I feel like more and more the carnet is passing out of existence. I know many people that drive through Iran and Pakistan (notorious for requiring a carnet) without one, or with a local one (like you did in Egypt). Hopefully one day they will be a relic of the past

Great video as always Dan, this is a really cool project. I can't wait to see it in action. Just an FYI, you can get that stupid little battery out from underneath, I think there are just a couple of bolts and the plastic battery enclosure drops down. There are some videos on the process. I went through the top as I was installing a Genesis dual battery, but it is possible to go through the wheel well.
@TheRoadChoseMe
@TheRoadChoseMe Год назад
We dropped it out from the bottom on the 3.6 gas engine, but on my 3.0 ecoDiesel there was no way to drop the plastic enclosure. As far as I could see (I spent 5 minutes looking) top is the only option on the diesel!

Looking at the overhang south of the rear axle. That's a real worry. In Australia that would probably not pass government regs for road worthiness. The first big wash out you hit at any speed is going to bend or crack the chasis rails. You need to have the chasis extended fir safer rear axle placement. Cheers.
@dathat555
@dathat555 Год назад
The Jeep chassis is not modified, so whatever hangover (not counting the box) is factory stock. If you are referring to the box extending past the rear bumper, yes it looks like hitting the rear is a concern could stress the frame rails as well, though I expect the box would break well before the chassis. In person it may look different.

I was wondering how the units would be bonded to each other. Canada has some aircraft that have continued in production with aluminum and rivets, but new propulsion and flight controls. The water scooper has a honeycomb hull to resist sinking if damaged while scooping.

@BobTheBlue
@BobTheBlue Год назад
Impressive stuff Dan! Can’t wait to see the next phase! But I still think you should have chosen your own colour, white is so boring!
@TheRoadChoseMe
@TheRoadChoseMe Год назад
There is actually a very good reason for the white - composite materials start to lose their strength when they get above certain temperatures, so keeping them white ensures they stay as cold as possible in the sun. That's why composite aircraft are always white...
@BobTheBlue
@BobTheBlue Год назад
@@TheRoadChoseMe yeah but no. Aircraft fly at 30,000 feet, hence the white fuselage. You’ll be at ground level, so paint temperatures are much less important. You are creating a great new and exciting brand here so own it, with your own colour scheme…
