I always prefer musicianship > showmanship. But man, I liked that fill on its own, but got completely bamboozled when Jordan had already switched to the Keytar... this is what makes live shows special, those small surprises :)

While the fill was a nice surprise, it would've been completely unnecessary had Jordan solo'ed on they keytar all the way through the instrumental section. Not like he couldn't, technique-wise, and not like his keytar doesn't have an expression controller on the handle. Also it would've made it a bad-ass duel-like thing with Petrucci. But oh well.

Having gone to over 200 live shows of well known bands and over 1000 live shows in my life, being an amateur musician myself, I'd like to think I have a pretty good idea of what I am talking about. Also, as a DT fan of the 90s and 00s, having been privileged enough to see them live, once in every keyboardist era, I've always thought they seemed bored on stage and wished for more stage presence. That comment above about showmanship < musicianship is very true, but there's got to be a balance. I stand by what I said and will respectfully agree to disagree, since it's your post and you're king of the castle. Drum fill was nice.

It really pays off to teach your ear how to listen for bass in music. Back when I was young, I missed every genius thing that Flea did in RHCP when he wasn't playing a lead role in the song. Now with DT and Haken, listening for the bass parts enhances the song so much. Bass is really an underappreciated instrument, especially considering how someone who knows what they're doing with it, like Myung, can change the song entirely.

I’ve been a drummer for 28 years, Mangini is probably one of the top 5 drummers in the world (look at his resume) it was kinda disappointing listening to MP (who is a great drummer, just not in the same league as Mangini) playing this song and just skipping some of the double bass patterns live. Mangini is an absolute beast.

I got into DT for a minute when I was 15, and Pull Me Under was on the radio. I was studying drummers like Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, Sean Reinert, and Gene Hoglan. I'll just say the old catalog sounds incredible now. It's everything it could have been. And the material from 2010 and on is phenomenal. Congrats to DT!

These guys going along me from beginning of my life, since I discovered their song from album Systematic Chaos in year 2007, from that moment I never stop listening their music, because is full of energy, I feel much better after listening each of their song. I'm so damn excited for this. Scenes is my favorite album of theirs (possibility just favorite of all time, regardless of band), that purple nebula guitar is lookin' sexy as ever, the audio just keeps getting better somehow, and that last-minute handoff to Jordan's keytar was the perfect cherry on top. I say this every time DT release a live DVD, but this one is poised to be the best yet!

I was there for this. Last fun night out before lockdown! I like that they've slightly mixed the audio from the live version. I think it works well for the video/live DVD. But nothing like being there in person!

I play the album to death, even 20 plus years later. Still one of my all-time favorite albums. Getting to see it live in Philly during this tour was just beautiful. It was pristine and crisp, still had all the soul of the original.

@@progxdt It is in my opinion the DT Album they could never Top Before and After No other Album comes even close. Its like a more Metal and more complex version of Images and Words. With even better Songwriteing. and it had Jordan Rudess in his Prime.

Mike and the greatest metal drummer of all time. He was the soul of the dream theatre. His technique his game his inspiration have no equal to this day. He makes his drums sing nobody has ever pushed the limits so far from the simple domain of percussion. Total respect to this great artist.

Drum sound is awesome because it is edited here.If you listen the same songs from amateur shots you will see that they used drum replacement. Huge tuning difference with real and unreal one.You can easily understand from the snare.

@@greywebs1944 I like Portnoy but Mangini took it to another level, people say he is robotic but it’s his precise style and technique that some don’t get. Both guys are awesome!

Both are great, I prefer portnoy as a drummer, but I wouldn't complain at having Mangini either. Its sort of the Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady argument, except their skillsets overlap more as drummers.
