DRESSING RULES EVERYONE SHOULD LEARN FOR FALL / AUTUMN: Today I'm sharing dressing rules everyone should learn for fall. These dressing rules are easy to follow tips that can help you feel amazing every day. Plus, they're things that can help enhance your style as you find what makes you unique. Thanks so much for watching! xx Audrey
THE TRENDS I'VE ADDED TO MY WARDROBE:
Longer Jeans: bit.ly/356eWEp sold out, but similar here bit.ly/35nvAzF here bit.ly/344ruwF (they say low rise but the measurements are closer to a high rise) here bit.ly/2HbItEk and here bit.ly/3lWDoPs
Chunky Boots: bit.ly/3k8eADF
SOME OF THE OTHER ITEMS STYLED THROUGHOUT:
Flat, Black Chelsea Boots: Crockett & Jones, bought last year at the Paris flagship took my usual size 37 bit.ly/347KRVO
Tall Brown Heeled Boots: Salvatore Ferragamo, bought on eBay brand new, in the box over 7 years ago. I highly recommend checking eBay and Poshmark for new shoes that have never been worn at a fraction of their usual retail price
Brown Lace-Up Ankle Boots: Thursday Boots bit.ly/31eE5vC
Black Lace-Up Ankle Boots: Christy Dawn bit.ly/31iRZNc I took my usual boot size 7
Brown Chelsea Boots: Cole Haan from many years ago and sadly no longer available. I've noticed the quality of Cole Haan has gone down in recent years but these are similar and have great construction with stitched, waterproof soles bit.ly/3k92U3q (reviews say they run large & you should size down a full size)
White Sundress: Doen, old
Black Straight Leg Jeans: Agolde bit.ly/31dm8gM I always size down in Agolde and I've had mine for over a year and they still look and feel brand new
Plaid Coat: Thrifted a few years ago and tailored to fit
Oversized Grey Cashmere Sweater: The Curated *gifted bit.ly/2HexKcp (size down. I'm 5'3" and petite and I'm wearing XS and it's oversized)
Black Suede Sock Booties: Aquatalia, old but similar here bit.ly/3o3skSv
Chunky White & Black Hoops: Banana Republic, sold out
Black turtleneck: old but you can find these everywhere
Chunky Gold Earrings: Thrifted a few years ago
White Ruffle Collar Shirt: Doen bit.ly/3k3BGeq
Dark Wash Straight Leg Jeans: Mott & Bow bit.ly/37ibBoC *gifted I had them shortened slightly to give me the ankle crop
Beige Lace-Up Ankle Boots: Jonak
Floral Burgundy Print Shirt: Doen bit.ly/37harcI
Burgundy Coat: Thrifted
Cropped Pale Blue Sweater: Pure Collection bit.ly/3dDu0go this is cropped but on me it's a little longer than waist length because I have a really short torso
Large, Printed Scarf: Sabina Savage bit.ly/3jbqZFk *gifted but I have purchased my own Sabina Savage scarf in the past and they're complete works of art and so so beautiful, I highly recommend
Faux Croc Embossed Belt: Vintage, purchased a few years ago
Long, Mother of Pearl Locket: Monica Rich Kosann bit.ly/3458G0c *so generously gifted after being on my wish list for years
Pale Blue Cardigan: Pure Collection bit.ly/37gxWmo this is also cropped but on me it's a little longer than waist length because I have a really short torso
Long Silk Skirt: Maggie Wu Studio *gifted last year and no longer available
Long Sleeve Ruffle Shirt: Sezane from last year, no longer available but similar here bit.ly/2T5LjgY
White Pants: Everlane, purchased a few years ago bit.ly/37io9MG
Large Printed Scarf: Sabina Savage, purchased a few years ago and no longer available
Dark Green Beret: Vintage
*FOR REFERENCE: I’m 5’3” or 160cm & my measurements are bust: 26x36 inches I typically wear xxs-xs in tops, waist: 25-26 inches typically a 24-25 in jeans and a 0-2 in pants, 37” hips. Weight: typically 105-110 lbs

Also, a gentle reminder for those who live in truly northern places. Keeping yourself warm, dry and comfortable comes first! These videos are inspiring and a pleasure to watch, but let's not try and fool ourselves about our living situation (I've previously done that and it wasn't pretty🤗). If you need snow boots or raincoats and wellies, get them! Style and beauty be dammed!😁😁

True. I’ve had to consider that even though Audrey’s outfits are beautiful, I could not wear some of them where I live, especially those heels in midfall...it will be snowing here within a couple of weeks!

It's true but you can still be cute and colorful all bundled up. I've been really working on my winter style the last few years and have a lot fun with layering a wool cocoon coat over denim jacket, leather or a vest. Colorful blanket scarves and beanies. Waterproof heeled boots with a lug sole are great. This year I'm experimenting with bright orange nail polish and sunglasses with colored lenses because it does get depressing wearing dark monochromatic looks the whole long winter.

@@sononi4798 I agree with that. I love my patterned scarves and I try to match my scarves to my beanies. I also got my winter jacket in a dark purple, because I love purple and if I have to wear something everyday it needs to be in my favourite colour!

@@sononi4798 absolutely! Color is our best friend, because we lose the different designs and cuts, because we wrap all our skin in layers and layers of clothes. Also, yes to bright colorful nail polish - I refuse to make it just for the summer thing😁

I agree, it gets pretty cold and dirty here in New England in the Winter and early Spring, too. I just went to TJ Max and bought a white colored short puffer Parker, just to brighten up things beyond black/navy. We'll see how that goes this winter. The woman at the register said, You must be very neat to buy white for the Winter. That made me laugh.

Agreed. Fall lasted about 5 minutes (hyperbole) in Northwestern Ontario. Not just sub-zero temperatures but sleet/snow/ice and wind conditions would be helpful. Dressing like fall with winter conditions is a unicorn moment when achieved lol.

I grew up in Spain and no one sends their knitwear to the dry cleaners. We always washed our sweaters at home. Besides being more economical, washing at home makes your knitwear feel softer and smell so much better.

I live in the USA. I used to avoid any fashion item that had the care instruction ‘Dry Clean Only’ simply because I could not afford the charges. I realized I could hand wash in a mild cleaning agent (usually Woolite), with wonderful results, while also being far less expensive. I have a difficult time with the ‘dry cleaning’ chemical odor. While I hand launder most items, and also use the ‘delicates’ cycles on my Electrolux washer & dryer, there are a few that must be dry cleaned, such as tailored blazers, coats, and slacks. When I bring these items home from being dry cleaned, I hang them outside, or in a well-ventilated room, before placing them in my closet.

Underwear should be washed at 60 degrees, but I haven't really done that myself either since it's more convenient to wash them with other clothes. But you should wash them in higher temperature, I need to start doing that.

I have been looking at the French dressing options. You dress very much in the French style. These are very fundamental pieces with just a little bit of oomph, a sweater with special patterns in it, a shirt with some buttons or lace in it, a beautiful pattern of top or dress, There is something that makes the piece unusual and not plane. Simple boots or ballet slippers or a simple heel and lots of blazers and a little special accessory that completes the outfit. It's a simple look that looks easy but is well thought out and put together. They tuck their sweaters into their pants or skirts which is something I had not considered. Even wearing the buttons in the back is a trick the French girls do. It's playing into your own personal style and wearing what you enjoy. I love your beautiful colorful coat and your boots. I love you in light colors. It reminds me of the video that you had your body typing done where the stylist put you into light colors. That's you!
@raraavis7782

And let's also add s gentle reminder, that even the best quality shoes/boots need CARE, to hold up to frequent wear and being exposed to the elements. Invest in good quality care products and make the effort, to use them frequently.

Very useful. Keep things looking brand new season after season year after year. I feel that garments were made very well during my Grandmothers and Mother’s time... sweaters and shawls still look and feel lovely.. and now I feel men’s department items are still much better made than women’s.

@snehatitus8994

And its not just women’s clothing... if we want quality items we have to either wait for sales without many options of sizing left or pay through the nose to buy any item. Its the same for footwear, handbags and accessories. Clarks were the shoes my Dad would buy for daily shoes. That aas when Clarks were still made in England. Excellent craftmanship. They would last him years and he would wear them all days through the year. Now its made elsewhere at literally the same cost thate we are paying and does not even last a year.

I always like to wear unexpected colors in the fall/winter. I love white and pastels in Winter, and darker colors in Summer! Boots are a necessity here in MA, so the stylish boots can mostly be worn in the Fall, as once snow is on the ground, a waterproof, warm boot is the only way to go!

80% of my clothes are thrifted and I am not ready to spend more on dry cleaning that they costed me. Early on I have washed my clothes myself, I even go further I washed my cashmere sweaters, even dress pants and blazers in cold water, quick cycle in my washing machine!!! I never had any bad surprise so far! I really like thrifting to find the season's trends at low cost. My only concern is not going overboard and buy too many items because they are cheap! I still try to have a well thought out and curated wardrobe where all my pieces go together......

I had an issue with the fibers in my cashmere sweaters looking too “fluffy” when I hand washed or machine washed them. They didn’t lay down as flatly as when they were dry cleaned. I have stopped buying them due to that, and also discovered I was having a reaction to the dry cleaning chemicals. How are you avoiding the fiber issue? I would love to know!
@janicevin4207

@@luvslyfe1 That is not a problem for me. All come out just the same unless they were of a lesser quality to begin with: not all cashmere are of good quality. And of course I don't use the dryer but let them air dry. I have to say that I live in Canada and I found the washing machines not very powerful in comparison to the ones in France for instance.

Glad to see color ❤️❤️❤️ in your wardrobe 😊👍 There are so many beautiful shades of red 😃 and I love mixing it with grey and navy. In colder months/ climate you can add some color with a scarf 🧣 and 🧤

Thank you Audrey as usual great content. Wanted to say I really loved your video about interchanging shoes to create a different look. I think it released me for from thinking that you need a certain kind of shoe for a certain silhouette.

I love the outfits you style and the tips - I just wish I could wear them somewhere. I also appreciate the encouragement to “dry clean” at home! I’m wondering if you could make a video on relaxed outfits to wear at home. I am no comfortable in dresses or restructuring fabrics (except jeans).

Omgosh I love your outfits in this video out of all of them so far! I feel like your style is evolving to a little more “fresh and young” (maybe it’s jut the videos I’ve seen) but I am here for it and you look amazing and have great ideas! Thanks
