After looking through Joseph's stuff, it seems confirmed that Joseph had multiple affairs w/ Robert. If you date Robert 2 times and Joseph 2 times, then take Joseph for the 3rd date, Robert confronts you before you get on the yacht about how Joseph isn't who you think he is and that he's a backstabber. He then calls you awful for trying to get with a married man, and when you ask Joseph about it on the yacht, he admits he slept with him once while married - but the picture shows that Robert is "actually smiling" and wearing a "familiar" sweater - the sweater, maybe that Joseph is wearing? Makes sense why Mary and Robert hang out at the bar together; they both feel jilted by Joseph! idk, I thought Joseph was a sweetheart, and v confused for being closeted, but isn't this a little shady?

welp a lot of religious people dont follow their religion sometimes, and there are even gay Christians people and even in different religions, so it might stay true to his beliefs but, Idk, sometimes storylines are fcked up Well, every single people in this game is at least bi curious, openly gay, or maybe sexualy fluid. Maybe Joseph sticks to one of these boxes, or is just a "straight" guy who felt alone because his wife doesnt want him anymore and found a "real" gay guy like Robert and few affairs with him ( by "real",I meant to assume his sexual orientation ) and he just found out that deep inside of him, he is a gay dad. And there is no problem being a gay religious Christian dad. And I think there is also a little bit of Robert being the bad boy kinda guy, with a leather jacket, doing drugs, fcking new people in town and Joseph being the good respectable religious kinda guy, and I think like opposites attract each others, so maybe there is one of the reason Joseph had some sexual affairs with Robert. So I think that's it, for my personnal point of view, im sorry of you guys cant understand what I wrote lol Im not english or anything lol

Well we learn from Joseph's backstory that he wasn't always religious, since he used to be much more of a vagabond, but decided to "clean up" his act or whatever. Honestly, if Robert hadn't shown up to make accusations, I would have thought Joseph's was just a sad story about a failing marriage - but since Robert, who after 2 dates seems to really care about you and be serious (confessing his fears, etc) is saying that you should stay away from him and that he's not what he seems, it makes me wonder if Joseph is a serial adulterer who pretends that he might divorce for you, but then won't. I'm not sure what to make of it, but Robert suggests he's a manipulator. He might be Joseph's ex, but he's also warning you bc he cares about you. This is all conjecture, but since you never actually end up w/ Joseph even in the "good" ending, I think the developers might be suggesting that there is no way to be the one to "fix" or change the closeted married man.

There are plenty of theories. 1/ We know that Robet and Mary stay toghter at bars etc, the reason why is because Joseph "cheated" on both of them : Joseph cheated on Mary with Robert, and then, he stopped dating him for unknown reasons. Robert and Mary created this group between them maybe to support each other and trying to forgive what happended with Joseph with drinks. And that might be the reason why Robert was so upset towards Joseph because he was about to re-do this schema with us and Robert tried to protect us. 2/ Maybe as you said SpiritusMundi, he is a serial adulterer and he is just cheating on Mary and he had an or many affairs with Robert and he seems jalous about it; like we know that Robert used to create fake stories when you date him, maybe all the things he told us was just a lie for us to not create a relationship with Joseph. And there is more or more theories that he can think about ( and also because Im lazy writing in english tho ), but the main "problem" is the bad ending, we just need to wait for the good one when Joseph stays with us and being our partner. But you also know what ? I dont really give a fck about all of this because Joseph IS MA MAN GUURRRL I LOVE HIM SO FKCING MUCH PLEASE DADDY >//////> ok sry.

@@hamluk_ Yeah. It makes you wonder how many people he's done that with, though. It really can't just be Robert, since he played Dadsona the exact same way. He acts like his marriage is failing and going to end in divorce anyways, gets a couple of lays in from (presumably) men, gets them attached, and then tells them he's going to fix his marriage which clearly never will be fixed.

This ending (i know it's not the true one) is pure shit cause like, he really wants to pull that? After he already cheated on his wife? He really doesn't deserve to do that. To Mary and the MC. It just ends up feeling like he used the MC. And going for his wife as the excuse without even mentioning his children is just so . . . fucked. It's not like I expected any different from Jack Morrison though lmao.

I never mentioned gender roles. It's obvious from their story that he's using her depression and stress from his cheating to place all the blame on her (causing more stress on Mary) instead of actually trying to fix their relationship. We know from going on two dates with Robert and then going on a third date with Joseph that Robert was a victim of the same bs Joseph would later pull on the MC. He used her to get closer to the MC by blowing their already dysfunctional relationship out of proportion. When you actually get to know Mary from Damien and Robert's routes (where she's friends with them) it's like you're getting to know an entirely different person. Without Joseph presence, you get to know the real Mary, a stressed out alcoholic mother that's had her life wasted in a shitty marriage with a manipulative bastard. If you consider harmless flirting cheating though, I guess I should add that to the list.

Don't worry about not getting the good ending. Everybody has the same bug right now, so NOBODY can get Joseph's good ending. The devs are trying to fix it currently. All we know about the good ending is from datamining, I think.

We gonna talk about the fact that the eldest of josephs kids always looks sad/upset is probably because he hears mary and joaeph fight and might know the reason why theyre fighting which might be the reason why hes a little quiet talking to the MC? Edit: so that makes the whole "we did got back together for the kids" thing is BS too because if they actually cared for them they wouldve stayed apart in order to keep them away from them fighting. Also the fact that Joseph and the MC didnt actually "get together" until AFTER Joseph reveals that him and mary were separating and that he had been living on the boat for at least a little while and then once they get back to shore and the party happens (which i assume happens maybe like a day or two later?) Suddenly it "all of our problems are fixed and im getting back with mary btw lol" makes it feel like he was just using and treating the mc like there to help himself feel better.

Get Schwifty I disagree with the "Joseph was in a vulnerable state Robert was the one who took advantage" part. I love Joseph, he's one of my favorites but honestly he's two faced and manipulative. He really only cares about his own desires. Both Joseph and Robert are in vulnerable states, Joseph is in an unhappy marriage and Robert is struggling to make himself a better person. The dadsona is in a very similar situation that Robert was once in, that's why Robert warns you before going on Joseph's yacht. In seclusion Joseph can say whatever he wants to you to get you closer to what he wants and then he simply rebounds once you’re back on land. He leaves you high and dry, wondering what went wrong. this is what is so regretful to Robert. Edit: Sorry for the essay, hopefully this makes since considering its three in the morning and I haven't slept in two days.

The actual good ending is bugged for everyone. In order to get it you have to walk Mary home and she's has to be happy. No matter what you say to Mary, no matter what combination she gets upset and leaves.

dude give him some empathy, he's a married, closeted and christian which is pretty scary tbh. i feel that his ending is a bit bittersweet and lean more to the realistic aspect that sometimes things dont work out. if you think divorce is easy think again, not many countries/places support it. I dont say ppl should cheat but i do feel empathetic towards the guy. my parents were arranged, they live on different floor, never talk to each other and only stay because they feel responsible. my mom has temper issue and she can be abusive sometimes just because of the stress from works so dad is staying to support her. i dont blame them, its the crippled society that shapes ppl that way. what a life maybe you have a perfect life and you can't relate, but im sorry that i feel sad for him and you dont "Life isn't simple and neither are we. We are all racked with insecurities, demons and regrets. We like to watch people with emotions and hardships like ours. We expect the characters that we've invested so much time in to have the same complex emotions as ourselves. A housewife who is always chipper and happy isn't realistic; we can't relate to her."
