There is definitely photo editing going on, but I think it's kind of shame because these wigs look nice enough to not need it. I wish they would show some natural pictures!
I also prefer buying short wigs because I don't plan on cutting my hair. So it's nice to see these styles, I am definitely planning on buying a few of these now that I know what they actually look like.

This is a great video! The fact how different Dream Holic wig colours look on their stock pictures vs real life (and how obvious it is that the stock pictures are heavily edited to be aesthetic rather than accurate) is the main reason why I never purchased one. (The one time I had the chance to buy these in person, the stall was so poorly set up that it was basically impossible to see anything anyway.) These days I wouldn't purchase them anyway, as I have discovered my holy grail wig shop (Dalao Home on Taobao) and as theirs are much, much cheaper, whilst still incredibly high quality, I feel like I already have more than I could really need. Though I agree with you on wanting to get wigs in colours and styles that you'd never get done yourself - this is my philosophy too, which is why basically all my wigs have some sort of a curl (though majority of them are natural coloured, I'm just not that keen on the unnatural coloured hair look).
I just checked out Dalao Home for the first time, and I'll have to keep them in mind! If I ever want something more natural, especially, I'll have to check them again because I see tons of options. Since I bought my first wigs in-person, it definitely was a different experience than what it would have been online, since there were no stock photos or anything to influence me. I hope I get the opportunity to maybe check out some other brands in-person someday...not including the generic cosplay ones that are the typical convention fare.
@@RecklessRave they do carry some other colours, but it's very much tied to only certain styles. They're not quite as big as Dream Holic to have mmajority of the styles available in majority of the coours. Shopping in person definitely is different, especially with wigs. There are some shops that I know I can trust, most of which were recommendations from friennds, but out of the typical cosplay wig stores there's only one that I've tried that I've had a good experience with.
I have mixed feelings about Dream Holic. Thank you for doing this review. I got to see a friend's dream holic wig in 2018 (at that point it had been some time since she had bought it, might have been years) and I was surprised with how natural it looked. That was the reason why I ordered 3 from their storeEnvy shop (150euro total incl shipping and custom duties). When I received them I was so disappointed with the quality. Turns out DH has switched manufacturers, so they were a different quality and I wasn't the only one who had that problem with them. Since this means buying a DH wig is quite a gamble this is one of the reasons why I would suggest people either buy them irl from a stand, or order from taobao because it's cheaper than their storeEnvy just like you said. In any case, I've seen wigs from Alice Garden irl (available on ebay and amazon) and their 14~17 dollar wigs (free shipping) are so similar to my DH wigs. The fiber quality, cap construction and hair thickness looks the same. Maybe if my DH wigs had been at that price point I would not have been so disappointed.
I've actually bought several Alice Garden wigs since I did this video, and I agree that they are very similar to Dream Holic in quality. I wish I could have seen or experienced the old Dream Holic, and I agree that the price on StoreEnvy is too much for what they are. I still buy Dream Holic, even after discovering Alice Garden, because they have some designs and colors that I really love, but the construction and fibers alone would not justify the price difference between the 2 brands. One thing I do still like better about Dream Holic - the construction of the cap part of the wig is sturdier (though it's not like I get rough and tough while wearing these, lol).
@@RecklessRave Thank you for your response. I actually think your wigs don't look that bad under the lighting in the video (looks like direct lighting, correct?). My dh wigs seem to look more plastic-y. One of the 3 wigs I ordered had ratty ends (deep fried look) so I had to cut those. It's not like I could return them anyway so I did the best I could with the wigs I received. I applied all of the tricks to make them look more natural. The only thing that worked, and only just a little, was powder. Other people received dh wigs that were so thin you would see the tracks in the back. There are just so many fluctuations in quality. People who were used to having better quality dh wigs were disappointed when they bought dh wigs after the manufacturer switch. It's not all doom and gloom though. I liked the colour gradation on one of the wigs I got (the other ones did not have a gradation). And dh does have many designs and colour options. I wore one of the dh wigs with a head bow, and that did a teensy bit for making it look better because it covers up a small portion of the wig that would receive a lot of direct light. And then I had the thought of wearing a full bonnet over dh wigs, which would cover up all of the parts that otherwise shine the worst under direct lighting (the top of the wig). That would mean I probably also wouldn't need to apply powder anymore either (which is messy and makes the wig hard to comb and style after application). One other difference between Alice garden wigs and dh wigs is that if I buy an Alice garden wig on eBay for 17€ with free shipping it's below my country's customs line. You have to pay duties when the price +shipping of an item is over 20 or 21€, somewhere along those lines. You have to pay 12€ or 17,50€ in administration costs depending on your shipping method plus 21% tax on the price of the item. So that means no added costs on a 17€ wig. But if I bought one from dh storeEnvy I would need to add 17,50€+21%. That's exactly what happened. I bought three wigs in one go, then had to pay 17,50€ plus 21% tax. I'm afraid that dh wigs from taobao would also be over the tax line.

@@itsalwayshalloweenexceptwh5118 Yeah, based on that amount, I do think the DH wigs would be over the limit, even from taobao. Those extra charges certainly complicate the decision of whether or not to buy. Under that circumstance, I would probably only buy a DH wig if I were extremely in love with it...the gradation is my favorite thing about their look so it would need to be something really unique. It's really a shame that they couldn't stick with the quality standard that they used to have.
@@RecklessRave Thank you, I agree with everything you've said. Besides, there are worse quality wigs you could get even at dh storeEnvy's price point. I'm considering getting a human hair wig in February. It's a mid brown colour, in a long bob with bangs. It's about 54 £ (pounds, not euro or dollars) without shipping. It's from the UK and will be sent to the Netherlands so hopefully when I order it there will be no customs duties. This is why I hope they don't Brexit.

@@flamebloom4659 This brand definitely doesn't need any special or specific care! They store easily and and they don't get many tangles, except for the big, floofy "Miss Tess" wig that I showed (so I probably would not recommend that one for beginners).
