A huge thank you goes out to the greatest flight crew that one could possibly ever ask for! Capt. Proctor & F/O Brant are consummate professionals, and made my entire United Airlines flight experience much better as a result. Congratulations to Mr. Brant for upgrading to Captain on the A320 family, this was his last flight in the 787, and probably the right seat, for that matter.

Let's see. First passenger, not only got to talk to flight crew but had them demonstrate stuff about plane, flight out of LAX since it was raining was to the east, had the first officer use one of your cams, fly in a brand new airplane in a very cool seat, get great shots of ground in-flight, bad sun bad sun, talk to flight crew again on the ground and get them to pose at the nose gear on the ground. Yea, just your normal every day flight from LAX to New Jersey that everyone experiences. This one goes into the favorites file.

I’ve flown on the Dreamliner twice, both United Airlines. I am an employee of United and decided it was finally time for me to get on a Dreamliner, so I flew the 787-9 from SFO to IAH and back and the 787-10 from SFO to EWR and flew a 777-200 back to SFO, which also happened to be my first time on a 777.

The 787 is such a versatile plane. Despite it usually optimised for long haul, it also does well for those higher demand shorter haul flights where at times, there are too many people for a simple 737 or A320. Usually in the form of a transcontinental flight when flying domestic.

I live in Southern California and when the Santa Ana winds kick up, planes take off inland at the airports instead out over the ocean; done to get lift I would imagine.

A few years ago, on a flight from SFO to LAX, in between storms, we landed at LAX coming from the ocean. Yeah, that was rare and SUPER COOL! I knew something was a little odd when we didnt head inland to fly over the city's massive sprawl and make that turn just east of DTLA to get into the landing pattern. Of course, looking out the window, it was obvious which way we were coming in. I could hardly contain myself among the calmness of my fellow passengers. I was gawking out the window the entire time. It was the COOLEST and most UNUSUAL approach!

Listening to the First Officer describe the software in the cockpit I can hear a sound that only avgeeks can hear. It's like a kHz whistle that only dogs can hear: total and complete immersion in commercial aviation. Now I know what *I* sound like when I start talking about airliners to 'civilians'!

I'm flying United this Summer to Tokyo-BKK.... I tried the 787-8 business class last year, and I'm totally hooked.... It takes a year of saving, but the flight is more than worth the price.. ANA does the Tokyo-BKK leg on a 787-9, so jet lag is not an issue.......

I love seeing Pilots who 'get it'. There's no ego, no desire to have it about them, it's all about how cool the tech is and how much fun aviation is. The F.O. seems like a really decent guy, and would probably have kept Ryan there all day talking if he didn't have a job to do :)

That's exactly it, this flight crew went out of their way to make sure my journey went well. As they boarded, they told me it was alright to visit the cockpit before departure AND after arrival. Most pilots will grant you a visit, but inviting me to come back, simply amazing! The F/O is now an A320-family captain, this was his last flight on the 787. They even made a comment, 'we wish we could just let you jump seat up here with us, but the FAA wouldn't like that too much', or something to that effect. These dudes were amazing!

Nice vid. Found it interesting that full slats for front of wing except for one small part right by engine pylon where a small krueger flap extends from bottom of wing. :)

LAX to EWR/JFK is primarily run by wide bodies with a couple 757s thrown in by the big three. Also Delta has its daily ATL-LAX flown by a 777!

Delta has some based out of JFK, United has some based out of EWR. And on the west end they are to and from LAX and SFO. I don’t think BOS has any to the west coast currently but most airlines also run planes with lie flat seating there.

AA also has a number of widebody flights to and from MIA, and United has some between IAH and either IAD or EWR, as well as DEN and LAX/SFO or ORD.

The plan with the -10 is a high capacity U.S. East Coast to Europe aircraft. It doesn't have the range of the -8 or -9, but the capacity is key on some routes.

Dunno...if I'm flying only four hours, I'll take the cheap seat. Use the money I save to buy myself something nice. If I'm doing a long flight, I'll upgrade. I can do four hours wedged between two smelly fat people but not any longer than that.

It was 5 hours out & 6 coming home. Normally, upgrading is not something that I'm all about...but the entire point of this trip was to experience their new Polaris layout, and to document it for the channel. A seat in the back doesn't get a chance to see the Polaris Business layout, the food, etc.

I flew in seat 50A on N13013 in October 2022. Definitely was among the most squeezed in I’ve ever been. Otherwise it was a good hard product. Crew could have been better.

QueenE Jj - There’s nothing in the actual bill about aviation at all. Don’t get me wrong, 10 years to do everything they said would be impossible. There’s some good in it and some bad, but there’s nothing about air travel in the actual resolution.

As great and wonderfully utopian the green new deal sounds like, it’s simply not possible in the time frame she wants. It’s all rainbows and lollipops. QueenE Jj - Don’t get me wrong, I’m not on either side. I think democrats and republicans are both are pretty shitty in their own separate ways. I guess what I don’t get is why are people giving so much attention to this rookie congresswoman so much attention. Is the green new deal completely unattainable? In ten years then yes of course not, but there have been many, many members of Congress that have proposed worse things than that.
