Reigate based guitarist Shane Hill and Hampshire based vocalist Jodie Elms were joined by vocalist / pianist and violinist Mike Hatchard for a wonderful evening of American songbook and more at the Graffham Festival 2024.
Shane has performed at Ronnie Scott’s, 606 Club and many music festivals. He has accompanied the legendary bass/baritone singer Sir Willard White and also appeared with the late opera star Maria Ewing. Session work has included playing on recordings by Lionel Ritchie, Janet Jackson and many others for major record labels. He lectures on music courses and teaches guitar.
Classically trained, with 25 years working professionally as a singer and recording artist, Jodie is the consummate professional.
Career highlights include; a number 1 hit song in Italy, performing at the MTV Music Awards in Milan, singing to 100,000 for ‘Live 8!’, Paris. Work with jazz star Jacqui Dankworth, recording with Mike Batt (Katie Melua) and Elliot Kennedy (Shirley Bassy, Shania Twain), releases with French music mogul Marc Cerrone. Concerts of note include; classical spectacular ‘Carmina Burana’, The Royal Albert Hall, solo voice at the Eisteddfod Voice Competition, Wales, The Palace of Versailles and Olympia Hall in Paris, WANDA Group on behalf of Sunseeker Yachts in China, and featuring as the soprano voice with Classical improvisational group ‘Coryphaeus’.
Versatile Mike has performed on Radio 3, gone on tour cycling while towing his piano and can sing upside down as well as play violin and piano (but not at the same time - yet!) These amazing feats were part of fund-raising for BBC Children in Need. He has worked extensively as a musical director/ accompanist, including on tour, for the late legend Matt Monro. He has also accompanied the celebrated vocalist Dame Cleo Laine and more recently the multi award-winning singer Liane Carroll.
