Canyon presents the newly developed Exceed Hardtail. We had the opportunity to watch Lars Hartwich (Canyon Pro Sports Manager MTB) building the hardtail for superstar Mathieu van der Poel at Canyon's company headquarter.
Many small details and the use of new carbon fibres with a high tensile strength and also high stiffness could further reduce the weight of the already light predecessor. In RH M the black painted frame should only reach 835g. Despite the light weight, the maximum permissible total weight is 120kg as with all Canyon bikes.
The frame for Mathieu van der Poel shown in the video is painted white (white paint requires more paint and means a little extra weight) and in RH L only weighs a true 917g with seat clamp and dropouts.
All cables of the Canyon Exceed run in the frame and are now routed through the head tube, this makes the cables run even closer to the frame, the frame can accommodate another cable for a Dropper seat post.
Canyon präsentiert das neu entwickelte Exceed Hardtail. Wir hatten vorab die Möglichkeit in der Firmenzentrale von Canyon Lars Hartwich (Canyon Pro Sports Manager MTB) beim Aufbau des Hardtails für Superstar Mathieu van der Poel zuzusehen.
Viele kleine Details und der Einsatz neuer Carbonfasern die eine hohe Zugfestigkeit bei gleichzeitig hoher Steifgkeit aufweisen konnten das Gewicht des ohnehin schon leichten Vorgängers weiter senken. In RH M soll der schwarz lackierte Rahmen so nur auf 835g kommen. Trotz des leichten Gewichts liegt das maximal zulässige Gesamtgewicht wie bei allen Canyon Bikes bei 120kg.
Der im Video gezeigte Rahmen für Mathieu van der Poel in weiß lackiert (weiße Farbe benötigt einen höheren Farbauftrag und bedeutet etwas Mehrgewicht) und in RH L bringt mit Sattelklemme und Ausfallende nur echte 917g auf die Waage.
Die Züge des Exceeds laufen alle im Rahmen und werden nun durch das Steuerrohr verlegt, dadurch verlaufen die Züge noch enger am Rahmen, der Rahmen kann ein weiteres Kabel für eine Dropper Sattelstütze aufnehmen.
