Ben...you need to understand...Dressta was a joint venture between Dresser and Komatsu back in the 90s...But, in 2014, at CONEXPO, Dressta was sold to Liugong. It needs to be further articulated, that Luigong made its fame forming joint ventures in the early 2000s with the biggest of manufacturers, and then literally stealing their technology and putting their own components into machines...as in the case of their loaders, which are various "G" series Cat loaders, with Cummins and ZF axle, transmissions, etc. Now, as is the case with Dressta, A joint venture between Komatsu and luigong, where they partnered early and then shut Komatsu out...in essence, stealing more tech --- but that is their whole M.O....the Chinese do not build the best of anything, they go, form really big joint ventures, literally copying the design of others, and make it themselves --- that's why you see the comments you have.

@Jeff Schwab To be honest yes CAT is over priced and Deere doesn’t last. Just speaking from experience. We don’t own a dozer so we usually rent and last few times we have rented Komatsu because everyone likes the Komatsu over the Deere or CAT.

On big Ag equipment, the bottom steps are foldable/retractable to avoid being ripped off during the first muddy day. You get on the equipment, fold the steps, get to work. At least the blue on the steps will make 'em easy to find in the dirt when they get forcibly removed by a rock.

Now, as is the case with Dressta, A joint venture between Komatsu and luigong, where they partnered early and then shut Komatsu out...in essence, stealing more tech --- but that is their whole M.O....the Chinese do not build the best of anything, they go, form really big joint ventures, literally copying the design of others, and make it themselves --- that's why you see the comments you have...then they eliminate the joint venture, thereby not honoring their commitments --- and this has happened over and over and over again.

No experience in using dozers myself but compared to standard design seems a very neat, thinking outside the box clever redesign. Hope they can maintain some interchangeability of parts with standard dozers regarding running costs and not needing a separate parts store specific for this new design.

Actually, you are mistaken...Euclid did it before Terex...in the 50s and 60s...then Terex in the 60s, 70s and 80s...the last Terex dozer produced in 1993 just before the 1993 ConExpo. It was a unique design...however, as good of the positives...the drawback far outweigh --- when pointed upward in either a push or pull mode, the heat does not leave the machine well. We owned several Terex dozers. Another downside, the noise component...and the accompanied melted snow that refreezes in a snowy environment...these machines look well though out, unfortunately, to the trained eye, they are not.

so the tracks get dirty and then get clean... it happens 100 times a day running a dozer... ive never fallen off a track climbing on or off a dozer... but putting a step behind the track will guarantee that it is always going to be dirty... its in the prime spot to catch all dirt and mud coming off the back of the track while moving forward or reverse... only thing is that it doesn't self clean like the tracks do... we run lots of different tractors and all that have steps around tires are always covered in dirt or mud... its a daily thing to clean the steps to get in the tractor and they are usually covered in mud when getting out.. now i have slipped on that a few times but never bad enough to fall... so ill say i am a huge fan of the visibility but not so much on the steps.. maybe if they place em behind the dozer and completely out of the way of the tracks it will be a good idea...

I like the idea, cooling in the back. This is not a big Dozer, it's rather small, 8 -10 T. When it's big you need sprocket high, out of the dirt. Nice steps in back seems more like a office thinker and not a dozer driver. Steps has to fold in like a forestry machine. If made in Europa or USA it has quality that Chinese do not understand still.

"Game Changer!" Whilst that title is invariably overused and misused, in applying it to what this new prototype has brought to the industry, it is entirely appropriate! How refreshing to see such huge safety advances as those afforded by the Blue Steps, Daily Checks, Operator Visibility and Dust Management System! It is very interesting to see which manufacturer developed, incorporated and launched these improvements and which manufacturers did not... Great coverage, excellent journalism and super channel!

Komatsu bought out Dressta years ago. Dressta name must be up for sale?
@MarciaLFord
@MarciaLFord 4 года назад
This is what I know about Dresser becoming Dressta. When International went broke, they had Dresser Heavy Industries as their construction division. Then Case and New Holland joined in the fun and bought International. Now this new company had two or three dozer manufacturers as a part of the new company. Then, the Polish government bought Dresser heavy industries and the rights to produce the Dresser/International dozers. Even the dozer names stayed the same. Ie TD-15, etc., Komatsu wanted to learn how to make dozers so they bought 25% with an option for 25% more. Well, they learned how to make dozers so they didn’t need the other 25%, so they did to not option on it......they had what they wanted which was the knowledge of how to make dozers. When Dresser came to Poland, the manufacturing arm built dozers in Sta-Wola or something like that and that is how Dresser got the Sta in it-from the city where the manufacturing took place. Dressta never really evolved from the Dresser machines when the molds and such moved from the U.S. to Poland and then Liugong decided to buy the company. Things pretty much stayed the same for awhile, then Liugong decided to inject a lot of money. Dressta always had good components like Cummins engines straight from Indiana, ZF transmissions from Germany or Austria. So far, Liugong has kept those nice components. They are still made in Poland and use great components. Liugong is going from small to large models and modernizing the machines. The small dozers TD9S, TD8S, have Cummins engines, ZF transmissions, Rexroth Hydrostats that are the largest in the industry, joystick controls, etc., now Liugong/Dressta is redoing the 42,000 lb. class. Looks pretty nice. I sat in the one at ConExpo....lots of room and comfort. I sure don’t know all of the history of Dresser Heavy Industries getting owned by the Polish Government and becoming Dressta, but I’m pretty close on the general transaction bringing Dresser to Poland and becoming Dressta. Once Liugong gets their parts inventory in line as well as their service backup, they will offer a very competitive product. I do not think the name is up for sale. Liugong is a pretty well off company.

I have wondered about that but I think Jim gave a good explanation. I worked for a komatsu dealer and would get stuck with working on one of their dresser dozers with komatsu labels. I had a hard time explaining to the owner about whats wrong with it because there was no service info by komatsu. I had to wing it a lot and wound up replacing the engine,trans,2speed diff and a final drive. It was a TD20 but komatsu named it D87E.

I would ask, who got the Aussie Dontent Media salesman so upset, he acts and looks like he is ready to rumble in the ring with anyone who will oblige him, bar none, size of opponents no limit, number of opponents no limit, he just wants to get it on and rip someone head off !!! The dozer itself is very smart looking in style. Albeit, it also looks to be way too lean in bulk size and power to use 3 x 3' rippers. I don't believe that it would ever make it in the Alaskan frozen tundra or in the shale laden ground of New England or any of a hundred other sites where dozers are used in the United States. I say support American manufacturers and our workers, there is too much equipment from foreign countries in the United States already, we don't need any more junk, period.
