1938. An instant classic that has been covered endlessly. In my youth, I dismissed it as 'old people's music.' It had surfaced again in the 60's, sung brilliantly by Ella Fitzgerald. My young soul ached for music more rebellious, edgier. Rock blossomed; I got my wish. I never looked back. Fast forward to 2019. Now it's my turn to be old. The people who made crooners popular are long in their graves; but I remember those people. I remember their love for the music. Could be I'm even seeing merit in those old songs, an echo of the enthusiasm that older generations felt for them. So you walk up to the mic dressed as a lounge singer from Las Vegas' long-ago heyday and give us the softest, most heart-wrenching rendition of the song I've ever heard. It works exceedingly well, and the videography was inspired, too. I'm glad to be a subscriber. You never disappoint, Anne.

Few things make me smile at 73. Your videos do. You sing each song never knowing that your music takes me back to a better time and place. One song takes me back to my prom. Another back to Vietnam and another back to my first dance with my wife of 49 years. Thank you for taking me back to my youth. Please stick around. Reading your post helped me once again recall the hell I’ve been through the last 3 years and reminding me that with time real healing can occur. I promise you it can. I’ve been in your shoes so please don’t stop trying, don’t force it and don’t pretend. You won’t fool anyone, not even yourself. Make it happen and make it real for yourself. You’ll know when you get there. If I can offer you one tip to help you heal, one that I didn’t ever want to do but after much thought, meditation and contemplation I managed to do - was forgive those who had harmed me and negatively impacted me the most. It was not easy and I still often need to remind myself not to lose my place with that. Here’s why it mattered so much and had such a beneficial impact in my healing: because by offering forgiveness to others I was shocked to discover I began to also forgive myself for decisions I had made that led me to places I didn’t belong and never deserved to be in. It caught me completely off guard but it was exactly what I needed. I started to remember who I was before others tried to break me and destroy me, my reputation and my life. That was the guy who was happy once and while I’m still a work in progress I’m staying on this path and I will prevail. I have prevailed. You will too. Sending good karma from this fellow traveler. 😊

It can be hard to find at times, but hold on to those nuggets when you do find them. Keep them close to your heart and don't let them go. Anne this video was superbly done. Your dress, the microphone and even the way you moved are period accurate to the 1930s and 40's. You spend a lot of time and effort getting each song that you do as accurate as possible to its time period, and it shows.

Any one of the five or six would make me happier than I could imagine. I love singing and playing guitar, and Anne has inspired me to take all my old band songs, which were rushed out for gigging minus a lot of the complications and enrichments, like vocal harmonies, and render them as they were in my mind, and upload them to RU-vid. I may interleave them with recordings of the as-gigged versions.

I could NEVER understand what Mama Cass was singing at the end of the song - you finally solved the mystery for me after all these years. The word "far" is added to make it "far behind". Awesome.

Hearing your immense cover on The Boys prompted me to learn this song on guitar. Such cool, jazzy chord combos and very interesting, much better than the inane pop stuff around these days that all uses boring major chords.
