Insomnicsy I have greatly enjoyed your videos and they have been a great help learning about the Dream Catcher members over the past few months and experiencing all there is to see... However, I have to say, this video is a huge down grade from your normal works. How COULD you make an English compilation without copious amounts of Siyeon's "yes baby yes~" in it?! I hope you will reflect on this oversight for next time.... 😁
@KiGeprak sometimes I think her Korean is better than her Chinese. Insomnicsy made this video a few months ago about them struggling in Korean and the last years Dongie had the least problems of the members😂
@@freakyplory5721 true but I think Siyeon can speak the best (after Yoohyeon). It's just how she forms sentences or just that she can form full sentences at all. Although I'm curious how and if they learn English. I think with more and more worldwide success they really got into it
@zzajizz true! But she was reading from a paper which reminded me of her Spanish at Primavera. People said that was good too although I'm sure she speaks not a single word. I think she knows a bit of English just because they get in touch with it more. But how she said it on the radio suggested that she doesn't really know the words, just the pronunciation. Although I could be wrong, Siyeon sounds a bit like that too but she definitely can speak freely like Yoohyeon (not on her level but she got a lot better). Ah this is so hard to explain, I always thought languages weren't that hard but that's just because it's a diffuse feeling. You can't really explain it.
@@moongirl8807 I think Gahyeon is next after Yoohyeon, there are bits and pieces when she'll say something in English and I'm like "whoa I didn't realize she could do that"...Honestly I don't think she's been recorded actually showing off how much she knows.
I really love her English. She sounds like she only knows the sounds of the words but she can actually speak it. It's fun because in songs her pronunciation is perfect but when she also needs to form sentences it sounds kinda wonky which I love🤣also bACoN????
@@moongirl8807 a funny moment I had was when we had an international student from Korea and had never heard of bacon and whose English was a bit limited...so in my even more limited Korean when he asked me what bacon was I thought for a second and just said...돼지 뚱뚱 (pig fat). It wasn't a great explanation and he looked puzzled, but he ended up liking it, so...a win?
I think she's the only idol who's not fluent or near fluent that I have EVER heard pronounce "thr" correctly. (That sound is an absolute abomination and one of the many reasons English has a reputation for being impossible to learn.)
Handong never gets mentioned as a language genius but she's all-in on two very different languages in Mandarin and Korean, with really good pronunciation of English too so she perfectly makes fun of Yoohyeon's mistakes. Siyeon doesn't get enough recognition how good her accent and understanding are, she's done solo English songs too.
@@XcZeus3469 Speechless. Plus she has to practice relaxing all her mouth and throat muscles to sing the more challenging parts of Can't Get You Out of My Mind, Tension English, etc. which is likely where she (and Yoohyeon) get such a neutral accent when speaking.
@@plasmakitten4261 Accents are learned particular sets of tension in the throat and mouth so sounds come out a certain way. That tension has to be released before vocal techniques can be used well. It's why British singers have different accents speaking than singing even though that's all English, and their singing sounds about the same even when their speaking accents are quite different. Being more experienced at doing that tension release would be an advantage for saying a different language without a strong accent.
She only went to visit the Philippines when she was young, but she has never studied English abroad. Gahyeon is the one who has studied in the Philippines.
@@litsfsms Yeah, this is why Gahyeon was actually arguably better at English back when they debuted. Then one day Yoohyeon woke up and decided to go god mode on language.
Omg Deukae's English speaking is adorable! It can be seen clearly that they're improving everyday and their English is getting better and better 😊 There's also Yootony's "Dami can slap me" if you consider making a part two lololol 🤣
It's pretty amazing looking back at their first few years only Yoohyeon seemed comfortable speaking English to anyone outside the group and as they become more globally famous, the other members are getting much bigger at public speaking and also they incorporate it more in their group videos.
I'm glad that the company and them are aware of it. The multiple tours helped too - by the time pandemic happens - the same time that they blew up internationally with Deja Vu-Scream-BOCA, they already stepped up their English skill, which are usable for doing online contents like vlive streams!

How can Siyeon, as clearly a relative beginner, pronounce that well? it’s remarkable how much some of the members know! behind yoohyeon i think Dami, Gahyeon, and Siyeon might comprehend the most. but i’m always surprised by SuA and Handong, and JiU’s “W??” lives in my head rent free 🥹really we are lucky to hear them speak English this often when none are native speakers. anyway, great video! loved the selection and cuts. the clips of Handong saying “sorry” *immediately* followed by your Handong “sorry” transition was perfection haha
I would guess that the three you mentioned probably have conversational-level understanding but limited speaking. That said, you can tell 2hyeon are the only members that have figured out how to think in English sentence order (objects after verbs instead of before) because the other members always sound very stilted when saying sentences with objects.
They are adorable. I love when they try and speak English. We know Yoohyeon is the best at English, but I love hearing the others try English. Jiu is adorable, and W will always be iconic. Jiu’s Rock and Roll baby, c’mon. Siyeon using English to order room service with some help from Gahyeon makes me proud of Wolfie. Yes, baby yes or any variant of that is iconic. I could listen to Siyeon’s What’s in my bag all the time. I want more album English songs or covers. I remember Yoohyeon, SuA and Dami used English during the Reading concert last year a few times.
gahyeons english dare say 2nd best after yoohyeon and can actually surpass her, if only they had more periods to use english im sure theyll all perfect it in very little time

It's perfectly okay for Dreamcatcher not to speak English imo, many people never learn a second language, and I don't think any lesser of anyone for not. That being said their English is pretty good, this is coming from a native English speaker. BUT... why am I stanning lunatics XD
They are the best non english speaker speaking in english. The hesitation is there, but they all can speak and understand some english. I think Jiu is the worst of them but that W is the cutest thing she did in english.🥰

@plasmakitten4261 I know but she has that energy, especially in that pie clip😂but that makes it even funnier I think, she interestingly has this American accent for no reason and it makes her sound exactly like that. It's like that one clip where Handong mocked her for saying "oh I'm sAOrry KAiii" and she nailed it I think. And because Yooh got angry at her it was even funnier😂
