As you build your cabinets, you might think about pulled-out shelves, especially for the lower ones. My dad did that for my mom. I asked him, “Why!” He said, “When you get older, it gets harder to bend down.” He was so right. It was mom’s forever home and she loved it up to the day she passed. Dad still lives there and he hasn’t changed anything. My husband had some done for me. Love mine! Also not wasting any space, think about making corner cabinets to use that space for spices and sauces. Use a Lazy Susan for those hard to reach places. Just some ideas.
@@debbiepunnachet355 I agree! I'm 66, when I see upper cabinets disappear in renovations, I wonder! Luckily I have enough uppers that I hardly need to use the bottom cupboards and save myself the pain of getting back up again! 😊
@@Nancy-zk9dj, it looks like we had similar upbringing and I’m going to be 66 this year. I tell you, my body maybe getting older but my memories are not fading at all. I was born and grew up in the state of Indiana. But I live in Thailand now.
Put all your warranties, instructions, etc in a binder. A friend bought a newly constructed house and the contractor had all that in an organized binder. Very impressive.
LOVE your precious son in your video. So great that your teaching him skills talking to the camera. Who knows, future RU-vid star? Your pantry is exactly how I would have done it. !
You must be on cloud nine. Plus, you should be proud, look at what you’ve accomplished !!! You’re an extra original, one of a kind. Being proud is a small word. There’re must be a better word to describe you, you’re ethics, compassion, just everything in general. You’re amazing Elysia. GOD Bless you and your family. 🥰❤️
I love you are teaching your Son! The ability to do things yourself is a true gift. What a good idea to use shelve liner on the cupboards. Something tells me, if it was the worst idea in the world, you would have tried to make it work. How sweet ❤️
Dayton is simply adorable!!! Mother/son projects are remembered for a lifetime! His idea for lining the shelves is fantastic because of continuity of design and ease of cleaning. The marble print not matching is no problem since houses like yours were added to over decades and finishes wouldn't be the exact match.🤟 lovely cabinet.
I think this baking pantry has to be my favorite piece so far....although I love it all, I know how handy it is to have a baking pantry, I just wish I had some drawers that were that deep. All the drawers in my kitchen are shallow. I was born & raised in Canada and I've been in the states now for 65 years, but while living in Hamilton, I loved Eaton's. It was my second favorite store. First favorite was Zellars because as a teen I could afford to shop there using my babysitting money. Thanks for sharing the reno, I know it is a lot of work to video it. Y'all have a Blessed day.
You guys are so wonderful! I love that the boys are included in the work. It's teaching them useful life skills. Thank All of you for sharing your lives with all of us. Really appreciate it!
The pantry is beautiful. Your children are going to be so grateful for the amazing childhood you gave them. Thank you for being a shining example of what a family and parenting should look like. Well done Elysia & Phillip! 🥰❤️🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm soooo glad that you took the time and effort to restore that beautiful built-in cabinet! Btw, the interior wood is beadboard, which was a very popular choice for kitchens and bathrooms back in the day. (Shiplap boards are much wider.) I didn't see your pretty blue velvet drapes in the living room. I hope you just took them down to keep them from getting full of construction dust. I look forward to seeing the cabinet once all of your supplies are inside. Blessings!❤
My grandma’s heart melted at your sons helpful nature and his delight in having an idea that you liked❤️. Great job on the results, lived the gold accents too! Thanks for sharing!
Shel height suiting your needs is really important. You’re wise to do that before you go further with the kitchen. Your happiness will be Immediate. 💕❤️💕
Elysia the Pantry looks fantastic! Nothing like a coat of fresh white paint and some great contact paper to up-date and pretty up your pantry! Great work team!!! xxxx
Hi English family! Boy, things are really moving along! Im so glad you chose the oops rug for the kitchen. LOVE IT. The pantry is so beautiful. I really love the gold accents with the clean white paint. So lush looking. You really can do it all, cant you…💜🙂
It's wonderful to see your children helping you do this they will take much better care of the kitchen because they had a part of it. I feel your patience teaching them things that we already know you have much more patience than me! It's just wonderful to watch. 🙏🙌💕💯
This pantry cabinet is beautiful. The counter tops are going to look great. Marble has actually a variety of veining in homes I have seen it in (sometimes in the same room). The gold hardware is a nice touch. 🤟
I so enjoy watching the two of you work together. You are so respectful of each other. Wonderful job on the cabinet. I like to see things being rescued. Too much waste in this world. It is so much fun and interesting watching the renovation of your lovely home.
You look amazing! And you really just showed us how important it is and worthwhile to take the time do something the RIGHT WAY! As always, GREAT JOB GUYS! And Dayton did such great work!!
It turned out so pretty! Love how you are always patient and kind when teaching, what you do so well, to the boys. You and Phillip are giving them a gift that will stay with them forever. What a great example to all parents you are. Looking forward to each new post. It’s all looking so good. Hugs from Oklahoma.
I would of used a cute wall paper in the drawers with mustard yellow from the rug or the Nova Scotia red that you love for some hidden pops of color. But having everything crisp and clean is always welcome in a kitchen. It's so nice to have a team of helpers, you and family are rocking that old house . 🇺🇸❤❤❤🇨🇦
Elyshia, the baking pantry is BRAVO !!! You outdid yourself. Be very proud of your accomplishment. The liner paper makes the inside look so designer. Once the kitchen re-do is complete you will be so thrilled with the overall look. 🥰 Thank you for including us in all the ups and downs. Hugs💞
As usual, you guys had me sitting on the edge of my chair in the beginning. I love your decisions and Dayton great help and surprise. I was taught by my mother as well to cover the bottom of drawers and shelves. It is not only easy to clean. But if something stains it, all you need to do is change it. A binder is great for warranties, manuals, certificates, contractors, invoices, repairs and phone numbers. Every room that was renovated has a drawing of where each item was placed a long with a picture of the items. We also put the pictures and drawings in the binder with swatches of all colors. We took everything and copied it on the computer with bar codes. My husband wanted to be thorough. I can’t tell you how many times this has helped us. We have extra of colors, tiles, wood and wallpaper together. It just helps to have it organized. The boys are learning from you and what a beautiful blessing they are. Keep up the Great Work!
Such a difference,,,really pretty, love the gold hardware against the freshly painted wood,,beautiful! And also stealing the binder idea for the warranties and appliance manuals, perfect!
Oh wow, Elysia! You really did a great job. So much fun to see Dayton helping you and learning what to do in his own home. I love watching you and Phil train the boys. Yes, it is a dream pantry taking the time to size the shelves to fit your appliances and the lining was such a good addition!!! Lime 💚 green. Lol White is clean looking♥️🎉
You knew you would have to be nit picky about specific items when you bought the house. You (both) are turning antiquated into lived in your own way! The designs you choose work because you deal with everything to make it home worthy! I just love each detail you pay attention too! (Prior Military) we lived in many houses...I tried my best for 2-4 yrs to make certain rooms have that home worthy feel. Nodding! I feel blessed that you are taking me on this journey with you! Thank you so much!! It is not the dollar amount that goes into specific items...its how it is framed...& I really like your framing from room to room! I am smiling because you are so blessed to have your boys around, your Hubby around & you are living a very rich life! Keep on going & smiling & doing! Have an awesome day! :) Two thumbs up!!!
Love your drawer bottom covers! That Rust-Oleum gold really does a beautiful job with just the first spray! Thank you for all I am learning by watching your channel.👍👍🇨🇦🇺🇲
Love it it looks sooo gorgeous. Defo a great idea to use the covering. It will look even better when you get your cricut out to label and fancy it up lol
Hi Alysa and Philip Your pantry looks amazing. Love the gold handles and hardware. I have that same faux marble paper in my drawers. So clean looking. Great job. Leta
This baking pantry looks so beautiful and clean looking. I know it’s a lot of but results are worth it. I’ve done a lot of this kinda hard work. I’ve stripped furniture cupboards, floors, and extra. We live in my husband’s home and it’s a log house built in 1850w. Log in the floors and ceiling’s them, the back was an additional from 1915. Love ❤️ what you two are doing. Thanks for sharing 🙏. Love ❤️ from Ontario Canada.
I love your baking pantry but I really enjoyed watching your son & you working together....there's not many kids that would work with their parents much less moms.... LOVED IT!!!
I love the baking hutch/cabinet. I used to live in an old house that had a built in cabinet like that, my favorite thing from that house. Yours is so beautiful!!!
Elysia, it looks fabulous! That was very fiddly work, too, working inside those cupboards. Totally worth it. It's so fun to see how excited you are about this built-in. I love it, too! I have always loved built-ins like this. Great work!! ♥♥♥
Beautiful corner cupboard You can use candle wax rubbing on sides of drawers They will pull in and put easier and Ivory soap bars do the same trick Have a blessed week.
What a beautiful makeover. I’m kind of jealous 😉❤️as I bake a lot and would love a station like this. Cool effect on the video when you and your son were working on the drawers.
Best wishes on your Noom adventure!! The pantry cabinet looks wonderful and worth all the effort you put into bringing it back to life. To keep your drawers running open and closed smoothly, the candle wax is a great idea and so is running a bar of soap along those edges. I love that Dayton helped you and came up with a slick and ‘cohesive’ 😊 liner idea! 👍🏻. I have the same KitchenAid mixer in black as you have and I love it! So I was tickled when I saw yours and saw that you were mindful of making the room it needed to go in and out without damage. Plus it’s a nice showpiece item! I am anxious for the day that this is all a completed project and we get to see you enjoying all the fruits of your labor!
It turned out great 👍 You must be so excited to stage it when the kitchen is completed. Dayton did a good job helping you. ❤️ Your boys are going to be so handy when they grow up❤️❤️
You and your husband amaze me. You're both so talented and hard working and such loving parents. I've been watching for over a year and I love everything you have ever done bc you're so creative. I think the countertops will be fine...no need to return or sell any.
She sure does a great job! The wall inside her pantry is not Shiplap. Is is original Bead Board. Love that they are including the kids Giving the kids great memories!!!
Love the cabinet with the glass doors and gold accents. It looks as if the bead board has opening between the boards, I could be wrong, but that's how it looks to me. Suggestion, the cabinet looks as if it could use some caulking, but turned out great. I apologize, if I am incorrect.
My goodness, the pantry cabinet looks so good. My church brother made me a pantry cabinet out of pickit fencing. You gave me a good idea. Am going to cover the shelf for easy cleaning. Thank you for the idea. Have a blessed day!
