I was 14yo in 1983 and absolutely loved that game show. My friends and I would play our own made up version in our SoCal garage and I was the female version of legendary Bob Eubanks. Great memories for sure. Thanks for sharing👍
Every time I heard Bob Eubanks say the chosen numbers couldn't be changed, I always thought of "The Price Is Right's TEMPTATION". Bob Barker said all chosen numbers could be changed.
This is rare for a couple to win their Dream House on the first try. Most couples would take up to 5 days before the Golden Doors ever opened! AND THEY SAID IT COULDN’T BE DONE! Says Bob Eubanks. What a great video here. Kenneth Huang 1/14/23.
OH MY GOD, they did it, they won a brand new dream home on their first day, I just people winning expensive prizes, that includes winning a dream house!!
Seeing what happened when the wife activated the security code has helped me to overcome my terrible childhood fear of the 'WHOOP, WHOOP, WHOOOOP' sound effects on "The Price Is Right".
If I were hosting a reboot of this show!!--IT WOULD CALLED DREAM HOUSE & CAR or DREAM HOUSE +!! THE BONUS FORMAT IT WOULD BE THE SAME WAY EXCEPT WHEN YOU GO TO THE ELECTRONIC LOCK--EXCEPT THAT IF YOU PICK THE CORRECT COMBINATION!!--YOU NOT ONLY WIN YOUR DREAM HOUSE BUT YOU ALSO WIN A NEW CAR 🚙. BUT HERE,S THE SUPER EXCITING PART!!--IF YOU PICK THE CORRECT COMBINATION ON YOUR VERY FIRST DAY!!--YOU WIN YOUR DREAM HOUSE & $1,000,000 & 2 NEW CARS😮!!
The master tapes for the series were destroyed in a flood several years back, so the only existing copies of some of them are ones that people recorded off-air.
This video was first shot in my childhood(the woman wears a nice dress). Now, instead of rooting for those to win a house, I root for those to clean the house and win million$ of dollar$ on a game show. Come on! Everybody wants money to do all from buying a house to getting their elders the best in geriatric care nowadays!😁🌚😆😀🙃
I remember when this aired on WMAR TV 2 HERE IN BALTIMORE WHEN THEY WERE WITH NBC.12 YEARS LATER CH.2 SWITCHED TO ABC WHILE NBC MOVED BACK TO WBAL TV 11 & CBS MOVED TO WJZ TV 13!!.--I WAS 11 IN 1983!!
Housing developers needed to offer up a houses to promote their developments. This developer had two developments, one in Summymead ( San Bernardino/Riverside, CA) and another in Florida. Contestants mostly from So. Cal needed to think what if I win, am I going to move there? We won the 18th home in the run of the show. But the first by this developer. They flew us out with Bob in a jet helicopter to the development and Newspapers were there and the actual developer was not so happy we waon a house from him. We walked down a block and chose one just by pointing at it. It was on a cul-de-sac down the block from the community center and pool /tennis courts. The show was on when I a boy, I remember it was in BW, but maybe that was the kind of TV my parents had.
I believe what killed Dream House is Wheel taking off after its syndication debut. Before Wheel was pulling mid 20 shares with DH holding about 80% of that audience. Afterwards Wheel skyrocketed to the low 30's (and beating the first half of TPIR to boot), but Dream House did not grow with it, falling to about 60% of retention. The cost of producing it probably didn't make it worth it to move to the noon or 10AM slot either.
Congratulations on the win. If I remember correctly from episodes of this I have seen, the day's champion couple usually won a room of furniture no matter what. Just out of curiosity, was that the case for you, and if so, what kind of room was it?
Yes, true. We were ahead at the break and won a washer and dryer. Then we continued and were playing for the kitchen room, but snagged the whole thing, and the appliances.
GREAT WIN. And I hope I'm not being rude, but you and Allison didn't had any family coming out of the audience with the hugging and screaming and celebrating, you what I mean.
I remember watching Dream House in "83-'84 and even watching the videos here on RU-vid including this one there are 6 couples who won a house (either automatically or winning X days in a row) only twk couples had family members to come on the stage to congratulate the winning couple, sorry. Perhaps family members didn't want to sit through up through seven tapings just to congratulate a win back in the 80's, who knows.
If this show were MY the couple that picks the right combination & WINS THEIR DREAM HOUSE ON THEIR VERY 1ST DAY NOT ONLY WINS THE HOUSE BUT THEY WOULD ALSO A BONUS OF $1,000,000 & 2 NEW CARS WITH $50,000 IN BOTH TRUNKS!! The new name would be called SUPER DREAM HOUSE & MORE!!
If I were to produce a revival of this show, I'd have celebrity/contestant teams, with the contestant being eligible to win the house. And in the bonus round, only the contestant would decide what buttons to press on the combination lock. If the combination lock doesn't open the doors, but if the contestant gets one correct number of the combination, he or she wins $1,000; if a contestant gets two numbers of the combination combination right (but not the third), he/she would win $10,000.
Hi Ray, thanks for posting your win of your Dream House here on RU-vid. I know it takes time to digitize the video tape to post here on RU-vid but it's not that many episodes of the show here on YT which is probably the reason people are asking for you to show the episode. Also your header on this clip says June 1983, that is not correct, sorry. The show premiered in April 1983 with diferent tbeme music versus what's in you clip but more importantly I know in June '83 you got a number off the electronic lock on your first day, you guys didn't meaning you automatically won the house on your 6tb day. When the game first appeared it was seven, then five and then six days to automatically win the house and those changes dudm t occur within 2 months PLUS 3 couples dudm t win a house on their first day from April '83 to June '83 cause there is a YT video where Bob Eubanks says to a couple on day 1 that they given a house on the first day after a couple entered the combination and they won the house, you can hear the first theme music after they won. Anyway enjoy the rest of your day and again thanks for posting!
The day they record the show is not the same as the day it airs on TV. They are usually months apart as they have to edit the video and all the stuff that goes on in the background before it airs.
