I have lost count of the number of times I've referred back to this video, it is so useful, very clear and involves minimal swearing my end as I change the settings:-)
Thank you so much for that tutorial! You speak clearly and calm which was very helpful. I now understand the controls, how to set timings and how to change them in the future if I want to. I'll now be spending less money on my bills thanks to you! Thanks again :)
Thank you very much for this - you're a star! Got this unit from British Gas, didn't supply a manual, said it'd be on their website. It isn't and so thank you very much.
Great video - thanks! I'm just completely bewildered as to why there are 74 thumbs down? I mean, were they angry that you wasn't prepared to drive over and do it for them?! Very clear anyway. Cheers :)
Thank you so much for this, got totally confused by the instructions that came with the unit. Your video explained the system it uses very clearly. Some senseless person (not me) had programmed it to have heating on for five hours, same for hot water (who could possibly use that much hot water lol).., so will now be saving myself a lot of money I had been paying for gas. I have the Drayton Lifestyle Dual Channel LP722Si But it works the same way.
We've had this programmer for four years now and we still don't know how to use it...and we don't class ourselves as thick! Comes to something when you have to resort to RU-vid to take a bath! (:o((((
It's not the worst by a long way! But it's old technology, that's why it's so cumbersome. Having to separately time the heating periods for weekdays and weekends . . . just buy a new one, I did. So much better than Lifestyle.
Just fitted a Lifestyle branded version, and will wait to see if it switches automatically when clock changes. It's replacing a 15 year old Grasslin programmer- on that, there's a recess where you jam a pencil in to switch between summer & winter time. I wish these units had their fixing screws (to backplate) on topside; would make life so much easier when removing! Shame there's no option to programme all week with same programme.
Brilliant! I've misplaced my User Manual for this Timer! Then, when I had my Worcester Boiler serviced recently, my Engineer said that 'he'd adjusted the timing' - But since BST on 30th March,'14 my Drayton is an hour out of sync'! So although this is great help video - I've now learned about the Holiday & Boost settings! Meanwhile, I'll will have to go & change ALL of my own settings by an hour! C'est la vie . .!
If it's an hour in front of BST the quickest remedy if you don't want the hassle of reprogramming is to switch OFF the C/H system for one hour and then switch back on. When I say switch off I mean of course switch off from the mains plug socket supplying power to the system NOT the programmer,
I left the heating and water 'on' as I could not figure the timer out (the midday option past me by) until i found this video this morning due to mounting heating oil bills. All working perfectly now, thank you so much
Just got my set up. Had no clue what I was doing, starting to get frustrated.. wasnt expecting the vido to make me laugh as well.. as help me out.. "bst" (British summer time).. 🙏🙏
we have moved in to our new house a few years ago and we have this timer but when the heating comes on the hot water comes on to is there a problem with our timer or is this just the way our system works we have a large black header tank and 2 cylinders for stored hot water
The video is really helpful. Probably a naive question, can you set the temperature in these systems? For example if you want the room temperature to be 15 or 20 degrees?
GOOD straight forward explanation ... QUESTION ... How does it know the time and the correct time and date to change from BST to GMT and vice-versa ... is it radio linked ???
Is this the same for my LP241 panel? It looks the same panel, but when I go through functions you did it came up with Time/Programme/Day. Which made it a little bit confusing.
Thankyou, my LP522 unit seems to come on ok, timer etc ok. But when I switch the HTG off, the boiler seems to remain on for a bit? I suspect the *boost* mode may be the culprit and I will watch its functioning very carefully to test my hypothesis. I have set the b=0 just in case it is. This is a new system installed a few years back.👌
In our new house, we have one of those large hot water tanks and one of these programmers sitting underneath the boiler. Do I set the on time to be 7am and off time to be 11pm to ensure that we get hot water throughout the day? Or do I start it at 7am and turn it off at 9am and then back on again in the late afternoon/evening? I'm really confused... Please help...
Excellent video explains the controller very well. Minor point the controller he uses is a later version some of the earlier versions of this don't have quite the same functionality the one we've got seems to only have two programs however was still able to use the video to program the controller so good
soo i ve got one of these......i can use my hot water atm...i cnt use the heating despit the light coming on, the bolier doesnt do anything....any help ??
I just want my heating on for a few hours in the evening. Why do they come pre-set with morning, noon and night settings which you can't delete? I assume I'd have to set on and off to the same time for morning and noon to get around this? Or maybe only switch to timed after these first 2 programs?
Hello, I am trying to set my mums boiler for hot water and heating for the first time. I would like to set the water to come on for a couple of hours in the morning and evening. As it has 3 settings Do I ??? Set program one for 6.30am on to 8am off, program two 12 on then 12 off then program 3 4pm on 5pm off for example. And, how does heating work to cover from 6am to 10.30 pm for example. Do I?, Program one 6am on to 22.30 off?, Program two 12 on 12 off?, then Program three I am stuck do I do same as Program one or other?. Sorry, if I sound dim but not techy and would like to understand. Really appreciate your patience in advance.
Hi hoping you can help I have the above and it used to work fine set at the times required. I have a small radiator fitted in the downstairs toilet by a cowboy unfortunately. He drained my tank in the box room and even went up into the loft where there is another tank. I have no idea what he did but now the timer doesn't work neither does the water heat up even if switched on manually. I'm having to use the switch in the bedroom by the tank which I'm sure is for back up. I'm sure it's something minor but he's not answering my calls. When he was fitting the radiator he was facetiming someone for advice... please help.
Hi. I use my hot water and heating when I want them on by selecting the "Select" button untill it becomes "On". This has been going well for many years however now when I press hot water the heating comes on. Anyway to fix it to normal ?
Hi thank you very much for your demonstration. I didn't get it 100%. I would like to ask you what if I leave it the CH and CW, ON at all time what will happen ?
All very well to say the clock is set automatically, but what do you do if it doesn't change GMT to BST? I fiddled around with it and managed to find a clock setting by pressing the Select button (and making a few voodoo incantations). Somehow, I managed to change it to the correct time, but I still have no idea what the date setting is. What a dog's breakfast this controller is!
how many hours a day do i need to have the hot water thermostat on to enjoy a couple of hot showers and washing up my dishes? At the moment is set on 5hours a day which looks a bit excessive to me...
It probably is but don't forget your hot water cylinder has a thermostat and it won't allow the system to 'fire up' in those 5 hours if the temp in the cylinder is already satisfied.
Susana Artime I set my hot water to come on first thing in the morning for an hour and a quarter. This easily gives two showers and plenty of washing up water for the day. I personally don't need a pm setting for the hot water to come on again as the morning heating time is suffient for the whole day. So I programme the hot water PM timer to show on and show off at the same. ie both the on and off timer settings show the same time. Thats this appliance's equivelent to turning the PM timer off. In this video the guy demonstrates this method about half way through using 12pm as the demo time although his demo is for the central heating.
Iv been struggling with this for nearly 4 months now . We are getting central heating when we really need just hot water . Our house is a sauna 😮. In August the temperature is 29 degrees and im sooo frustrated. And iv been told im going to get 75% fuel bill increase on top .
Hello - I have a slightly different version of the LP522 (maybe an older version, with square buttons). The water in my house gets way too hot (uncomfortable, and probably capable of scalding you). so I either have cold water if I don't set it on the display, or water that can do you damage - is there any way of setting the water to only heat up to a certain temperature?
Hi there I've got quite a few settings on my panel but all I want is to clear them all or delete them all in order to not have any settings at all .I just want to turn on whenever I feel to use it without settings. What should i do?
Bizarrely, my Drayton LP522 doesn't have a Boost function or Holiday mode. Are there two variants on this model ? I see other RU-vid videos are also missing these options.
My settings for the central heating and hot water is different however when I turn the hot water on why does the central heating come on and the hot water doesn’t i am so baffled?
Let's say we are not lazy to program it to start at a certain time and just when we feel cold to press a button and heating will come for 1h only or wanting to have hot water to press a button for only 1h whenever we feel like it how do we do it ? thx
Hi there! At the moment I am unable to set central heating and hot water to function independently. I.e i can only get the central heating only to work as long as the hot water is on. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
This video is great. Anyone any idea how i can use the central heating programmer if i want to say maintain the house temperature using a thermostat at 20 degrees but dont want the heating on all the time
@@johnausten574 Hi john, your question predates a bit of an impasse. I understand you want a constant temperature which in itself would require the heating to be permantly on but yet u wish for it not be on constantly. I would suggest either as you itstated to set the thermostat to 20 degrees give or take two degrees and leave heating on which would allow the system to get up to this temp then switch off for an amount of time it felt it was looking this constant and turn back on(outside temp pending taking into account thermal loss) or I would set it to have the three programme time zones to cone on in four hour bursts say 7-11, 1:30-5:30 and 7-11 again with the therm again on 20 at least then as you initially requested it is not on all the time but the house is keeping to the 20 degree mark 80-90% is the day which I think may conserve power/money for yourself. I hope that may help!
Great video but I’m still confused. Can I not switch the hot water on whenever I please rather than having it timed… I am not used to this style of heating/water controls. Also when I turn the dial to the water “on” setting the central heating comes on but my water is still cold. I would be so grateful if someone can help me xx
Why does it say ‘SUN’ when i turn it to the ‘ON’ option? I’ve used this for many years but have never seen this happen and no i cannot get my heating on... please help!!!
How did you disable the amber LCD backlight on your one? On my one it's always constantly on. I'd much rather it just turn on when the boilers turned on rather than it be on 24/7.
I've just moved into a property with one of these control panels. When the central heating is selected within any mode, the hot water is automatically selected too. Is there a way to stop this and use it just solely for central heating without the hot water being selected?
