Kinda hope to see that with NBA Youngboy, like if he can just clean his act up just a little bit and beat these cases, he could really leave a mark on the industry. Not to say he already hasn't, hes got people questioning the industry
@@CrittingOut I dont even know man, he's been shooting at people, possible murder cases, definitely attempted murder, just ignorant stuff. Somehow his lawyers got him to be out on bond but they moved him to Utah to be away from his gang.
@@CrittingOut Ye thats true, but then you gotta keep that same energy with every menace rapper, aka all of them. Like even Drake was doing crazy stuff but it was white collar. I just hate how the industry looks down on him but they're just as bad, they just don't get caught.
Ive always said that. And if u listen to HIS beats. That HE produced. It makes even more sense. Im like a producer nerd. Like i knew about Metro and Southside and Lex Luger back in like 2009-10. And Keef is one of my fav producers. His beats are crazy
@@shawn1819u heard bftd2 and 3? Those are some of his best self produced tapes. Two Zero One Seven and Thot Breaker (2017 version) are also great as well

Being a sosa fan from almost the beginning back in 2012.. it’s great to see how his career turned out. Went from mainstream to slept on for years.. now bro getting his flowers before he passes away or something crazy happens. Much deserved, big goattt 🐐
Growing up in Chicago mannnn 2011-2012 was popping with his mixtape back from the dead! “I can’t lose B***h I’m so used to to WINNIN BANG BANG” I miss them High School days…
@@MajorLH15 Hits?? Dude had 2 songs with any decent radio play. Dudes been a fake ass clown since he came up with his little dance. He even bought shi**y Chinese game systems and tried to sell them over here because he needed money.
I been hearin' "Throw me a follow if you didn't know this" for a while now. Bit every time you get a like. Until this time. New follow. Cool piece of history. Thanks for enlightening.
You don't get fetty without a Sosa. Before chief keef all singles had well produced and televised videos. Fetty is a direct result of the "low budget cellphone video" era
Y’all forgetting Gucci mane and Young Jeezy. The pioneers of trap. That’s when all this really started. That’s when the sound changed, and everyone adopted the sound.
Back from the Dead 2 is one of the best mixtapes of all time. Too bad he couldn't keep the streak alive because I'm not a fan of most past his initial breakout period.
Keef really is underrated in how strong his influence is even a decade later. It's not even just in the US. Imo the UK scene and Australian scene both owe something to Chicago drill for making that loud, abrasive, violent music more popular and mainstream. And in the US you could probably look at the last 10 XXL freshmen lists and find multiple artists who have been influenced in some way by Sosa or the scene he was at the forefront of. Honestly it's a shame he didn't stick around more but he left us with Don't Like and Love Sosa at least. Plus that remix of Don't Like with Kanye, Pusha, Big Sean and Jada was fire
Chief moved into my home town and realized that the burbs of Chicago have a dark side. Those rich Democrats sure LOVE calling the police on a rich Black man.
Sosa definitely blew up the mainstream part but the underground always been there Detroit the proof. Our shit been hitting since the the 90s and it still do the mainstream rappers finally starting to pay homage!!
Rappers weren’t cool in the early 2000s all had bald heads they didn’t give a anime type cool look but the hen Chief keef came out with his dreads giving out hella anime vibes. Thank god Chief keef came out man
I remember this era I was in middle school and it had everyone dressing like keef. I live 45 from Chicago so yk how hard it impacted us. We went from fighting and acting hard in middle school to bodies dropping after high school that how fast that whole drill movement took over. Ik at least 5 ppl dead on both sides it’s wild
@@mr.longjohn0014 Long John. Take your time to read the comment all the way through. Then reply. That’s a conversation. My point was. They don’t play Cheif Keef hardly on 107.5WGCI. That’s our local HIP HOP station. And he is supposed to be a legend? We don’t show him much love here.
@@mr.longjohn0014 Dam. I will leave your Boo alone. Quit talking like you know Chicago from Ohio or wherever your parents live. Now go mow the lawn junior.
This was made for people who don't follow rap. Gucci was still around and young Jeezy. Hardcore rapping never stopped only the casuals would even think something like that.
im sure frank talked abt gucci, and thats the thing, jeezy and sosa have the same kinda reason for their true rise in popularity, which is Kanye. Put On and Dont.Like.1 put these two on the map. Gucci is a hero and so is Jeezy, but Sosa pioneered a subgenre of hip-hop. Jeezy and Gucci were part of the southern rap genre, with the slurred and chopped/ slopped songs. Sosa started his own shit, we never said he put hardcore rap back on the map.
@Orsino is he a better rapper than keef? Yes. But did kendrick change the whole sound of hiphop and create a bunch of wana bes? No but keef did. Everyone wanted to be keef when he was at the height of his career
Chief Keef messed up his career after he started making music with big-name producers instead of just riding with Young Chop from start to finish... His biggest songs with on Chop beats (Don't Like, Love Sosa, Colors & more)
Not only did I not know this, I don't even know who this kid is. That's sad. He made such a huge impact on our industry but no one in it has heard of him.
@@demonetizethis5608 I am about to tell you some heartbreaking news but dreadhead mare is rapping a mix of trap music and drill music and soundcloud rap
Keith Farrelle Cozart (born August 15, 1995), better known by his stage name Chief Keef, is an American rapper. His music first became popular during his teen years in the early 2010s among high school students from Chicago's South Side. In 2012, his popular local single "I Don't Like" was remixed by American rapper Kanye West and reached the Billboard Rap Top 20, further raising Cozart's profile. A bidding war between major labels resulted in Keef signing with Interscope. His debut album Finally Rich was released in December 2012, and featured the singles "I Don't Like" and "Love Sosa", which would popularize the Chicago rap subgenre drill.
