing defensive choices
Draymond has been so crucial to the GSW success hes been such a great player in his career Its a joy to see Draymonds Transition defense, he gets mad because he cares so much
Great video. Love the normal videos, but really like the positive videos. Good to have a balance of good and bad so we know what we are looking for when you discuss bad defense. If there are anymore guys that have good defense preferably Guard play like Jrue, post em!
This proves the hall of fame quality of Draymond Green. People think its all about flashy offense, but this is an amazing performance and impact a guy can have without needing to be a scoring powerhouse
It’s hilarious watching him have a breakdown watching people do this wrong but this is really good from a learning perspective to see how things should be done.
Positive comments….👍 good stuff. You are expanding your channel. Once NBA players hear about you they are going to start playing defense or be afraid of your wrath…😂
Draymond stops plays before they even happen. Hedging, bumping the cuter, full fronting. It’s crazy the hate he gets (including from warriors fans) pretty much sayid he’s useless and doesn’t do anything. The lack of basketball iq from most fans is ridiculous. Great video!!
@@newlife6265 Recent game (Minnesota @ LAL) : Minnesota had 39 3PA, 46 total rebounds (13 offensive) and 14 FTs. LAL had 31 3PA, 41 rebounds (10 offensive) and 32 FTs without LBJ playing. Cmon guys, stop this nonsense please! In a world of matchups that are good for LAL in terms of size (like Warriors lacking players to effectively match up with AD), Minnesota is the complete opposite and somehow, yet again, LAL gets ridiculous ref treatment.
A masterclass video? WOW now this is RARE. Threemond Green was on fire. If Draymond wasn't suspended in 2016, Warriors would of had that Championship in the bag EASILY.
Draymond defense is elite when he is at PF (even more than elite), he can do it really well at the C but now with TJD he can help from the weak side with more freedom cause TJD is protecting the rim.
Every Draymond Hater needs to see this video. His value to the team is all there, plus he's their enforcer....teams dont try those goofy ass antics with them like they try with other teams cause of Draymond
Almost every player in the league plays "two dimensional defense." Only Wemby and Dray take it to another dimension, Wemby for his size and athletic ability and Dray because of his Bball IQ and reaction time.
Also though, as a Warriors fan this vid is lowkey exposing how terrible the rest of our defense is, with everyone who is NOT Draymond getting beat by their man, missing communications, not sprinting back on D, and being slow to closeouts.
Can you analyse hartenstein on defense and why he affects his tram more than anyone else in terms of how much they concede. Why the defensive impact from a centre
There are two levels of nba defense 1. Masterclass, the reason why there is some hope for society 2. ABOMINABLE, the reason I threw away 5 YEARS OF MARRIAGE and left my wife HANDICAPPED
Early on in his career if Draymond would’ve developed a consistent jump shot he’d literally be a walking triple double every night and the best all around player in the league.
I hate draymond for all his antics but this breakdown just shows a whole other side of the game that even I have to appreciate him. I wish I had seen these videos back when I was playing. So much knowledge. And I was always a defensive player, would have been so useful
It also helps he's lefty on contests as most righties can't get the near side left hand up vs righty shooter . It's a righty world 88% of it anyway. You are almost sounding sane.
people will always meme on him because these things don't show up in a box score. Not everything done well has a stat, you new age fans really need to understand that.
I hate Draymonds personality but seriously, one of the best defenders ive ever watched. I would love to see a Herb Jones video from you, his defensive awareness and impact is right up your alley Title suggestion: HERB JONES' defensive MASTERCLASS has saved my LIFE
