Hip hop-heavyweight Talib Kweli and Seattle’s breakout star, Draze, recently performed in front of a sold out crowd at The Value of Black Life Hip Hop Concert during The 2nd Annual Through The Eyes of Art Black History Month celebration, in Seattle, WA at the EMP Museum. The highly-successful night was attended by Seattle city representatives including, Mayor Ed Murray, Council member Bruce Harrell, civil rights activist Eddie Rye Jr., political analyst Angela Rye, and hip hop producer 9th Wonder among others.
Through the Eyes of Art, Seattle’s premier Black History Month celebration which fuses music and art, focused its theme this year on “The Value of Black Life,” with a special hip hop concert. In addition to the music, art by local artists was showcased throughout the night and featured insights from Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, City Council member Bruce Harrell and more. This year’s sponsors included: Veristone, EMP, Starbucks, STG Presents, Sticks and Stones Accessories, Urban League, 206 Up, 50 Next, Northwest Folklife, The Brand Kings, and Central District Forum.
