Alright, for anyone who thinks death is not a villain and is just doing his job, I’ll give a little explanation: By dictionary definition a villain is: “(in a film, novel, or play) a character whose evil actions or motives are important to the plot.” Looking at the movie after learning this information we see that we have two main “bad guys” in the movie, Jack Horner and Death But which were we introduced to first? Death Also looking at the entire movie we see that the only reason everything took place was because of death, If death decided to not hunt down puss, Puss would have most likely gone on to die in battle, as he would never retire, go to mama Luna’s, meet the three bears and learn about the wishing Star, and then journey to the wishing Star. Death is the only reason the entire movie happened Which by definition makes him the main antagonist. Now there are two types of main antagonist, bad guy and villain. The difference between the two is that a bad guy has everything done for them and has trouble beating the protagonist for stupid reasons, while a villain does everything just because they can, to get a kick out of it, no remorse for who they hurt or what they do, they only lose to the protagonist because the protagonist grows, changes, gets better about themselves.
@@obolisk0430 I don't know man, prolonging Puss death by mentally torture him with fear and make him intentionally have panic attacks sounds pretty evil to me. If Death was not evil, he would just kill Puss instantly or talk Puss out of wasting his lifes.
Bro, he literally was actively tormenting Puss, wanted to take his last life EARLY, and one of Puss’ past lives even points out it’s cheating. HE. IS. A. VILLAIN.
@@tnetopinmoetulosba He was convinced by Puss that he had changed and was willing to value his current life. Death was more than willing to kill Puss before that point. Villains have had changes of heart or let heroes live before, Death is not special in this case.
Really? I thought It was slaughtering his parents by using fireworks... And *THEN* trying to commit mass genocide of furries which I voted anonymously on with the council of men...
Disney: How so oh everybody remembers the classics scar, maleficent, Evil queen DreamWorks: yeah but you lost the magic. you had good villains and we have good villains.
@@casualdinofan1953 Old disney villains were so much better than new disney villains. Till this day, Frollo is still the best disney villain and one of the best animated villains in general imo.
Dreamworks is that type of studio that mostly just makes funny villains but also can casually drop the most badass and pure evil incarnate type of villains if they want to.
@spen or a mix: HTTYD and Kung Fu Panda had many funny moments but the core message of each movie is surprisingly more mature. That's why they stand as two of the best family movie trilogies out there imo
He holds himself with great self-respect, and when he talks to you, he feels dangerous. He might not be the strongest, but he is unnerving in how he seems like he has already won. In the opposite, that Snow Leopard jokes with his opponents, mocks them, but also shows respect to them. He is also introduced after he has already been defeated once, so you know he can be defeated. Yes, we all know the bad guy loses in the end in these stories, if Tai Lung had only been repelled and was waiting for the chance to strike again, he would be a lot more threatening. He was shown to have been defeated once already, which takes away the "hiding in the shadows" vibe.
Was there an order I thought he was just showing them and that peacock was argueably more intimidating at the time he was known to be the one who wiped out the pandas along with the first to utilize the phrase "put a cap in his ass"
@@MadRaptorGamingI mean you could also spin it in the opposite way yes said snow leopard was defeated once, but it took literally the strongest martial arts turtle to use magic to subdue him Also the peacock's intimidation factor wanes at times especially when the goat messes with him
I agree, the best creation u can ever have in a century, he is a mix of purity of evil, humor, sarcasm, wisdom, hand to hand combat, manipulative element and a conqueror.
Only Dreamworks can make a peacock became the most intimidating villain. Genocide, overthrowing leadership, mass destruction weapon. Dude is pure terror.
Shen was the most terrifying one, he is human-like since he only desires for is to continue for being an broken-evil, he resembles today's Serial killers who likes to continue killing even after the release for them..
@@subhasishghosh6924Not really. He is an unmotivated killer. He had motivation at one point. And he has no reason anymore except he finds pleasure in death. He exactly resembles the twisted nature of humans that kill for sport, aka serial killers.
@@JONATHANJONESVII No, not even close. Shen is someone who is unmotivated because he knows how much in the wrong he has been his whole life, he knows how far beyond redemption he is and that turning back will just mean all the lives he's taken will go in vain. Shen takes no pleasure in killing, in fact the film shows that he doesn't resort to it unless if it's unavoidable. It's only the second act when he lets his madness consume him for good until again in the absolute final scene where he confronts Po.
@@subhasishghosh6924 Shen absolutly takes pleasure in killing. Does he seek out people to kill? No. But he doesnt care who dies and he appears to take great pleasure killing the old master at the palace. I think we are both right to some regard here, but I personaly think shen has no conscience. Fits better with the movie in my opinion.
@@JONATHANJONESVII the writers of KFP2 said Shen doesn't want to kill anymore but he's got no choice left in his own conscience. Shen kills Rhino but lets Ox and Croc even though they could very well become a problem in the coming future. Rhino was too powerful for Shen to fight so he had to eliminate him.
Not really. Most of the 'bad guys' of DreamWorks are shown to be bad (or at least show big red flags)from the beginning/ fair early on in their appearance in the movie, with it being revealed to the heroes later. While twist villains are only revealed to everyone at the end to be behind everything all along.
Still can't get over the fact that they not only got Gary Oldman to voice a peacock, but made him freaking terrifying and one of the best villain ever put on film
Also he breaks natures rule by trying to kill someone. He knows that Puss still has one life, yet he tries to kill him. He doesnt do it because its his job, he wants to kill him even though he shouldn't.
What I love the most about DreamWorks is that they don't need to hide their villains behind a cheap plot twist... They just let them shine as much as possible as is
Especially (I forget his name💀) the Kung Fu Panda 2 villain! My guy committed panda genocide. Still feel as he's the darkest villain I've seen in an animated film..it stuck with me since I was a child.. I'm an adult now..
Little late but Kai kinda sucked. Shen and Tai lung were amazing but Kai just wasn't really that special. Nothing about him stood out and really made him as memorable as the other 2. He's one of the many reasons I consider kung-fu panda 3 is a stain on the franchise
Tai Lung gotta be one of my favourite villains from dreamworks. The entire scene of how he escaped prison with his bare hands, he's just so fucking badass.
@@cloudshifter I'd argue that the HTTYD series was absolutely phenomenal. For personal preferences, I'd choose HTTYD over KFP but in reality they're really on par. KFP has such an amazing trilogy and compelling villains, and HTTYD has a fantastic storyline and the soundtrack is just incredible. Dreamworks has literally the best animated movies.
Shen is just too good of a villain, his design is absolutely a S+ tier, a albino peacock with red spots, his intelligence and skill also made him even more badass, and he felt like a real villain not a made up one with powers, but a real person who was simply a tyrant
Yeah, and his first crime (which can be technically considered a war crime, since he waged war on the Panda Villages) is FUCKING GENOCIDE! Like, no one matched that level of violence in their first crime.
Straight up shen is a fucking GOAT. Buddy rolled up on master rhino and buddy said "your king fu is no match for mine" and shen responds with "oh I agree.....but I think this might be......" and BLOWS THIS MF TO KINGDOM KOM 🥶🥶🥶
He's definitely a comedy take on the no heart and unreasonable type of villain. Death is their take on a force of nature type of villain, an "inevitable" type of villain if you will. Shen is their take on real life villains, the people who aren't empty inside, they're just full of evil and real hate. They're the type who commit genocides like shen did. Tai Lung is their take on vengeful, prideful villainy.
Shen had one of the coldest villain Intros ever. He walks up, murders 6 dudes off the rip. Beats master croc and master bull's *asses* and then blows master rhino to smithereens with his cannon. Tai Lung too.
Tai Lung is hands down one of if not the coolest villain to appear in a kids movie. His action scenes were badass as hell, plus his voice actor was great, delivered everything each line so well. I love how everytime he was in a fight, he'd yell and grunt with each strike. Really sold how much anger he harbored imo
Honestly, in my opinion he’s not because I haven’t watched the movie and probably never will but my sister will. I think Jack is the best villain. He doesn’t care about life and did say he was dead inside, don’t take this personal ;’/ I am not a huge kung fu panda fan
@@OneHelluva_edit it has been taken personally, you better watch it, or you will suffer in only being able to watch Disney movies, and not even getting to watch the old ones, only the newest ones, mwahahshaha.
@@OneHelluva_edit it's definitely worth a watch! the whole trilogy is. he was a really interesting villain because his whole story came down to just wanting to prove himself. It was a very classic villain story but written very well
The bad guys in dream work eyes are people who do stuff on purpose but in dream works eyes a villians should people who have a sad and heart breaking back story which led them to what they are today
@@hansFem-cw6gp Plus, they only put the lgbt friendly content in the background so it can easily be edited out for russia and china Absolutely spineless, I'd prefer they just pick a side for once
The difference is the bad guys are there for us to laugh at and call dumb, the villains can legit send shivers down our spines and make us rethink everything
I know why. And its stupid that people make such assumtions. Its like executing someone just because he just liked you and not loved you. Looking at you Ivan the Terribale.
Fun fact: The villains in Kung Fu Panda are physical embodiments of crucial types of strengths/forces Tai Lung: Brute force Lord Shen: Mental force Kai: Spiritual force
@@LePetitArtiste09 oh yeah and he also used his brain for a lot of the things he did, cuz he wasn't all strength or spirit, he had to rely on his intelligence the most
As a someone who’s put a lot of time into studying film and even taking college film classes. kung fu panda 2 is genuinely one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
Death is sort of considered a villain. He’d be an antagonist if he were simply doing his job, however he made things personal against puss and actively sought him out even in moments puss wasn’t about to die, thus he is a villain and a crazy good one at that.
@@thekingnerd6639 he's charming enough to convince people to work for him, remain loyal, remain afraid, remain intimidated. His charisma is strong because of the way he speaks
I actually like how the villains from the httyd movies take inspiration from the villains and ideas of the first three books, as well as a little from some of the other nine, even though the movies and the books are very different.
@@ominousintrusivethoughts3947 I meant he ,the second movie villain, should have been the the third movie's villian instead of the second movie's one since I think he fits more with the message
@@ominousintrusivethoughts3947 I know Drago dies (I couldn't remember hisname so thx!) but I just feel he would've fit more in the message of the 3rd movie since he had enslaved an entire dragon army and that was before he he met hiccup
@NightFeather the NightFury true, but did he also get taken under by his big dragon, that's gonna do some damage especially when you're already injured putting aside the one arm
@@jitendrapawaskar3791Eh, he’s not actually doing his job at all in The Last Wish, something to remember is that Puss is still alive (something the cat himself says) and that Death has decided to kill Puss personally since he’s wasted all of his other lives But that’s not what Death is supposed to do, he’s supposed to wait for each soul to die, no matter how frivolous they were with their life, or lives in Puss’ case
