Dread Language Archive A segment of my series recording the Dread language from Destiny 2. (Thanks @TomiastheTired4053 for the thumbnail) (Music from Sessions: Star Guardian Taliyah: • Sessions: Star Guardia... ) Vos’kosh'i’ya’yin’gā !
The subjugators sound like they're bantering with you in combat. The tormentors sound like they hate you with every fiber of their being. They also remain me of Grineer
Yeah, I saw that one. I meant to say I wonder how their different their meanings are. As in are Tormenters edgy and Subjugators pretentious or vice versa
@@twelved4983 I noticed them since I listened to Bungie Dev and when I played the DLC for the first time I heard them much more often and looked for them in the video.
I don’t believe there’s too much to go off of for now until we get more Dread lore, but I will say, the words I’ve been paying most attention to are the words “kos” and “vos,” like when the Tormentor says “Kos’yen’eit’get.” (3:03) These may have variations, but they seem to appear in multiple different voice lines across all Dread units, leading me to believe these are either closer to words like “I” or “you,” or perhaps a common verb like “to be,” or “to do,” or something like that. Point is, given how we keep hearing those specific sounds from them, it’s no doubt a common idea being used there.
I do believe the ko is 'you' because it is repeated in several forms. Ko= you kok=your and so on, and perhaps we can build from there. E is the most used letter in the English language, so if we can work back from the most used consonant, it might start making more sense to fill in from there.
Honestly, Tormenters are probably the coolest enemies we’ve ever faced in Destiny. When I first encountered one I was legitimately like “what the heck is that”!
Tormentors are the first boss enemy since the hunters in halo that kake me both terrified but also excited to fight. Their weakspots are satisfying to break and the noises they make are so cool.
For some reason when the Tormentor says "Kik'thid'va'na'tsi'vo" I'm reminded of every time you hear a fallen captain or vandal say "Herr slor isir thid." Undoubtedly a coincidence but kinda funny that the phrase "thid" comes up in two unrelated faction's voice lines.
To be fair, who’s gonna take it from them? I sure as shit won’t beef with a guy shaped like a Costco Refrigerator who can jump like 15 feet in the air and launch himself at me at mach 1!
There’s a channel that archived every possible voiceline in a video called tormentor sfx and another called dread sfx they have the remainer of any missing lines, just without dictation
It must be so fun to voice these guys. Making your voice sound all intimidating while shouting war cries in a language made specifically for the game. I know I would find it fun, as I find myself randomly screaming dragon shouts in Dovahzul on occasion after I started playing Skyrim. Lol
The reason no one has decrypted anything they’re saying yet is because we don’t have a Rosetta Stone yet. We don’t know how to actually spell the language, nor the context of which they’re speaking. Thus, without a proper understanding or translation of something else into the Dread language, we can only guess based off of word frequencies, which is already difficult by itself.
For some, reason the tormentors sound like they’re speaking to themselves, while the subjugators are like speaking to you. It’s hard to quantify, but the tormentors sound much less actually engaged in the speaking, and more so in the combat itself. Tormentors sound much more aggressive and wrathful, while subjugators seem like they are actually trying to engage in conversation. Must just be a difference in their original species, with tormentors probably being some cabal or Qugu origin. And subjugators being derived from the much more formal and well spoken Lubraens.
Thinking about the Dread, i would find it interesting if Bungie made a Arc Tormentor and a Solar Tormentor, both with different abilities. Like the Subjugators, but with the Light. That's a thought i had in my mind ever since The Final Shape released. Like, imagine an Arc Tormentor blinding you or a Solar Tormentor scorching you. Just a thought
@@soundwave4236 where is this stated? Even if so the light may have gave them there shape the witness created them with mostly darkness with 2 being tormentors and subjugators being direct copies of 2 of his most loyal disciples
I'm not sure if I missed the line, but I think a line went along the lines of "Ra' Kul' Va' Kine'!", but I do not remember the action that prompts the line. Might just be an idle line, but it seemingly wasn't here. There are other videos that are direct rips of the Tormentor dialogue from Lightfall specifcally, so that might help in gettting more
I feel there might be some missing lines here, Tormentors have (or had, it really seems like they got revoiced in Final Shape) one specific line that is BURNT into my memory because of how much ive heard it and how much ive joked about it with friends, it sounds something similar to "Chakum Chakai!"
Listening to the voice lines without music actually makes the tormenters more intimidating to me. Up until now they felt more annoying when I fought them in game. Sound, music, voice acting - this video just shows that all of those things make a real difference.
You were mentioned in one of a popular destiny lore yts videos "my name is byf" when he was talking about the dread language. Also, you are one of the few people with few but good content
Next we should get a task for e together to look for the tablet mentioned in euphony lore Infact let’s get a discord going cause I don’t see anyone else giving this in game puzzle a good try
Generally speaking. I fear nothing in this game. But this thing it scares me. Especially when it suppresses you out of your abilities or even worse super. But the worst part : screen turns red "Panik!"
So, 'Ga li Jek' is assumed to mean Guardian. And 'Te 'o is either two or one word. But, my guess is a type of callout like: - Spotted - Present - Ahead - Sighted? I'll see if it's used anywhere else. Note: 'O is used at the end if the words frequently. Maybe it means ED or ING?
All the big unit dread can talk just in an alien language. Most likely in frontiers saga we will see dread become more complex and have their own ambitions and begin to communicate with guardians.
God I hate tormenters with a passion when they arrive on screen with what ever activity I'm doing I have to despatch them immediately all other enemies are secondary
Why are tormentors the only ones that can wield that scythe? I want to drain red bars health for super energy. I should be able to suppress enemies every 2 seconds 😂
Would like to know how this translates to English. (I remember the devs saying in a trailer the dread have their own language but I’m not sure if anyone has figured it out or not. Or If I’m just flat out wrong.)
