DREAM THEATER - Fall Into The Light (OFFICIAL ANIMATION VIDEO). Taken from the album "Distance Over Time", out Febuary 22nd, 2019. Order now: Dream-Theater....
Life goes on but in my Heart is my wife Olga She died Last November 2018. and The music of Dream Theater is my healer for my sadness ! Rest in Peace my dear Olga ! We will always Love You in our Minds !
The band and the producer have officially apologized for that and assured that it won't happen again. If you return your item you'll get a free replacement where the bass has been remixed to the proper "And Justice For All" level we expect in a Dream Theater song.
Brylle Cortes also Fatal Tragedy, Lifting Shadow off a dream and part of Breaking all illusions. My post was only for fun because usually he doesn’t talk a lot during the interviews or events like that, but he is a great musician and when he wrote lyrics, usually are amazing.
“Fall Into The Light is about the quest towards enlightenment that exists in life. It is more about the underlying themes of life’s journey and less about what happens once you get there. It is a song of introspection; about looking inside to find your individual happiness.” - John Myung
@@talaniel facebook.com/dreamtheater/videos/1238296899641883/ I first saw the quote here on their official FB page... it's true one doesn't usually hear him say too much haha
I came into this with low expectations, but hey, there's a little taste of Black Clouds and Silver Linings here. Maybe even a little bit of Six Degrees! Best single in a long time from these guys.
Honestly, if the rest of the album sounds something like this, I will be extremely pleased. The keys in this song sound so fantastic, and the mix between the bass and low end of the guitar really compliment each other, here. I think the aggression is what has been missing from the past couple of albums, and this satisfies that itch for the most part. Hoping for a fairly heavy album overall, this time around.
This is already sounding like the best Mangini DT record. I think the way this record was written by jamming has really highlighted the best of the chemistry of the current lineup.
I came to know dream theatre through my boyfriend. He was a big fan. He died 13days ago in an accident. I am terribly missing him. Listening this song.
I'm just hear for the usual comments about Mangini being a robot, how Labrie is ruining the band & how this is not old school enough like Images & words.
Am the guy the says they aren't like images and words 😂 only because patrucci's pickups are too hot! But this song is pretty good. And the guitar doesn't sound like mush.
First song I've listened of dream theater. Didn't exactly like the song first listen, but there was something oddly satisfying that kept me coming back several more times. Now I'm all over their stuff
Same man and i can pinpoint what.. i didn't rly like singers voice but man instrumentals are so good that i started listening to Dream Theater and with time started liking vocals as well
The first DT song i heard was Overture 1928, and my mind get crush by the music... so many feelings, so fantastic. Since then, im a DT fan and a Rudess fan. This new stuff is just wonderfull and im very excited to hear this new album. DT rocks!
shit my brother got me into DT 2 years ago and just last year me my brother my dad and my brothers friend went to the immages and words concert it was the first concert I went to and i definatly got my moneys worth.
@deepthroat Well, you expected Djent from Dream Theater? I don't think they're too old school, simply because "new school" is not going to last much longer, lol.
@deepthroat because u like justin bieber dont judge dt hahahah... if u dont know about dt history and ur new fan just see the history and read about dt in their carrier history from 1987 till 2019 u will understand the progress of change the dt
You want heavy ? Take it! Insane bass ,amazing riffs after all those years! JP's instrumental part in the middle reminds me the Space Dye Vest. It's not like this ,but it has the same feeling! *John Myung's and Mike Mangin'si statement on this album for sure
@@Haffast Best moment of Space Dye Vest was at the Breaking the fourth wall. Much better than the studio version(for me). This is the moment I was thinking about when I was listening the middle section of "Fall into the light". This feeling he (JP) brought to us all once again. Imagine this moment in the upcoming tour. Highlight!
@Wednesday I'm 100% sure if DT come out with a new album ,a completely different style and new ideas ,new sound etc etc ....your comment will be exactly the same. This song is amazing. And the whole album will be. This band rocks through all these years of criticism.
@@jackw3295 Of course there is some Metallica inside but you can hear exactly the DT sound! JP also said for this song that the riffs it's an inspiration from the Metallica band.
This is (again) such a mediocre performance that I don't see how people are excited about this. I'm really starting to think that Portnoy was the glue holding the whole thing together. Nothing since his departure has been that good. Long live Black Clouds and Silver Linings!
Sorry dude, but you have really weird tastes... I was about to comment that I was sick about that snare sound lol. Btw, speaking of the song, makes me think of metropolis, riffs and melodies side by side with no sense at all :( . Unthetered Angel is like more commercial stuff, but far better than this one
Nothing less than phenomenal! Another spectacular performance by these gifted musicians. This is the DT I like listen to. Hope the rest of the album is just as progressive and soulfull.
Absolutely... It's a different experience, I first heard it on my phone speaker ... And now with my Audio Technica 80x. It's a huge difference..... It's amazing how the listening medium helps one to either like or despise a song.
This is my first time ever listening to Dream Theatre, and I'm 30, I shit you not. Growing up I've always heard of this band and for reasons I do not know, I didn't think I'd like them. So years went by and I just forgot about them. This popped up on my suggestions a few hours ago and I thought, what the hell! Maaaaaan it seems like I've been really missing out! This is incredible. And I see people saying this is nowhere near as good as their older stuff??? If that's the case then I'm in for a treat!
Long-time DT fan... This is freaking good, don't listen to negative people. By all means check out the back catalog, but don't think this release is lesser. It totally stands up to the classics on first listen.
DT's music to me is always about a fusion of emotional melodies with the good old vibes from PROG. It never goes too extreme on speed or techniques like some other modern prog bands, but I keep come back because of this steady personality which appears consistently in their music over the years. This simple yet complicated feeling can only be found in works of true masters.
Thank you Dream Theater for the wonderful music. I don't understand why some people still compare portnoy's Era and mangini's Era. There were old stuffs in which portnoy did his best. Just listen to them. Dream Theater's members aren't the guys who look back but moving forward. Thank you Mangini for your amazing and great works.. Thanks to all the guys for making great music. 👍👍👍
@@TOAOM123 Some folk get mad when a band changes, some get mad when they don't... which is why I hope they ignore both sides and just make whatever they wanna make.
@@Dinga_Detta_Chhangte "to create a music" Was that supposed to say "new music"? If so: you could easily look to bands in the same genre that are still creating new and interesting music such as haken, bad salad, circus maximum, seventh wonder, etc
Well yeah it is; Untethered Angel is poor, it sounds like a rehash of the recent stuff. This is the best song I have heard from DT since breaking all illusions. If they are going hard with the metal sound I hope there will be a few Train Of Thought crushers on here too.
@ranger1986ka changed my mind, actually it's trash lol. More seriously, I still think the song is pretty good, but maybe my judgment was influenced by the fact Untethered Angel kinda sucked haha
This is how I felt too. Untethered Angel really felt like it belonged to a previous album (too similar to some songs in sound) - but I still liked it. This is still very very DT sounding, but in a fresher way.
Intro sii biasa, pas solo petrucci mulai luar biasa, solo jordan ruddes mulai bereksperimen dengan style dan sound keyboard hammond-nya John Lord deep purple cukup menarik, Mike Mangini tetep standard2 ajj main-nya, James Labrie masih belum berani beranjak dari zona nyaman,, Klo saya sii yes, ga tau deh klo mas anang .. hehehe

Well, after he had relaxed so well on "Astonishing", he should be! As many people started to think he plays more like a robot, that Portnoy was so much more alive, etc. And what's really sad, they are right. But we know he CAN do better, just remember "Dramatic Turn of Events" - he truly delivered there! And it is great if he has really begun to deliver again!
Veniamin Rozov but on a dramatic turn of events the drum parts were written written by Jp, Mangini had no creative input on that album except for just playing the parts that were given too him, as great of a drummer Mangini is tho, I still don’t think he’s right for dream theatre, as there music is still good, but you could really tell that portnoy was really the heart and soul of the band, and I haven’t heard any instrumentals or drum parts that have had me blown away unlike stuff from constant motion, panic attack, metropolis etc, just don’t hear it anymore. And watching live stuff lately is like meh because Mangini has no charisma at all he plays almost as if he’s bored, where as mike plays with so much charisma and always trying to please the crowd and get them hyped, I love going back and watching there 20th anniversary live album, the quality is so good
Guilherme Cardoso his other bands are great love every single one of them, wish he could have done adrenaline mob a bit longer but, he belongs in dream theatre, he is dream theatre, I just hope the band will let him come back at some point before the band is done, mike is open to it, just a couple of members mostly James labrie wouldn’t like that idea
Guilherme Cardoso and the band should have taken a hiatus like mike wanted, the band obviously needed, NEEDS it to get those creative juices, the band hasn’t really amounted to much lately and it’s upsetting because they were so good
I like the song. If you don't like Dream Theater and where they are then don't listen to them. Quit complaining and comparing them to old DT. They've been a band for over 30 years. Most groups change in that time frame. If you can do better then go do it. I don't hear anyone griping about Charlie not being the singer anymore. I realize Portnoy was a big part of their sound but they still sound like DT to me. Mangini brings a different but technical sound. Things change. It's just life. I'm still a DT fan.
They have always had a wide array of music. This sounds like them to me. People who claim to be open minded, always get triggered and call a band shit, when they don't play the same song over and over.
@@TheJeffum I'm just commenting on all the people that have been replying to any DT video since Portnoy left saying they miss the old DT and it sucks. I agree they sound the same. I like the consistency. They do however have style differences each album. An example would be The Astonishing vs this album. Different style but it sounds like DT.
The unofficial uploads were taken down by the rights holder - I think it said SME - for a while yesterday, but appear to be back now. IIRC, the uploader has confirm (to RU-vid) that someone else owns the rights to content in the video before the video is allowed back on. So while unofficial videos get some views, the label still gets the ad revenue. But yeah, I don't get why this video is still unlisted. More views, more attention.
This is usually how you get exclusivitiy with extra attention from the platform you are premiering over. Views don't make the money either, neither will the album sales. So there's nothing lost. Only merch and touring make significant income.
Because now bands with their manager and label make youtube deals - in other words its like how many times a band's song got played on the radio and money royalties - so if this is inside out music and Dream Theater they have an agreement with either you tube views or youtube viewers and the band agrees to get a certain amount of money agreed upon with youtube views - just like any other youtube video channel - i think the best way to describe it is similar to radio station plays of a song over and over and royalties
and yes much more money is made from live concerts and merch than youtube plays and radio but they do get money from youtube views - some money but i guess it adds up - most of it is live concerts and merchandise - that is right -
Great start, a bit going down in the singing part, fantastic central instrumental part, good ending. Better than the first single. I can hear something of Led Zeppelin and Metallica at the beginning, something of Meshuggah here and there, good prog vibes in the central and ending part. To me, it is really, really good.
Exactly!, i think im the only one who think this sounds like a meshuggah especially where the drum and bass section riff, its heavy and proggy at the same time,so exited for this.FINALLY DREAM THEATER IS BACK!!!
@@morenoharjoyudanto8889 Yep, I hear something of Meshuggah in the fist drum part. Which is something that you can hardy listen in DT. Super-speed drums is not unusual, but this has something different.
That's why I couldn't stand DM's music over the last, I don't know, 15 years... You say "oh yes, I can hear Metallica here, and led zeppelin there"... IN DREAM THEATER SONGS I WANT TO HEAR DREAM THEATER! WHERE ARE DREAM THEATER IN THEIR OWN SONGS? If I wanted to listen Metallica, i'd go to listen Metallica
Been listening to Dream Theater since I was a 10-year-old kid. Even today, they've still got a leg up over most other bands out there, and they always provide something new to the table with every new album. That's what happens when you consist of four of the most talented musicians in the whole wide world.
sounds decent but after consumer release let's see how it sounds. they might fuck it up like they did when The Enemy Inside came out before consumer release. the drums sounded like a man's drum, but after it was officially released the drums sounded like prepubescent bickering.
Blind Guardian and Dream Theater are the bands that always bring back fonds memories. Summer evenings sitting in the garden with friends drinking a few beers and listening to those bands. I do not expect anything new or innovative and I am just glad to get more stuff from the guys. Thanks for the music.
A bunch of people and I discovered their music in the mid nineties and never stopped appreciating the shit out of them. No band has given me as much respect for music than DT. Pretty much, every show I've been to, they play a song I've never heard live before and it goes on for like 3 hours. Haven't been this excited about a new song this quickly in a while!
Dream theater has never been my favorite band. But from 3:20 and two minutes forward, it truly is and then some. it literally shivers my spine every single time.
I keep being reminded of Master of Puppets from the song structure (not a bad thing in the slightest) 9/10 track, all it needed was an extra 25 minutes and it’d be perfect
No, it would be a pile of shit if it streched to that ammount of time. They need to write naturally and not targetted to be long(looking at you astonishing!) , and this what they come with, i myself was pretty satisfied because this is the best since a long time.
I never get tired of this song, from the opening riff to the quiet part and then the way it builds up again...until the final ending...what a fantastic song!!
First time I heard DT was thirty years ago with a record called “When Dream & Day Unite”..it had Charlie Dominicci on vocal, Kevin Moore & Portnoy..I’ve seen and heard a lot of change since then..and this tune is a great addition to their already great catalogue.
they dont hate mangini.. they just cant move on about MP leave DT. whos play good i love it and dont hava a problem with that as long as the dream theater are not DEAD yet.
Standing ovation and every award for.... Composition and arrangement of this glorious music. Vocals. Guitars. Bass. Drums. Piano. Animators of this video. Graphic designers. Artists.
The first album i listened to by Dream Theater was ADToE. That is the album that drew me in. Far from their strongest but impressive enough to get me listening. It has been a strange progression but the more i have listened to Dream Theater the more i have come to love their earlier releases; Train of Thought and Scenes being my top 2 (right now but that will likely change lol). And it wasn't the first listen that made me fall in love with their older albums. They required numerous listens before i came to adore them. I am not sure why the newer releases are more appealing on a first listen while the older take more listens but maybe its complexity. Regardless, it saddens me to see so many comments wishing for the past... Yes they may have been in their prime but new is not a bad thing. I know the mixing on this song sounds a lot like their title album and the vocals are not as organic but the reality of it is, they are getting old. Can you imagine singing for this long and maintaining a voice? no. The guitar work is still dirty and i like what Rudess is doing on this song. Overall, i am pleased with what i hear.
Darth VanKar I completely agree. I think this may be almost a type of transition period for their sound. The album probably won’t break the music scene, but it could set up something that might. But yeah, they’re getting old, they might just be done. Still looking forward to the album though.
@@joshbriggs9947 When DT said they were taking the jamming/improve approach i got excited and i can see the difference in the two songs released so far. With the raw guitar into and the clean break in the middle, the bass, and the dynamic keys, this is a strong song . I think the reason Dream Theater fans are so particular and picky is because of the bar DT has set for themselves. We are comparing these new songs to older DT but if we compared it to other new releases i still think it is on another level. Oh and I've pre ordered the album and have my tickets for their upcoming tour of DOT and SFaM tour.
Well I agree with your top 2. Scenes and tot are my favorites also. I'm just glad my favorite band of all time is still making music. I do wish portnoy was back in the band. But I guess that's not gonna happen any time soon. In the meantime I'll just enjoy whatever music they have left in them.
I not only came here to listen to a KILLER song from my favorite band since 1992, but also to be entertained by the incessant whining of the haters that have only bitched about DT since MP quit the band and can’t seem to move forward with their lives.
Since Portnoy left? Man, people have been bitching about DT since Moore left. Basically every new album after Awake have come with a new bunch of people bitching about DT.
The journey with DT's music has been absolutely Majestic...untill now... They need to invent a new term for absolutely incredibly amazing... Can't wait to consume the new album🤟🏼
I had the privilege of seeing John Petrucci last night at small show at Sweetwater Sound. They had his complete rig set up from the recording of this album, every piece of it. He told some funny stories and did a Q&A but the fun part was him breaking down exactly how he came up with the some of the songs for the new album. Piece by piece he showed and described the entire process. It was a total gearhead show. Not only is he an unparalleled musician but he is an extremely nice guy as well.
@@mike91x what do you consider a good song by Dream Theater? How about we get them to release Images and Words over and over again every year, since that is probably the only album that can be considered "true" Dream Theater and is therefore the only one that appeals to your obnoxious and anti-progressive mind?
YYYEEESSSSS!! Love everything about this song. If you haven't heard it in headphones, please do. So powerful and beautiful. A little squashed dynamically but hey, it's supposed to be a heavy mix. I love the chorus progression too. Very haunting in a way. Can't wait for the rest of the album!
Proghead88 I have heard it through my IEM and earphone, Ive got the details, all the component, mixing and music material (I mean their reference and influence to build this song), in my opinion, this song is amazing ... I love the mixing ... (IMO) it sounds more brighter than 2 previous album and the details of mangini’s cymbals and myung’s bass are awesome, also petrucci’s guitar effect sounds so great (Dont blame me if I like it, LOL)
Yeah that's Ben Grosse for ya lol, but he is good at giving instruments tonal clarity, even if it's a bit mid mainstream rock compressed. I always love the way he mixes drums
Like so many songs by DT it's taken many listens to grasp all that's in it . I listen to it three or four times last night and found the song playing in my head today . I did another listen tonight and it all came together ...........another fine song by DT. See you guys in Denver at the Paramount !
