I bared a slight resemblance to King Lou at the time this album hit. I was a teenager, and was desperately trying to find my own identity. I saw how this brother dressed, and I was like, “well, that’s different… like me!” So, I tried to dress like him. Folks, that lasted about two days. That was HIS style alone, and my novice-ass was trying to copy it. I’ve tried stand-up comedy a few times since, and I have never gotten more laughs than I did trying to look like King Lou! 🥸😅
I don't know what happened, but all arrows point to so much black male insecurity, in a material, misogynistic world today. U listen/watch this "Ludi" gem with all its glorious imagery, lyrics, +vibes et al, just planted solid like the coolest, strongest and most stable rock in the big bad sea. No flinching. Knowing n' loving yourself is Ludi.
