every time I decide to investigate robot vacuum cleaners I end up watching some of your reviews. amazing job. this time I decided and I'm getting this one!! finally :D thankYou
Ok Ok Natalie this is your BEST REVIEW VIDEO YET!!! Very throughal and comprehensive review video of the Dreame D9. It soo good I don't have a single question to ask about the product 😋. Anyways when you become the NEXT Vacuum Wars Please remember Robot Masters 😊. Take Care Natalie and have a Happy Holidays!!!
Amazing test. I am a complete newbie in this field and am thinking about buying my first roomba (probably this one) and this video is nothing short than amazing. Told a complete newbie like me everything i wanted to know. Keep up the good work.
The Dreame D9 recently received an update with very interesting new functions that made it very complete in terms of features. Now it has a mop only mode; and also two levels of mop: daily use and the deep mop, which is much more efficient in this function.
can you please tell me how many passes the robot does when is cleaning a specific division? i saw in a different review that it only did 2. can we programm it to do more?
As always a great review covers all the important stuff without wasting time. It seems that the mop bracket, dust bin and the app are similar to the 360 s7. I was not expecting it to remove the dried stains with the mop, looks like a good robot. Thank you for doing what you do, I love to check out this new robots.
Great review! I wish I had your skills! Haha! Currently testing the same robot. I really love the real time map updating and cleaning is very fast..I do notice it isn't as effective as other robots I tested when it comes to picking up lots of dirt. I had to do two times double clean up to get rid of all the dirt on hard tiles. For this price I must admit.. you receive a lot!! And with the upcoming update (multimaps) it can easily be one of the best valued robots :) Dreame did a great Job!
Thanks for the great review. I'm deciding between the F9 and D9 and was wondering the advantage of LDS over F9's camera gyroscope? In terms of mapping does the D9 really works more accurately? (And if that's important?) Secondly regarding the app does it allow custom scheduling? Say I want a specific room to be cleaned at specific time ?
I would go for a lidar but it all comes from your needs. The D9 is shorter but I (personally) wouldn't trade reaching place under furniture for less advanced navigation. Not sure the D9 can be scheduled to clean a specific room. And yes, navigation of lidar guided robots is more accurate compared to a gyro + camera
Amazing review! I’m considering buying this vacuum robot. For the mopping, does it have to be water added to the chamber? Or can you add a different mopping solution?
it looks like an exact Roborock S6 copy - even the app looks the same (maybe it is the same plugin..?) with exact same features, plus electronic water level control, and a couple more sensors. thanks for the review!
I just checked Jamie video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xbcc1AHM6Xk.html and it seems like he has a brush without detachable side tips. Looks like Dreame has changed the brush design in newer devices and you got the same version as in his video.
Hello! Thank you very much for all your reviews! Could you please help me to decide between Dreame D9 and Xiaomi 1c? We have 70m2 flat and almost everywhere are carpets. I don't want it to bump things in big speed. Or should I choose completely different? Thank you very much!
Hey there, the 1C might be enough for your flat and it doesn't bump into things on full speed but for sure, the Dreame is more careful with things. I would go for a Dreame if you are willing to pay more as it has more advances navigation and mapping technology but as a vacuum those two are equally the same.
@@SmartRobotReviews Thank you very much for your answer. I've watched more of your reviews and decided to go with Roborock S5 max. Hopefully I'll be hapy with it :))
Finally a nice and complete review!! I bought the robot and I notice it tends to bump on the walls as at the min. 4.36 in your video. Is that normal or could be defective? I was expecting more awareness of walls
@@SmartRobotReviews thanks. I had the 360 s9 and I don't seem to remember it did that so often. I sent it back since the software and app were buggy and frustrating. Do you think the Dreame l10 pro is better from this point of view, beyond objects avoidance? I'll be sure to check out your future videos
The 360 S9 has a front ultrasonic sensor so it detects objects that are not visible for Lidar a bit better than the Dreame D9. The L10 Pro has a laser 3D sensor on the front bumper, so it can avoid objects like socks, cables, etc which the 360 S9 and D9 can't detect. The Dreame software is not that great too. If you want a polished app, the best navigation, and frequent software updates with bug fixes and improvements, I would suggest Roborock models, but they are more expensive compared to 360 and Dreame robots.
I see thanks. However my experience with 360 software wise was awful. The dreame environment is so much better. I'll take a look at Amazon's offers and I'll see if I can get a dreame l10pro, thanks
Hello, i've been looking many informations for my first robot. Watching your reviews make me end up considering this dreame D9 or xiaomi mop. Because i've realized i prefer a robot that mops very well :) i dont have carpets, no pets and only ceramic floors. Any recommendation, please Natalie?
Hi there, the only difference between the two is that the Dreame is a better sweeper when the Mop P is a better mop. I honestly prefer the Dreame as it's much smoother to connect to the app and overall experience with it was better. Even tho it would not replace manual mopping, it is still a nice addition to keep the floors clean for longer.
Despite having a saved map, this robot hits wall and obstructions every time, is there any setting or way to get rid of this problem. Thanks in advance.
Hello! I would choose the Dreame D9. Even though it doesn't have the Y-shape mopping, the D9 seems like a more reliable device with a larger battery, higher suction, better cleaning performance (especially on carpets), and a more polished app.
Great vacuum cleaner. I've had it for a few weeks now and I'm generally happy with it. I have doubts if for a little more money the Roborock S5 Max. The Dreame D9 looks better on spec but I'm still not sure. It is possible that Roborock S5 max is better with the mop. The Dreame D9 VS Roborock S5 max would be interesting.
I don't think there's a significant difference between the two on a daily basis but probably should do a mopping comparison 🤔 not sure tho as if the two perform similar there's no reason of doing so.
@@SmartRobotReviews Roborock's system exercises tank pressure on the mop (in addition to the weight of the liquid in the tank of the mop). Dreame does not seem to exert pressure on the mop. This difference could make the difference between one and the other. It is also possible that this is just marketing by Roborock. cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0258/1895/5881/t/1/assets/heros-roborock-s5-max-even-cleaning.jpg
@Toni Díaz Yes, I believe the Roborock's system is a bit better but I'm trying to say that if you run both robots every other day, you would not notice a huge difference in performance. I personally use the S6 MaxV which mopping is the same as the S5 Max and I love this thing. But I do attach the mopping pad every cleaning session. Maybe with older stains the Roborock would do better because of the better pressure
Cracking hardware but software has some challenges. Mine loses the map quite frequently but it hoovers and mops very well and is pretty quiet. Excellent navigation in general and when the map works it is flawless. Best in its price class hardware wise with a large dust bin and great carpet performance.
Never had issues with the map tbh. Noticed that the dock should be 1 meter from any other object, which should be with any robot but with the D9 it might cause map loss. Anything in particular near your charging dock?
I never tested a Dreame F9. If navigation is important for you, the Mop Pro is better but it is not good on carpets. If mopping is important the Xiaomi is better too. The F9 should be better on carpets tho has slightly worse navigation.
Due to D9 have no multimap at the moments, then i consider Ecovacs Deebot T5. Could you pls advise if i should get D9 and waiting for function opening?
How well does the D9 perform edge cleaning? I'm looking for a performance on par with the roborock s6 max and E4. My priority is good edge cleaning, as I don't want to manually clean edges after each run. I'm considering the s6 max, E4, D9 max or the Z10.
Round-shaped robot vacuums are all about the same in terms of cleaning corners. D-shaped robot vacuums like the Neato or Roomba S9 are better at cleaning corners, but they are worse at navigation in tight places because of the shape, so I would still recommend a round-shaped robot vacuum. The Dreame D9 is on par with the S6 MaxV in terms of cleaning performance, but it doesn't have a front camera like in the S6 MaxV, so it is not able to detect and avoid small objects on the floor like socks, cords, etc. The Z10 also has a front sensor, so it can avoid small objects too. These robots leave a small 5x5cm spot in the corner untouched, you don't need to clean the corners after each run. I don't remember when I last time cleaned my corners manually and still can't see any visible dust here. If the robot works at least a few times a week and your floors are relatively clean, why would any dirt be gathered in the corners? You can wipe this small spot in the corner once a month or even a few months if you notice the dust in there.
Hi natalie! Can you please confirm if the multi level update is already available? I read on one of the facebook robot pages that someone already has the update nut not tested it yet. Maybe you could check please and test? Thank you!
Hi there, yes mine just received an update. The D9 now has multifloor and can be used in a two-story house. I live in a small apartment so I can't test it but the multi maps is here.
@@SmartRobotReviews darn. I was hoping you could test that feature out. Just waiting for a proper review on the multi floor feature before pulling the trigger on the d9
What do you think about "Dream d9 PRO" in comperison with "Dream d9"? Is it "Dream d9 pro" really better, is it worth to pay "Dream d9 pro" more ? Thankss :)
The Dreame D9 Pro and Max are advanced modifications of the D9. Stronger suction, an advanced brushroll, and a different accessory kit are the main differences between the three. The D9 Max and D9 Pro have an anti-entanglement floating roller. Those two also deliver 4,000 Pa when the D9 has 3,000 Pa. Also the Dreame D9 and D9 Pro have 6 cliff sensors, the D9 Max - 4. So taking that into account, if you don't have carpets, you might not need that extra power. But if you do, I'd recommend going with the Pro.
@@SmartRobotReviews thank you for answering. Actually i already bought "dream d9 pro", i just wanted to know the difrences, although i wont have carpets i hope that i did right thing with buying "dream d9 pro". I moving in the new flat so im gonna try it there...
Hope all is well, being that you have reviewed both the Dreame D9 AND the 360 S9 I'm wondering if you can give your impressions on the hardware/robots themselves, I realize you have not reviewed it yet but the s9 is now shipping with an upgraded 2650 pa. I've heard from someone who is reading the spec sheets that the d9 compares closer to the higher end xiaomi bots like the RR S6 and the 360 bots while good are more comparable to the more entry level xiaomi bot platforms that the s50 is based on.. what say you? We are not talking about the software experience rather the hardware sensors etc...the assumption is the software will get better with updates but the hardware is what is it... (Not sure I agree with the thinking but that was the premise) right now the d9 is selling for $259 on Amazon the s9 $365... The way I see it the s9 has the ultra sonic sensor, a more integrated mopping solution better CFM and the D9 has bigger motor, and larger bin.. hardware wise, Are the machines based on different platforms? Are I missing any other specs considers hardware wise? I understand the software and customer experience is a big part of the equation bit just to understand how different these two are from each other hardware wise now that the s9 has an even larger motor and the crm number where 19 for the d9 and 24 for the s9 prior to the motor upgrade... Hardware wise can you share your thoughts with the RR s6 being the baseline/gold standard/a 10 on a 1 to 10 scale.
Hey there. I haven't tested the Dreame D9 with 360 S9 and Roborock S6 head-to-head much. From what I experienced those three are similar to the D9 being a bit cheaper but also having some flaws compared to the S9 and S6. The S9 does have good navigation, it is gentle with furniture but I wouldn't say it's too different from the way the S6 navigates. The S9 and S6 are high-end devices with the good build quality, while the D9 probably a mid-range segment even tho it is very similar to the other two. Mopping is similar between the S9 and D9. The S6 has a different kind of water tank that is not electronic and doesn't have many options on water flow. Those are different manufacturers that have different platforms but as to cleaning performance, the three are very similar. On a day-to-day basis, you wouldn't notice a significant difference. At least I didn't test them closely and can't say for sure how different they would perform on carpet.
@@SmartRobotReviews what flaws do you see with the D9 that you are not seeing with the s6 or the s9 (im going to by my mom a bot and trying to decide if the d9 is too much of a compromise...)We hate prepping the room and the s9 has been GREAT with navigating around shoes or dog toys left on the ground, the s4max just ran into stuff and is louder, the s9 NEVER bumps into things and the multi maps allows for moving furniture in the room and having various maps saved and switching between them... The App is really good, lots of features...
@@ricke95126 the D9 does not support multimap yet, and sometimes messes up the map if you place the dock very close to the wall. On a day-to-day basis you probably wouldn't notice too much of a difference but if you like the S9, go with the S9.
Both are good. The Dreame has an electronic water tank which is better if you are actually going to use mopping. Other than that both are equally good :)
@@simonschmid3746 I haven't tested the 360 S8, the Dreame D9 is a good one for the price. The Roborock S5 Max has a bit more features and in my testing did a better job with mopping. So if you don't need mopping that much, probably the Dreame D9 is a good one. For the mopping ability, the RR S5 Max
Good afternoon brother, I appreciate you hard work and thank you very much for offering us excellent reviews. Brother please suggest me which robot vacuum cleaner to buy among Xiaomi Mop p and Dreame d9 ($130 costlier than Mop p). Regards
Hi, probably the Mop P has a bit better mopping (because of its Y-mopping pattern), but I prefer the Dreame D9. The D9 has a better vacuuming performance, a larger battery, it doesn't have water leaking problems, and I've had fewer problems with it. Both use the Mi Home app, but the Dreame user interface looks more polished and stable compared to the Mop P. Also, Dreame makes new firmware updates for the D9 from time to time and adds more features to the app, while I didn't get any updates for the Mop P for more than a year already.
I don't have the F9, but I do have the Xiaomi Mijia 1C which is basically the Dreame F9, but with a weaker battery. You can find videos about the 1C on my channel. In terms of cleaning performance, the F9 and D9 are very similar, but the D9 is a bit smarter and has more accurate and efficient navigation thanks to Lidar.
My vacuum got a firmware update and its cleaning even better now. He's perfoming a grid cleaning when I select 1 or multiple rooms to clean. Edit: multi floor function added with firmware 3.5.8_1082
@@SmartRobotReviews im sorry one last question, until 300€ do you think the D9 is the best option or there is other options under this price range that could be better (just in performance, durability and convenience)?
@@SmartRobotReviews The 1c and f9 are both on sale in my country and are priced almost the same with the f9 priced about 2 dollars higher. I'm quite confused on which to choose. I've been searching for a review of the f9 that is as comprehensive as the one you did on the 1c but I haven't found any. Thanks by the way for your excellent objective reviews.
Nice hardware test but in my opinion you should have gone testing into software/app detail testing. The app is till today still crap in my opinion. Once an error occurs, there is no way to manually edit it. So you end up with ghost walls and rooms that cannot be removed. There is neither an option to just rescan single rooms nor to just delete them. you really need to remap the whole flat. So after a month of using the d9, my flat, inside the app looks like a bunch of rooms one over the other with ghost walls here and there. And this also happens very fast. Just let one door closed and the robot seems to loose his position. So it starts to redraw the map over the old one. So... i wouldn't buy the dreame d9 because of hardware fails but because of software. And the biggest issue nowadays is, you can't return a device and get your money back because of crappy software. Don't misunderstand me... your test is well made... next time please try to go more into usability and software and try to trick the device. Thank you🙂
Thank you for the feedback, I'll keep it in mind in my next videos. Regarding the ghost walls and distorted map issue, it happens only in some specific circumstances, I haven't had such an issue but have heard from other users about it. Looks like it can be fixed via firmware update, but sadly Dreame rarely releases software updates.
I don't know all models that have Y-shaped mopping pattern but can name some of them: Viomi S9 (and probably some other Viomi models), Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop P, Prosenic M8 Pro and M7 Pro, Neabot NoMo.
My opinion is that the Roborock S5 Max is a better mop and more convenient to use. The Dreame's water tank has some issues with a vacuum which leads to not letting water out as it mops. The Roborock has a water proof mat so it's safer for your floors. It also has an option of setting different levels of suction and water output for each room. But probably if you are not going to use mopping as much and just need a robot that would clean your place twice a week there is no reason to pay more for the Roborock.
