Man. I’m a huge fan of Power Stone, Star Gladiator and other Capcom classics. I hope Power Stone deserves a remake in the near future. As a PS5 demo maybe.
I hope there's a power stone 2 tournament also here in the Philippines. please bring back the power stone 2 arcade machine in every malls. I really miss playing with my friends and others that came from different city.
All 1st place winners for the 4 tournament games this year got a special goodie bag containing a Special Dreamcast T-shirt and one official transparent Dreamcast controller: Powerstone: Clear Red Soul Calibur: Clear Blue Jojo's: Clear Green Virtual-On: Clear Black If you'd like to participate, Dreamcast 20th Anniversary event is scheduled for next year in Sept. in Southern California.
I noticed that the commenter at 2:12:06 makes a note that Galuda and Gunrock are the only characters that can knock 2 stones out with their combos but that's incorrect. Ryoma has a Punch+Punch+Kick+Punch combo that cleaves out 2 stones as well. Just wanted to chime in on this.
Capcom needs to stop playing around and remaster this... I really want a online multiplayer version of this. The PSP port was good but just not enough..
I’m pretty sure there’s an Ultimate move that can be done that nobody here’s using. I remember WangTang did a fury of kicks that ended with a cool freeze frame shot in the air. WangTang was that dude!! They need to bring this game back
I know its better in the second one and i love it. I was definately one of the best ayame players in Power Stone 2, my headstomp skills were feared in the streets.
Hmmph just wondering why they are not catching those boxes and use a directional attack. Best item on this is a gun with a directional shot. Then grab the enemy to cancel the super. Just my thought peace.
@@84unisol i haven't played this in a while but I used to grind this game heavy. Galuda had that ridiculous suplex in power mode that you could easily combo into. Man I gotta whip out the dreamcast again
These match ups are shockingly bad for tournament tier battles, no one is running up walls, picking up poles or catching boxes and it seems no one even knows how to get out of a grab!!?
I was thinking the same thing. The last few matches are decent but even Giza(the tournament champ) is probably the only person I'd say could hold his own against me. I know this game damn near like the back of my hand because of how many hours I gave it and I don't even practice anymore. Should look to see where these tourney's are held though since people are still playing it.
@@MrRockyVega Most of the people at the tournament don't play often. I think I was the only person there that had been part of a scene that at one time regularly played the game. However, picking up poles and catching boxes can be very risky. Picking up a box puts you in a lot of lag and is easy to punish. Catching a box can also put you in trouble since if the opponent is coming behind it its possible for them to follow up before you are able to throw the box back at them. Wall attacks are also very often unsafe.
@@shadetail catching boxes is one the easiest things to do in the game. You just have to know how. You should also not be trying to catch anything if you're close enough to be attacked, anyway. I do that shit all the time, bro. Same with poles. It's all about understanding the timing of things in the game.
@@MrRockyVega I'm not saying catching boxes is hard. A lot of people do it throughout this tournament. I'm saying that if the opponent is positioned correctly than catching the box can be a terrible decision that will result in a punish. Especially in match ups vs Galuda who had get big pressure and damage off of it. Pole attacks while sometimes useful for punishes and dodging supers or whiffs are usually too telegraphed to be of much worth.
@@shadetail All you have to do with pole attacks are predict when your opponent is dropping from the air. It is risky but it's not as hard as people think. Catching boxes from someone like Gunrock or Galuda is even easier because if they throw it from far away it means it will get to their opponent quicker which therefore gives them less time to close the distance. Gunrock and Galuda already run slower which makes this even more difficult. I'm honestly surprised anyone had as much difficulty against you using Galuda. He's one of my favorite characters but he has some glaring weaknesses in and out of power change mode.
Vennie that’s not bad. Shave off AT LEAST 7 or 8 seconds and report back. There may or may not be a discord server/forum/subreddit but you will not be able to gain access to the club with that time.
Well this is disappointing. Aside from the announcers only half knowing what they're talking about, the players(sans Giza and maybe Ivan) don't know how to exploit the true depth of this game and don't even do it often when they DO seem to understand it. The heavy reliance on jump kicks is so eye-rolling and if THIS is tournament play for Power Stone these guys may as well already be beaten when I pick up a controller. Don't get me started on how EVERYONE seems to pick nothing but Londo and Oedo most of the time, either.
Virus seems to know what he is doing too. The heavy reliance on jump kicking is due to the game itself. It's safe in most situations and though the reward does vary depending on the circumstance it can be large. Ground attacks just aren't as safe to approach with.
@@MrRockyVega Instead of talking down the people that competed, shouldn't you instead be happy that there was even a tourney for this game at all? Power Stone hardly gets any recognition these days, so anyone playing it is a great thing. It's not about skill, but the community and playing with like-minded folk, dude.
