Don't shoot me for asking this. It's something that doesn't make sense to me. why do people use a hacksaw to cut the steerer tube when they are metal? pipe cutters are more efficient and gives a cleaner cut.
@@summitbicycles Everything from the hose down is perfectly fine, no doubt, had MT5s. For me, the master cylinder is the total deal-breaker. I know they have some fancy words for their fibre reinforced polymer, but it still feels, looks and acts like cheap plastic. The MC breaks so easily in a crash, the thread for the compression nut (the thing that holds the hose in place) is very easily mis-threaded and the reservoir explodes if you want to push the pistons back for a clean pad swap (happened to me twice!). I since run Saint levers on the MT5 callipers, with Magura hose and Shimano mineral oil. This is a killer combo, I bet riders who love big modulation but also need immense power love them. I love the power (I'm also quite heavy) but fancy the on-off feel of full Saints. To each their own I guess, but I stand for my point that a plastic master cylinder is wrong on a >400$ brake set. Very nice video non the less though! Cheers
@@summitbicycles I've never ridden MT7s to be honest, but seen and felt them in the show room. As far as I can tell they only differ in their adjustability, namely their BAT (bite point adjuster). Unfortunately still plastic. Again, not mocking on the brake power of modulation, just the build quality/choice of material.
