Besides the idea of something not seen before, I don't think they couldn't done a better replacement for the claw. I think we're gonna be surprised how much it'll dominate the skyline with it being larger than Steel Taipan and Gold Coaster, and If Dreamworld can focus its marketing on how much bigger and scarier this is, I reckon it'll be a good success and no doubt a worthy replacement.

It would have been better if they could have introduced a version which swings 360° and runs two ride cycles - non-inverting swing and inverting swing - giving Dreamworld essentially two new rides for the price of one like Dragon Slayer. The Claw scares the pants off me every time and King Claw probably doubly so!

I'm still hoping they bring back the wipeout but I guess that will just have to remain a childhood memory

Honestly, I prefer this. The Claw has been a favourite of mine since I was a kid. If it must be replaced, a similar ish ride is the way to go.

Though I have so many fond memories of the Claw and I'm sad to see it go... I have always hated the restraints with a passion! Not female-friendly! 😅

Replacing it with bigger and better is the best move. The Claw is too iconic. All other rides except the giant drop (and the wipeout RIP) can be replaced with something new, but the icons should stay.

they should've made it an invert pendulum

Do you think The Claw is going to be bought by another park and is it going to be Gumbaya World?

Hard to think Gumbaya will want it when they've got Rebel - but who knows really!

I think it’s unlikely, since Dreamworld stated its past the end of its service life

@@MaloneysCoasters It cant be all that well made if it can handle only 20 years especially when there are many old wooden coasters still operating around the world!!

@@crazenby1 That’s a misrepresentation. The 2004 Gyro Swing would be past its service life because Intamin have produced multiple new models of the Gyro Swing in the 20 years since, making spare parts more expensive. The phrase “past its service life” means Intamin no longer directly offers support for this model, making maintaining the ride too expensive to justify for the park since any new parts would have to be fabricated from scratch. There’s nothing wrong with the ride - if there was, they wouldn’t be keeping it open until the end of the summer. Wooden coasters often don’t face this issue because their parts are much more simple - structurally, they are just timber, and the non-timber components are fairly applicable to all wooden coasters regardless of model. This is why wooden coasters from defunct manufacturers such as CCI or the early coaster designers have been kept in operation by fabricating parts through another manufacturer or a third party This can also be done for steel coasters and rides like the Gyro Swing, but the risks of unlicensed spare parts from another manufacturer, or the cost of commissioning custom parts from Intamin, and the cost of paying for their fabrication, is probably not as viable in the long-term as paying for a new Gyro Swing and getting another 20-30 years of direct manufacturer support It’s sort of like when a version of Windows is no longer supported by Microsoft. You could keep running it, there’s nothing stopping you, but if you face any problems, you have to find a technician yourself who knows the old version and can help you, and pay them to fix it, which could be expensive. It can be a wiser investment to upgrade so that you can continue to get direct support from Microsoft. Same thing but with rides
