Dream Smasher: Dante (Full Smash Moveset) 

I feel like Dante should be the first character to be able to Air Taunt.

If Dante wins, after the "Game" comes, a bunch of bullets should hit the screen like in DMC3-5.

It’s a missed opportunity if you can’t *SWORD-TRICKSTER-GUNSLI-SWORD-ROYALGUARD-*

Also, if Dante wins, the transition to the victory screen should be bullets blowing through and eventually shattering the screen

I think that Dante should throw a rose for one of his Taunts that actually has a hitbox

Another possible victory screen could have him say "How come I never meet any nice girls" exclusively after defeating female fighters

One of the victory animations should be his Jackpot pose at the end of DMC5

I just want to see him destroy competitive smash all over again

The fact I wince at footage of DMC2's Stinger reminds me how much that game hurts

The intro movie for Dante should be him and Joker interacting. I imagine it'd start with Joker fighting Bayonetta before Bayonetta is knocked off screen by a white-haired, red jacket wearing figure. The figure stands up and turns around, only for it to be Dante with a pizza slice in his mouth.

Air trick was introduced in devil may cry 3. It was Vergil’s main style technique. Also there is so many weapons in dmc. You could have had some of those in here.

Well done, Matt. I really like how this was put together. Both the editing and the thought you put into Dante's moves and controls.

Just random idea that I had: What if Dante's gimmick in Smash was switching weapons. Basically if we go with DMC3 Dante (since I think that's the most iconic Dante and the one with most devil arms) we would have 5 weapons to choose from (Rebellion, Cerberus, Agni and Rudra, Nevan and Beowulf) He could have a weapon wheel similar to Shulk's Monado Arts. Each weapon would have a different moveset although some moves would still be the same for every weapon (this could be moves where he uses his guns: Ebony & Evory, CoyoteA, Kalina Ann, etc) He would also have DT and depending on the weapon the appearance of the DT would change, just like in actual DMC3. For his alt he could have a DMC1 costume (since you actually get one in DMC3) and Rebellion could change to Alastor. Basically I just really want Dante in Smash and this is how I would do it. I love DMC3 and this would be a love letter to that game, in Smash form. Anyways great video man! Love the ideas you had. Either way we get Dante in Smash would be a win so let's hope it actually happens some day! EDIT: Also for his Final Smash he could have a cinematic attack called "Jackpot!" where Vergil comes to help him and it would be just like when they fought Arkham in DMC3: a bunch of simultaneous slashes ending with both of them shooting Ebony & Evory at the same time and saying "Jackpot!" Now that would be SSStylish!!

I personally feel like they should have a special move for Dante should be to give him a style meter and depending what rank he gets before the timer of the move runs out it will either boost his attack, defense, speed, jump, and SSS would be all of them but lasts half as long as having only one would have

I always had this theory that Dante and Bayonetta are actually Jokers Parents. I mean the resemblance between Joker and Bayo is uncanny, but an affinity with a giant demon (Arsene) a fondness for trench coats, rebellion sword Rebellion gauge? And some people who worked on Bayonetta also worked on DMC5. His Devil Trigger being similar to Jokers Arsene move. Idk i always liked to think that.

If I had to put Dante in smash I would make him change styles just as in DMC 3 4 and 5 while using his taunts.

I may be late, but I like this. It seems like a really good move set. The only thing I would change is the outfits. I feel like the other dmc outfits from the games would be fitting. Even other outfits like the Sparda outfit instead of it being a color swap. Also, if he wore his other outfits, the weapons would change but the attacks remain.

Man, I genuinely don't know if I'd rather have Dante or Nero for Smash, because they'd both be SUPER fun to play. I think Dante would be a lot of fun to play in Smash, but a little complicated. While Nero would be a lot easier to adapt, based on how few moves he has compared to Dante; plus his Devil Breakers would be a lot of fun to use.

I feel like it would be pretty awesome if Dante’s movesets were interchangeable, kind of like the mii’s and their specials, giving him a whole different playstyle depending on what moves you use. Wanna just hit everyone? Pick sword master or maybe royal guard for a tank. Like your long range attacks? Try Gunslinger, and maybe Trickster allows for a variety of dodges, and give him a much better recovery and evasive techniques at the expense of less offensive power overall. And perhaps each style move set has a different weapon for each one, so it isn’t just doing same combos with vastly different weapons.

Well since the Sephiroth update costume variant final smashes exist so I propose the Vergil color’s final smash has actual Vergil walk in and JCE with one of his various activation lines from 3 and 5.

My pain is sharp.. and constant

Dante's Stage could be the top of Temen-Ni-Gru where he fought Vergil for the first time in DMC3, so it would be a stage you can't get under. In the background there could be Leviathan flying around and during the fight the Background would change from the Human World to the Demon World every once in a while. To the left and the right of the tower Air Hike Glyphs, serving as Platforms, would appear occasiannly and dissapear soon after. The Omega and Battlefield versions would just be the Top of the Tower as a floating Plattform, with the Battlefield version either featuring the Air Hike Glyphs as platforms or simply floating stone slabs. Maybe similar to the Persona 5 Stage the music picked could alter the Stage. DMC3 Tracks would have no effect on the stage, as it originates from that game, any of Vergil's Boss Themes would cause Rainfall on the Stage, DMC5 Tracks would turn the top of the tower into the top of the Qliphoth and maybe DMC1 tracks could make it the roof of one of the towers of the Mallet Island Castle (even though technically Dante never fought there, but it would be inconsistent to leave that out), DMC4 tracks could make it the top of the Order of the Sword HQ, and lastly DMC2 tracks would make it the top of the Sky-Scraper where Dante fought the Demonized Helicopter. Whatever would be flying in the background could also change depending on the Stage-Style. DMC1 would have the Red Airplaine Dante and Trish escaped with, DMC 2 would have the Demon Helicopter, DMC3 as already mentioned Leviathan, DMC4 would have the Savior and the DMC5 variant would feature Vergil in Sin Devil Trigger flying around the tower as he did in one of his stronger Attacks in DMC5's final battle.

I know I'm a month late to this video, but DAAAANG! This moveset is legit!! I mean, the only thing throwing me off about it is the Royal Guard system, but aside from that, I would totally play this version of Dante. As a bonus, you earn a virtual pizza slice from yours truly.

I justhave to say this because it urks me when people say it originated from 5, but...Syn Devil Trigger was introduced in 2 as a semi-secret transformation that only triggered (pun partially intended) when Dante was at critical health. It was speculated that, as an incomplete version that Dante used purely out of desperation, slowly consumed his human side...which certainly explains Dante's bland demeanor compared to the other games. 5's version is basically just the completed/perfected form.

Imagine the next Smash game releases, and the DLC is announced. The Nintendo game console logo transition plays ( If it doesn't release on the Switch of course ), It plays a cutscene from Devil may cry 5, Dante and JD Morrison is talking when Dante is handed a letter. He picks it up then flips it to find that he has been invited to Smash

Honestly, he has pretty high chances for Smash Ultimate now. If the decision was made to put him in the game before DMC was announced to come to the Switch, this could be very likely.

I know this was uploaded a year ago and I don't know if anyone has already addressed this, but ground trick doesn't send you into the air. Infact it locks you to the floor. Really handy move since you can essentially spam it unlike air trick, closing any distance, no matter how far.

I actually wrote up a Dante moveset years ago and I really like yours, but I would make the following changes (Will be watching the other vid later) (I did give him weapons from various games even though he doesn't have them in 5 because if Ryu gets Focus Attack and Shin Sho, and Megaman gets weapons from all the games, then Dante can have all his weapons): The crouching animation can come from UMvC3 as the DMC5 one feels a bit awkward I feel like DT is better for part of his final smash, I had his down special be Quicksilver, but like a fair version rather than pre-patch Witch Time For the Neutral Special I had Pandora, as Ebony and Ivory are used for throws in my moveset and the Disaster Meter is the mechanic I gave him. I put Stinger as the Side Special as it gives him a horizontal movement option. I gave him High Time as his Up B to work like Climhazzard. For his Final Smash I came up with a sort of team attack where Dante catches the targets with Stinger, triggering a cinematic. Lady and Trish lay down a barrage of projectiles and lightning respectively, Nero grapples the opponent in Devil Trigger before tossing them to Dante for a Devil Triggered "Jackpot!" I like the idea for the Royal Guard mechanic, though I feel like without DT (Which I personally wouldn't put) it does become a bit unbalanced. I did have the same animations for his block and Parry in my list though. I agree with the dodge animations, air flip is actually a cool idea though, I think I prefer tha- oh wait it was in 2... For the ledge attack I stretched in a different way, giving him the overhead kick at the end of Vergil's Lunar Phase when using Beowulf, love iAsobu's visualization though! I know it's not as accurate but I would've done the Rebellion Combo A (But keeping Million Stabs obviously) For the dash I gave him Reverb Shock as a number of dash attacks like Mario's have the character slide to stop which is how Reverb Shock worked in MvC3... kinda (I have a personal bias here in that I wanted his moveset to show off as many moves as possible) I gave him Prop Shedder as his forward tilt as he does kinda lean forward when using it and can also be used for spacing, but you don't have to commit as hard to movement I felt Twister it as a good up tilt, not doing too much damage, but doing a bunch of rapid light hits and covering all around him, mashin would make it into Tempest for higher range but more recovery. I put Break Spiral as his Down tilt, though for just one "spin" instead of multiple I gave him King Cerberus's Fire Slash, with the charging animation having the weapon form into a staff in his hand as the move charges Real Impact is an amazing move, not denying that, but I felt Million Carats was a bit better for the Up Smash at it was used as a sort of upward launching attack in MvC3 and also hits above and around Dante For the down smash I had him do a quick Doughnut with Cavaliere (I believe it's Combo B if I'm not mistaken), kinda like Wario's Down Smash I think Aerial Rave is a bit too combo heavy so I gave him Long Revolver as his N-Air. Helm Splitter feels more "down" than "forward" to me so for the F-Air I gave him the hammer, functioning similar to Mario, DK, and Banjo's f-airs, though in proper MvC fashion, it can spike There is one way Dante can easily attack behind him: Backslide. While I don't currently have the means to confirm this, I think I remember Backslide being usable in the air, I could be wrong though. Up Air is actually kinda hard for me to feel satisfied with, the most I could find that worked for me personally was an upward angled Swing from Cerberus or the flip kick he does when he gets Gilgamesh in the cutscene. Either way I'll stick with the former, but I can see Feather Combo working. Sky Dance was my immediate choice for down-air. You have to commit to the fall, it's rapid hit and pulls the opponent down like Corrin's D-Air, but it has Dante's own flair to it. I see your idea and I'm honestly surprised I didn't think of that, though for the grab itself I have Kalina Ann's Grapple down as his tether grab Light jab makes sense I have Lucifer down as his forward throw, where he throws two spikes and detonates them. The runner up for me was his forward throw from MvC3, but I wanted to put Lucifer somewhere aside from a taunt. For the back throw I gave him the overhead shot, his back throw from MvC3 For the up throw I had him launch them with High Time as well, though I had him follow up with Acid Rain, kinda like Mewtwo's forward throw. When the shots rain back down they do damage, but not knockback or hitstun. I put Cold Shower as his down throw, Wild Stomp works just as well I swapped the inputs for "Come on!" and "Ya scared?" and put Ecstasy as a taunt, like Dudley's in Street Fighter. "The rest is silence" is fucking BRILLIANT. For his other pose though, I put a variation of his win pose from MvC3. I see Devils Never Cry, I acknowledge and agree with it, but I also can't help but entertain the idea of a short clip of Devil Trigger. Losing animation is great. Everything else I agree with.

You know, overall I like this moveset. The concept I'd come up with personally hinged on his down special being a "style change" special that kind of worked like Shulk's Monado Arts, letting you switch styles on the fly, and the style he's in would change what his other specials do-- and potentially more beyond that. I do like the idea of giving him a wholly unique shield mechanic, though, so as to replicate Royal Guard that way. On one hand, having both Royal Guard as a style in addition to the universal Smash shield might be redundant, but there are other characters with somewhat similar shield moves, such as Pit's guardian orbitars.
