It's not every day you come across a fully functional super light weight road bike at well under the 6KG weight range. So in this complete road bike dream build we have a Factor 02 VAM frame set with SRAM Red 22 mechanical, Caden 38mm carbon tubular wheels, Black Inc bars, and Assioma power pedals. According to UCI standards, the weight limit of a race bike in the pro peloton is 6.8KGs. So this dream build has smashed that target to pieces.

@@matthewlewis2072 I think it’s on tubs. Nice bike though. I’d say SRAM red mechanical will make any bike lightweight. Especially with a tiny cassette.

SWEET BIKE! Recently built a 2017 supersix rim brake with Sram Red 22 Mechanical and Caden wheels and some Darimo parts. 5.25kg! I love how light 2012-2017 rim brake bikes are and how good they ride. I'm sure you'll love riding this. Looking forward to your review.

Those SRAM direct mount brakes are spongy af compared to Dura Ace. You could drop 200+ grams with Cane Creek eebrakes while adding some flash and getting comparable performance. Also check out Supacaz’s bidon cages 🤙🏻

Lovely bike and congrats on going rim brake. Cameras front and / or rear will bring you up to weight limit if that is allowed in UCI rules.

Nice one! Just get tubulars with appropriately long valves (plus get rid of the caps) and you will get it under 6.

Such a nice build. I have a Sram force 22 gxp group on a 2009 cannondale synapse. Been looking for a good frame to transfer it over to. Not sure I can afford a new factor frame but I might wait and save up for one now

I actually learnt something new ! (the stretching of the tires before mounting it). I have built several bikes myself and that pint in the midst of a build, its a VB moment. Looking forward to the review, as I am still on the Allez, so any cross comparisons would be appreciated Cam.

Also, you never explained why you went for an 11 speed red mechanical when the durrace mechanical is lighter. Guess for the type of riding you do, you don't need the 12 speed. Awesome build, though, Cam. It looks absolutely delish.

To get that bike uci legal you will need disc brakes and electronic groupset. That is the 790 grams that is missing. Beautiful build🤤

Love it Cam, currently waiting for some deCADENce 25mm clinchers to finish off my Ridley Helium SLX which should weigh around the same mark. Love an aero bike BUT you can’t beat the feeling of a super lightweight bike.

Pre-stretching tubs like that is not recommended by any manufacturer. You might damage the sews or the base tape. I got some old alloy tubular rims from the 70s that I got for next to nothing. I leave my tubs on there inflated to max pressure for a day or two and they go on super smooth after.

Tubular! Wow. Love that you focused on weight with this one. One question, it looks like you fitted single pivot breaks. Do you notice any difference with dual pivot?
