I have spent YEARS piecing together information about Qing ladies' lifestyle and fashion, so I really appreciate your well-informed presentation! I look forward to seeing more from your channel! Maybe you could cover some earlier Qing years ❤

You're doing god's work. I'm (diaspora) Chinese and my grasp of written Chinese isn't quite up to the level of being able to research this myself. Nevermind primary sources, I'd struggle to get through an academic paper. This kind of video is a huge help.

This video is a godsend. As a casual writer I've been looking for any information about Qing dynasty women's clothing. My setting is 1880s American West; I have a character who while not born in the US, had spent most of her life there. I'm wondering now if it was possible that there was some mixing of Western clothing with the traditional.

Thank you for sharing this information! The shoe soles were of particular interest to me, because I would like to make my own shoes and this is a design I had not closely encountered before.

Same except I like the shoe with the triangle shape sole the concubines wore. I’d love to know how those are made so I can make my own.

Very interesting. I had to turn the sound off because the added music was too intrusive.

Love this style of clothing. There are such beautiful patterns to be found. Too bad most fashion these days is bland.

Great video. What is the name/type of the last dress that was shown in that photograph at the end. It’s like a chenyi cheongsam they use that dress type in a palace drama show(如懿传) and I would like to find out the proper name.

Cheongsam is one name (more Cantonese origin), in Mandarin the more modern term you're looking for might be qipao.

The top portion of the clothes looked too baggy & cumbersome for modern wear and caused the beautiful mamian skirt to get hidden. Hope modern Chinese can come up with a solution to make the top more practical & feasible for modern wear
