This song is top tier yo. Holding this pain from Dongie is legendary! The MV story is that Yooh becomes corrupted in the beginning and starts to think everyone is against her - if you look at the scenes where JiU is the aggressor, everything is fine and pretty, where the ones where Yooh is the aggressor are the reality - the kingdom is broken from the fighting and them trying to stop her. JiU shows Yooh mercy and gets killed for it - and then she kills or banishes the other girls, and is left to rule a shattered kingdom alone.
I love Deja Vu where I think Handong really shines, but I'm always a bit disappointed that she didn't have much screentime in the MV 😢 I would've LOVED to see the choreo along the second "Holding this pain" part. I understand her part was used to tell the screen story where JiU and Yoohyeon deepened the plot, but after watching the group react to the MV, I felt that Handong was really sad 😔 I'm glad she's more recognized and that the line distribution is fairer, as well as screen time in MV. She also gets some of the coolest choreo bits in my opinion.❤❤❤
Yeah, Handong really really shined in this song with the few parts she had and her choreo in it was fantastic. Including her parts where she wasn't center, like the kick move she really got her foot up there like a martial artist lol. Our Handong is a wonderful and necessary part of Dreamcatcher- without her we don't have DeuKae
One of my favorite details is, the choreo in the end is the exact same choreo that’s in the beginning but just reversed. It’s so simple but yet very affective because it adds into the whole ‘Deja Vu’ aspect. This song really is a masterpiece and that’s not me being dramatic
Deja Vu is still one of my favorite Dreamcatcher songs. The contrast between the soft verses and the heavy chorus is elevates the greatness in both. This is also the first Dreamcatcher music video with a bigger budget, and it shows. ❤
Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu.
Brother I never clicked so fast in my life! I've said it once, I'll say it 1,000 times Deja Vu is more than just my favorite DC song it's my favorite song period. It's also the song that solidified me as a Handong bias four years ago ❤❤❤❤
As this song is a collab with a game, it has its own story. Overall, Yoohyeon is paranoid about Jiu betraying her, so she betrays her first. Each of the girls scenes represents what Yoohyeon's character did to them, like with the doors closing on SuA scene, Yoohyeon banned her (and likely all the others). But Jiu was a threat to her, so the coffin scene is quite self explained tbh. Deja Vu is a masterpiece on the choreo as well, it was made to be performed, the first and last parts are the same, but inverted, as if you were in a deja vu. Its amazing the amount of work they put in this comeback and its so sad that they had to separate soon after since Handong went to china (and im not even going to mention the 1st win controversy). Can't wait for your album reaction, Raid of Dream is still my favorite dreamcatcher album, as Deja Vu is my favorite tittle track and Silent Night is my favorite b-side.
As much as I loved Bon Voyage, I still believe Deja Vu is DC's most beautiful and complete title track... If it wasn't for Scream, I would have this song as my #1... Scream introduced me to DC, so nostalgic value has it on top spot... But music and production wise, hard to beat Deja Vu... I'm talking about in the history of music... Period!!! ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!!!

Deja Vu just hits differently with the orchestral rock, even with the Japanese moving animation, it brings different interpretations too, this is the first MV of Dreamcatcher X King's Raid, trust me the Album itself is just as great as the other album of Dreamcatcher, and in there you can find the other side of Silent Night

My only problem with their performances….I have no idea who to watch. One member will catch my eye….then a few seconds later another one entrances me…and so on. Insomnia knows the struggle though lol

That song is a masterpiece of kpop, the lyrics, the MV. All perfect. That year they should have won first prize, ¿can you believe that on The Show, our girls were robbed? the show rigged the results against DC. They deserved to have won with Deja Vu.😢
The members of DC certainly saw things differently in 2019. Check out the reactions to the 1st win with "Maison" (2022). It was pure relief mixed with disbelief that you made it. 1st place with a song is a big deal in Korea. But they have four wins now and are becoming looser and cooler. So even better than before. It must have been a great burden taken from them.
