Nicely presented. Liked the, "As long as you don't hit the wrong note you're OK!" I've been trying that approach my whole life!! LOL!!

DADGAD, DACGAE, DADEAE, CGCGGE (5th B string a step up from the normal G string), DADGBE (2 steps down on the D string)! It's really tough to explain a few of them, but these tunings have helped me with some sick ideas for songwriting! 😉

Love this! Sounds like a Joni Mitchell tuning. I play in A, E, B, E, F#, B, which is similar to this tuning but if you tune the 4th string C to D (and then obviously it's lower). I use a capo a lot for these open tunings, I rarely play in standard anymore 😂

Keola Beamer plays a lovely tune, (E Ku'u "Morning Dew" in that (Old Mauna Loa or NI'ihau tuning)

Dammit, just spent 45 minutes trying to learn your tune "This Just In" in DADGAD. It now becomes clear it was played in CGCGAD!

Even for someone such as myself who does not play guitar, to hear a master such as Mr. Petteway speak, teach and play so easily is inspiring in its own right.

Deminds me of two of Dave Evans' tunings: CGDGAD and CGCGAC.

Aaaah, never though about tuning down the high e, I mostly tuned my guitar like this to get the double triads. Imma have tuh try that.

Nice. I am doing a lot in a similar tuning. Martin Carthy's CGCDGA, I wonder did you need to compensate at the nut for the low C? Perhaps you are not using heavy strings ? Thanks

Found this tuning form being lazy when tuning to open C. I was lazy and didn't tune the 2 highest strings to C and E and kept them as A and D when I was in D standard.

These tuning is well suited for Chinese guqin harmonics? I'm leaving the same boring old open tuning now.
