Once again we could watch the mechanic Gauthier Verdonck from the World Tour Team Trek Segafredo building the brand new 2023 Trek Domane (It was actually not a bike for a specific rider, it was build for a Team Sponsor). Who has paid close attention could see that Team Trek Segafredo uses the model already since the spring classics. On September 8, 2022, the Domane was now officially presented to the public. The frame is a complete new development, it is lighter, stiffer and more aerodynamic. All cables run completely inside the frame and only come out at the headset. All the details of the new frame and the equipment as it is used by Team Trek Segafredo in the video. Have fun watching.

It never size to surprise me how heavy this new, "top of the line" , expensive models really are. My 6-7 year old Colnago C-59 frame is about 990 grams, my fork is also about 100 grams lighter than this. Is it really progress?
@LordFata
@LordFata 2 года назад
I assume fork weight to be higher as well due to the load on the flat mount during breaking with discs. Other than that, disc brakes are known to increase wheel weight (torque taken by the spokes), and the Domane has Isospeed

weight doesn't matter -- it's been proven time and time again. It only matters in hill-climb events where you're ascending a slope (and not descending). It's been shown countless times that if you're rolling on flat ground, or mixed terrain, weight just isn't that important a factor.

What's wrong with the BB? As for the discs at this stage can we all just accept that's your opinion. Personally think discs are far superior I probably won't go back to rim brakes ever... Just my opinion though
@bobqzzi
@bobqzzi 2 года назад
@@markmuldoon7044 Watch him spin the cranks- there is some extra friction there Disc brakes stop the bike a bit better, no doubt about that- but really, that's the least important part of bike performance. They're heavier, less aerodynamic, make the fork heavier, are much more difficult to install and adjust, take a ton more maintenance , and probably most important- are expensive and add to the cost of new bikes. They are certainly worth it on a wet weather commuter, touring, mountain, or gravel bike, but on a road bike they are a tribute to fashion. BTW- I did want to say that the mechanic seemed very skilled.
@sjurk81

@@bobqzzi We're in agreement on the disc brake thing. I built three SRAM bikes in 2022. A "Red" group with their rim brakes on a Felt frame with mediocre brake performance; then a "Force" groupset on a Focus Izalco & used Campy Record rim brakes with amazing brake performance (smooth & no chatter); then a Scott frame (super light) with a complete "Force" hydraulic brakes groupset. After bleeding & bedding-in the pads & rotors full accordance with SRAM tech data, they still chatter on any steep, fast downhill. That bike came at 2.5 pounds (18.5) heavier than even my heaviest full Campy Record equipped rim-brake bike. The Scott bike looks amazing with all the most modern of components, but with it's weight, feels like I'm riding a pickup truck.

No offence but must my bike shop built my 15k bike this way i would kill him and go somewhere else. On a 75inch screen you see all the scratches he has developed 🙈 But I understand that this is pro level and things are going different. But we can say that we saw other videos (Cervelo build ups from Jumbo for example) that where more gently. Or was that pure for video purpose they did it more gently?
@roadbikechannel
@roadbikechannel Год назад
not really, thats pretty much their daily business we're documenting with the pro bike bike build. The thing is, nobody is gonna notice any tiny scratches on the bikes anyway and at the beginning you saw all the boxes with new frames lying around which they have to build as well. Once it's used on world tour level that's not the precious toy of a normal rider anymore but just a tool to get the results for the riders.

If that was my bike, I would have been livid seeing this, even given the randomly lucky result.

I’m enjoying the bike so far ru-vid.comUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
