Based on this and The Alien, one thing is clear: this album will have some of the best mixing done in the history of DT. Like come on, those drums sound absolutely killer. Bravo recording and mixing engineers!! You get way too little credit anyway.
Glad it's out tomorrow so I don't have to spend an entire week listening to a 30 second teaser on repeat again Now we start the excruciating one month wait until the full album, and my even more excruciating six week wait until their Nov. 4 tour date
I think this is the album where DT Fans will give Mangini a break, and finally be able to feel like he's a part of the bands legacy, and stepping out of Mike's shadow.
don’t think so, DT fans MUST complain about anything. It’s not hard to still find comments about MooreXRudees or whatever, but the delicious part is watching the band moving forward regardless of what the toxic fan base think and giving us every 2-3years a new album! :D Pity for those who cannot enjoy their music - but give them views anyways :D
@@JEDSaje15 Thanks! Nice, thats a lot of years of jamming right there! I got the JP70, my first venture into the world of 7-strings. I've had a purple Majesty for a few years now, but I'd definitely love to get one of his more premium models one day. Rock on!! 🤘🏻
Υοu are a fan for...20 years, you live in England and still you haven't watched the band live? I live in Athens and i have been to their concerts 12 times here and 5 more abroad! My first one was in...London in 1993...
@@AtomizedSound Drums sounds like the Mapex that Portnoy used to play. Beat, groove and specialy snare sounds like Mapex. Although I prefer Tama's sound. Anyway, let's see what's coming.
I’m predicting the “Modern Dream Theater Track 2” vibe for this track. Forsaken, A Rite of Passage, Build Me Up Break Me Down, Paralyzed, that kinda thing. VERY excited to hear the whole album!!
I think they are settling into a "new" sound with Mangini. His playing is so much more prominent, and you can tell he's pushing the other players to come with him.
This is the DT we were looking for, centered around guitars and drums and with that DT unique sauce that we all know and love. Welcome back Dream Theater, we've missed you.
as much as I miss Portnoy, Mangini feels like yes incorporating some type of the old drum licks into this new album which is fine by me I think he's been holding back and just doing the bare minimum now he seems to be more comfortable and will be offering more behind the kit
listened to the whole song just now, I'm not a fan of Mangini but he totally digged that 7/4 in the first verse, finally I sense some feeling attached to the greatest technique
"Before we do anything else, lets play Overture 1928 except with a spookier melody, and then play that cool drum breakdown from Home for a few measures."
The clean guitar at the very start sounds very much like the Opeth - MAYH clean guitars, especially Madrigal and the whole teaser is kinda Blackwater Park mixed with Outcry, Heaven's Cove and Octavarium. Really looking forward to this one!
Also can we light a candle and thank the maker on the fact that this isn't one of those cgi-3d music videos...and we get to actually see them do the song
